Heatwave Support Thread Part Three.

Can't believe we even need a third thread. The summer heat really has been relentless hasn't it? Since mid May virtually, we have had unprecedented heat, 4-5 degrees Celsius hotter than predicted most of the time, high humidity, half the country in drought, constant record breaking temperatures, and 30 degrees Celsius or higher, on more days this summer than ANY other summer.

And there doesn't seem to be any end to it, anytime soon!

Some people are just about coping, and some people are really struggling, especially those with underlying health conditions.

Here's a thread where everyone can get together and have support each other.

By the way, as the poster who submitted the previous thread said... This is ONLY for those who hate this heat, and heatwaves, and struggle to sleep because it’s unbearable, struggle to be outside in it, and struggle with it inside their home too. And for those who feel ill from the heat.

I've got the fan back on tonight and no duvet. It's absolutely sweltering and is getting hotter as the week goes on. I feel like I'm in a permanent state of having a low-level hot flush. I feel claustrophobic and trapped.

OMG Imagine the AIBU reactions if i started a thread on here It would be full of people moaning about SH freebies and how if they want something like that they would have to pay for it themselves and how dare we be so entitled.

I noticed a water leak today while taking my son the cinema … water pouring into the road on the way home. This is Thames water though I think. We just don’t have the appropriate infrastructure for this weather frankly - urrggh.

Im really struggling with how to entertain my child and keep the young dog outnof the heat. Its 30 degrees again tomorrow and its likely to be another day indoors as the dog has separation anxiety

I can't believe there's going to be yet another heatwave next week, I feel like I'm going mad. I'm in the North West so we haven't had it nearly as bad as the SE, but everywhere is bone dry and looks bloody awful. Not to mention the impact on poor wildlife.
I feel like we've just collectively stumbled into a dystopian nightmare, where only a few of us can see how worrying and horrifying it is. It should not be this hot and dry in England FFS, all I've heard is idiots banging on about how they just got on with it in 1976.
Apart from the more serious aspects of this weather, I just hate the boring, sameness of it all. I love opening my curtains in the autumn and seeing rain, sun, fog, it's different every day. This shit is like groundhog day.

This is exactly how I feel. I only just saw the forecast for next week, it’s on the rise again and I’ll be working in the SE for three days of it, no escape. Arghhhh, just when we had really enjoyed a few windy, cooler days so much. I definitely have whatever the opposite is to S.A.D

still having to put my head under water to cool myself down before bed.

Just seen the forecast for next week, just when I thought it would be cooler. We had to close the car windows today while out as it was getting a bit nippy. I thought it was cooling down a bit too quickly but I don't want it up in the 30's again. It's been a horrible summer for me tbh.

Exactly. The first time I went to Oz, it made me quite low seeing blue sky and not one fluffy cloud in the sky for 6 weeks. Felt surreal, like now. Variety is the spice of life. Although, if a bbq was arranged, you knew it would happen!

I keep checking the weather for any sign of rain but all I see is 30 degrees today and 34 on Thursday!!!!! I need to stop looking 😞

I couldn't sleep till 3 am last night.
Got up completely shattered.

I need to rant about the coming week. I feel for those who haven’t had it so hot and want some warmth, but honestly for us here it’s a nightmare week coming up and I can’t bear it! It’s not natural is it and no sign of any rain. What is going on with that ?
Deeply worrying

I've got nightshifts at the middle of next week and it's going to be REALLY fun trying to sleep during the day in 30+ temperatures. It's also difficult falling to sleep because it's so incredibly sunny at the moment with little to no cloud cover, so that I get home and my body is confused by all the daylight, it makes me feel awake even if I'm absolutely shattered and that makes it take even longer to fall asleep.... Yes that would happen anyways but the sunlight seems....far more intense then it usually is.

Back home after our holiday. Much too hot still, though I appreciate that we are better off here in the NW than a lot of other places. Tried to do some tidying in the garden this morning - loads of dead plants shrivelled by the sun to clear away - but was dripping with sweat after 20 mins. This was at 10am! I really cannot wait for rain and autumn.

I couldn’t agree more.
I well remember 1976, and although there was a drought it wasn’t anywhere near as hot and certainly nowhere near as long and relentless.

As I posted on a similar thread, the scary short sightedness of those who say ‘Bring it on’ is demonstrating just how blinkered people are about climate change.
Complete species are dying out, extinction is forever ffs!
I’m old, cynical and recovering from lung surgery; this weather is frightening, there’s absolutely no sign of rain in the south for the next two weeks, temperatures will hit the high 30’s again this week and for many people it will be a miserable struggle to simply keep going.
I just hope that those wishing for perpetual heatwaves ‘Because I love it hot’ are prepared to accept that that isn’t the case for probably the majority of people nowadays.
it is a terrifying prospect for those of us with more insight and experience.

I share your fears. I lived in Australia for 2 years back in my 20s and to my amazement, missed the seasons. I’d started as a sun worshipper but got utterly bored with the sameness of the weather

just checked the forecast for where I am, 27 today (ugh) then dropping to 25 for Monday and rising again for Tues, Wed and Thurs when it goes well into the 30s. This time next week (Sun 16) is apparenty going to be 22 with rain!. I will believe that when it happens. Been forcast before and all that happened was a steady climb in the heat and no rain to be seen.
