Heatwave Support Thread Part Three.

Zov · 05/08/2026 20:49

Can't believe we even need a third thread. The summer heat really has been relentless hasn't it? Since mid May virtually, we have had unprecedented heat, 4-5 degrees Celsius hotter than predicted most of the time, high humidity, half the country in drought, constant record breaking temperatures, and 30 degrees Celsius or higher, on more days this summer than ANY other summer.

And there doesn't seem to be any end to it, anytime soon!

Some people are just about coping, and some people are really struggling, especially those with underlying health conditions.

Here's a thread where everyone can get together and have support each other.

By the way, as the poster who submitted the previous thread said... This is ONLY for those who hate this heat, and heatwaves, and struggle to sleep because it’s unbearable, struggle to be outside in it, and struggle with it inside their home too. And for those who feel ill from the heat.

People can come here for a moan .. hot weather lovers can start your own thread!

First night with no fan on last night. Much cooler here and it thrashed it down in the night. Proper biblical rain.

I am with you 1000%, we are in the midst of a climate crisis, this and indeed much hotter is the future of the summer months and these gurning fools treat it like show biz when they do the forecast, all teeth and smiles and stupid jokes. Just give us the facts and stop being a twat who thinks they are part of light entertainment. I've got This Morning on in the background and one of the idiot presenters has just said "we need to stop talking about heatwaves now it's just weather" Said from the comfort of an a/c studio of course. Switching it off now as have stuff to do and also to stop myself kicking the screen in

Yep 100%. This morning I just couldn't believe it when the woman on BBC Breakfast actually said she was fed up of all the rain! I mean wtaf!!

DeerOhDear · 19/08/2026 07:37

It def seems to have rained here but I'm sceptical as to how much.
Obvously somerhng is better than nothing and has helped to marginally reduce the fire risk !

All what rain? Dunno where she lives but in the last month where I am there's been a grand total of 0.4mm of rain.

CancelCelebrities · 19/08/2026 08:18

Bloody hell it's raining here in the deepest south (Sussex). I've got all windows wide open and I can hear the water butt filling up.

friedaklein · 19/08/2026 08:36

So nice here in London.Unfortunately I have to work. Wish I had taken the day off.

It feels fresher in the breeze here but when it drops, it’s really warm

What the hell? Come to think of it, they'd probably like it in hell, nice and hot for them😄 I saw a really upsetting item on the news last night about all the wildlife that are being killed or damaged by the heat because their habits and food sources are being devastated, yet people moan about the rain.

friedaklein · 19/08/2026 12:58

My cat is so much happier. He is giving me a cuddle now, but in the heatwave he flatly refused.

Zov · 19/08/2026 13:13

Ahhhh we had some rain last night AND the night before. Proper downpours! Praise be! 🙏

Temperature has dropped down to 19-22C, but it's 70% humidity so feels 4-5C higher than it is. (And quite stuffy.)

Feels like we're not out of the woods yet.

I have rain! Feels and looks heavier than the last few nights so long may it continue and it becomes fresher. Not sure about the temperature or humidity but here’s hoping the house gets cooler

JewelleryCat · 19/08/2026 14:05

It seems the rain has stopped which is a shame but nice while it lasted

Handyweatherstation · 19/08/2026 14:27

We haven't had any rain to note since mid-June and that was a one-off. When is it our turn?

CancelCelebrities · 19/08/2026 16:01

Please can people say where they are? Not specifically but general eg south east, or Kent etc....😁

Handyweatherstation · 19/08/2026 16:31

West Oxfordshire.

MoonlightMemories · 19/08/2026 16:48

Pretty much in the middle of East Anglia..

The forecast appears to be rather inaccurate...yet again 🤣. It's meant to be light rain from 4pm but it's currently partially cloudy and lots of lovely (much cooler!) sunshine and rain is feeling highly unlikely, nevermind the supposed thunderstorms that the news keeps mentioning...

London. It was way cooler in the morning. Now blazing again in my house and still v humid.

friedaklein · 19/08/2026 17:10

Yesterday I did a 1.5 hr riverside walk with a sitdown in between and a sweaty Tube ride. I have to defeat this summer..It's war!

Tom I am doing a one hour walk at least with a friend in the sadly denuded park.

It’s fresher today, thank goodness

But the flat is still hot

Not surprising given I currently have a reading of 28 in the shade. Why are our weather forecasts so rubbish?! This is for Essex but I’m guessing other places in the Southeast don’t have accurate forecasts either.

I did manage a decent lunchtime walk, but I mostly went out at lunchtime because they said it would rain later.

No. Very sunny out.

JenniferBooth · 19/08/2026 18:13

North Essex

Lifeomars · 19/08/2026 18:44

Apparently there is going to be yet another heatwave at the end of August and going into September, i really hope this is not going to happen. Much cooler here today but despite the sky being overcast for most of the day there hasn't been any rain. i am longing for a glorious thunder storm to clear the air. When the sun comes out it still feels very hot, my kitchen gets loads of sun and it was hot again in there this afternoon 🙁

MightyGoldBear · 19/08/2026 19:32

We have rain 🥳🥳🥳
