Heatwave Support Thread Part Three.

Zov · 05/08/2026 20:49

Can't believe we even need a third thread. The summer heat really has been relentless hasn't it? Since mid May virtually, we have had unprecedented heat, 4-5 degrees Celsius hotter than predicted most of the time, high humidity, half the country in drought, constant record breaking temperatures, and 30 degrees Celsius or higher, on more days this summer than ANY other summer.

And there doesn't seem to be any end to it, anytime soon!

Some people are just about coping, and some people are really struggling, especially those with underlying health conditions.

Here's a thread where everyone can get together and have support each other.

By the way, as the poster who submitted the previous thread said... This is ONLY for those who hate this heat, and heatwaves, and struggle to sleep because it’s unbearable, struggle to be outside in it, and struggle with it inside their home too. And for those who feel ill from the heat.

People can come here for a moan .. hot weather lovers can start your own thread!

Still not seen a drop of rain but it was much much cooler last night and it wasn’t as humid either. Yesterday afternoon was 75% humidity which made it feel like a million degrees out. It’s cool here today though (although I think it’s only “cool” becasue I’m so used to 30+).

Going out for afternoon tea later in a little tea shop which would awful in 30 heat so fingers crossed it stays “cool”.

Sadly my house at home will be hot all the time the sun is on it. If it’s cloudy it doesn’t suffer as much - fingers crossed it’s cloudy back home.

You know what really fucks me off? Weather forecasting sites that chirp about 'nice and sunny again' while everything is tinder dry and another site that lists 'precipitation risk' in the forecast - precipitation RISK during a long, hot drought. This boils my piss more than I can adequately express.

I am with you 1000%, we are in the midst of a climate crisis, this and indeed much hotter is the future of the summer months and these gurning fools treat it like show biz when they do the forecast, all teeth and smiles and stupid jokes. Just give us the facts and stop being a twat who thinks they are part of light entertainment. I've got This Morning on in the background and one of the idiot presenters has just said "we need to stop talking about heatwaves now it's just weather" Said from the comfort of an a/c studio of course. Switching it off now as have stuff to do and also to stop myself kicking the screen in

I get it about kicking the screen in, it's reason I had to give up tv as it was too enraging. All those breathy, simpering voices and tinkly laughs...Hmm

DeerOhDear · 17/08/2026 12:19

More promise of rain tonight and tomorrow in patches ,I keep on keeping the faith.
Nothing yet though.

JenniferBooth · 17/08/2026 13:09

I agree and am wondering if it’s something many of us should lobby our MPs about, all this downright insensitive and irresponsible biased weather reporting! What other news facts are allowed to be presented with an opinion? I repeatedly write to media outlets requesting reporting of the facts during summer as I’m infuriated by them not acknowledging that firstly heat is not good news for everyone if they have health problems and that secondly the widespread implications that affect us all, like fires and crop failures!

JenniferBooth · 17/08/2026 14:03

Its really fucking insensitive and tone deaf to go on about nice sunny weather and glorious sunshine when people have lost their homes.

They'd collapse emotionally and literally if they had to work on a hospital ward, drive a bus or in a kitchen

JenniferBooth · 17/08/2026 14:40

Charlene White described the weather as lovely towards the end of an item about fire risk just after they showed a piece showing the aftermath in Stourbridge

JenniferBooth · 17/08/2026 15:09

It rained quite hard here at 11.30 last night and we had a couple of dips in power.

I think we can leave the weather people to it we need to lobby MPs to upgrade social housing and make it better for everyone .

We need to lobby then to

DeerOhDear · 17/08/2026 16:20

Lobby to get water companies properly sorted out .the laxk of water and everything being dry has massively increased the risks. And made everything much harder.

EmeraldRoulette · 17/08/2026 19:22

Did anyone else carry on feeling a bit ill today?

I have obviously worked, but it was a real struggle. The flat is still boiling though and it’s horrendously muggy outside.

We hit 28 in the shade today.

JacknDiane · 17/08/2026 19:29

Im in Glasgow, its pouring here.

JewelleryCat · 17/08/2026 19:30

No, I felt a bit better today @EmeraldRoulette. Could you be coming down with something?

Well, I don’t think so. I think it’s just the humidity.

It’s still very humid here and apparently tomorrow will be the worst day for that. 28 and humid is revolting. Perhaps not so much in a different build?

@JenniferBooth have you got that “ air feels like soup” thing going on?

Yes it feels suffocating and it makes me feel exhausted. The sweat was pouring off me from just unloading the washing machine

DeerOhDear · 17/08/2026 20:24

@EmeraldRoulette it's been much better here today and house feels marginally cooler and the bastards sun has been hidden behind clouds .

We have the promise of rain again tomorrow into 37%.

Sorry you still don't feel well emerald

friedaklein · 17/08/2026 20:27
