Heatwave Support Thread Part Three.

Can't believe we even need a third thread. The summer heat really has been relentless hasn't it? Since mid May virtually, we have had unprecedented heat, 4-5 degrees Celsius hotter than predicted most of the time, high humidity, half the country in drought, constant record breaking temperatures, and 30 degrees Celsius or higher, on more days this summer than ANY other summer.

And there doesn't seem to be any end to it, anytime soon!

Some people are just about coping, and some people are really struggling, especially those with underlying health conditions.

Here's a thread where everyone can get together and have support each other.

By the way, as the poster who submitted the previous thread said... This is ONLY for those who hate this heat, and heatwaves, and struggle to sleep because it’s unbearable, struggle to be outside in it, and struggle with it inside their home too. And for those who feel ill from the heat.

People can come here for a moan .. hot weather lovers can start your own thread!

It’s 29 in my living room. I’ve been having a banging headache today because of the heat and the fan

Yesterday I coped. Today, not so much. Have felt on the verge of a panic attack the last 2 or 3 hours, only managing to keep it at bay by sheer force of will! Right now, sitting in the bathroom with my feet in a bowl of cold water with radox and Epsom salts, waterfall and wind chimes on my iPad 😂

Probably where I saw it, then. It’s an interesting read. I should get it.

The rain has moved again.

I feel very vulnerable having to rely on others being sensible in a built up areas.

I had started to feel more calm knowing rain was on the way and then we got the alert and I've checked rain and it's gone away.

If we were allowed to use water I would feel much better .

Burnham needs to sort the water companies out yesterday.

It was 30 on the west side (bedroom east) and 30 in here after I opened the windows. I’d been ‘maintaining’ a steady 29 and thought fuck it. Given the temp should drop tomorrow - but still 25! - it’s showing cloud which will help enormously.

Im going to employ the fan trick when it gets dark. I don’t like fully opening windows until then because flies.

I think today was harder because there was zero cool down overnight. Hopefully cooler where everyone is tomorrow. 🤞

It’s 32 in my bedroom. I’m tempted to tip a bucket of water over my head in the garden. Thing is, it would just making coming inside again worse!

Well the bbc and met office are saying highs of 21 tomorrow and accuweather saying highs of 25 for my area. I never know which one to believe or if I should stop looking at the weather

25 still feels too much because this has been dragging on so long

If there are any more heatwaves this year, just try to remember they’ll be shorter as the days draw in.

I cannot wait for winter. Usually I’d say autumn but it probably won’t feel like autumn after all this heat.

@ConstantlyFuriosa I don’t want to out myself but we used to have a running joke about canned cocktails at one of my workplace so that made me smile

@friedaklein I haven’t had official news of the next heat wave but it sounds like you have. I have a rough idea but it’s very rough at the moment I’m waiting for my local contact to confirm it, but obviously I’m hoping he doesn’t need to

It’s going to be 27 here tomorrow but I’m imagining that will seem like a massive improvement on today

Having hung around the supermarket literally for the air con, I didn’t actually do a lot of shopping because the bus went completely mad and I would normally go to a supermarket I could walk to. So hopefully I can do that tomorrow.

The supermarket my neighbour dropped me to is absolutely massive. I hate massive supermarkets so I don’t normally shop in them. But in terms of dawdling along to get some air-conditioning, it was handy. Can you believe I had to resort to that?

Im a Christmas girl. I love Christmas. Its not the same as it used to be since losing my dad to prostate cancer nearly two years ago but i prefer that time of year to this.

I don’t usually drink them @EmeraldRoulette but someone gave me one recently and they were on offer at Ocado so I thought it would be rude not to.

I hate that. Had a cool shower earlier and my head was sweating so much. You’ve no doubt been asked this a million times, but can you get one of those old fashioned rubber hose ‘sort of’ shower attachments for the taps on your bath?

Finally it's getting cooler here. The bedroom was 32 last night and what a pp said was spot on about the heat outside. It was like hot wind blowing around. I've never known it to be like this in the UK. This summer is weird. No storms or rain. DF said maybe everywhere will become like a desert and I thought nooo, don't say that! But when it does finally rain we'll have the mother of all floods.

Taps are so old i dont want to risk yanking on them or putting any pressure on them.

It’s true. They don’t replace anything unless it poses a risk to others. Because then they’d get sued.

The whole joke started because I had one (there was a whole story around it, I wasn't just telling the office really boring story I promise) and then canned cocktails became associated with the story... sorry I can't explain it without giving myself away because if anyone worked with me, they will definitely recognise it😂

I've only just been able to open the windows and there is a really weird smell. Like something burning. I realise we're all hypersensitive at the moment especially after we had four fires deliberately set in the local area the other night -but it is a really odd smell - like burning rubber or something.

I'm going to head out into the garden, it's not going to be very nice but at this point, it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. It's the communal garden and it's on the other side of the building so it may not smell...

Yes I was thinking how strange we have not had a storm.

Just stood on a plug, now in pain and hot 😢
