Heatwave Support Thread Part Three.

Can't believe we even need a third thread. The summer heat really has been relentless hasn't it? Since mid May virtually, we have had unprecedented heat, 4-5 degrees Celsius hotter than predicted most of the time, high humidity, half the country in drought, constant record breaking temperatures, and 30 degrees Celsius or higher, on more days this summer than ANY other summer.

And there doesn't seem to be any end to it, anytime soon!

Some people are just about coping, and some people are really struggling, especially those with underlying health conditions.

Here's a thread where everyone can get together and have support each other.

By the way, as the poster who submitted the previous thread said... This is ONLY for those who hate this heat, and heatwaves, and struggle to sleep because it’s unbearable, struggle to be outside in it, and struggle with it inside their home too. And for those who feel ill from the heat.

People can come here for a moan .. hot weather lovers can start your own thread!

My aunts house in Italy is stone concrete and marble.

@MotherofPearl who would set off fireworks in the height of summer? I’m all for just having fireworks just for organised events anyway because I don’t really like them, they do awful things to animals but that’s a debate for another day lol

Has anyone else’s bbc app had a sudden brain fart and changed tomorrow and Saturday to much higher heat? They were showing 33 tomorrow and a ‘mere’ 26 Saturday. Now it’s showing another 36 tomorrow and 33 sat! I’m hoping it’s a glitch. Please god let it be a glitch.

There’s other ways to mourn someone and remember them than fireworks, especially when we are either in prolonged dry weather or drought conditions

I had a dreadful night too.Nightmares about climate change. Was apparently shouting in the night. Tonight will do the damp towel trick.

DD is doing a punishing Masters thesis and struggling to focus. Sigh.

I know it cools down this weekend- I have booked a day trip to get out of London- but does anyone know if we are due for any rain?

Haven't tried the towel but did go to bed with an ice pack. Was up for a few hours in night due to heat and sinus hell.

I worry about my kids future and feel guilty for bringing them here but that might be peri worry!!

I pre-ordered the meaco air con but someone posted a single hose one is no good so now that excitement has gone too.

My house is not suited to aircon.

I am also feeling guilty for bringing kids into the world.

Heating problem was sorted at work last night, thankfully. However I have one more night shift tonight and the forecast is saying 33 feels like 37, so I really hope i manage to get some sleep during the day 😥

Late to the party, but wanted to add my rage at this heat. I work as a gardener and have spent the summer watching gardens turn brown and crispy as some customers haven't been watering. Nothing is growing. It's weird to think that my work is literally drying up. I hate this heat and dryness so much.

Yesterday I went into the bathroom and the window was cracked open and the heat coming in was like you get from opening an oven. It's insanely hot here, like desert heat.

It's much cooler here today and cloudy.
I hate brightness so im so happy to see the cloud.
We also had showers during the night!

34c here today. But I'm loving the look of all the 23c days that are forecast.

Yesterday was hell. This morning is much better and tomorrow is better again, with 21° day time and 13° at night. It'll take a couple of days for the heat to disperse from the house though. It was 30° in my bedroom last night 🥵 Hopefully, the worst of it is behind us now.

I'm not sure why they're astonished. The UKs housing and infrastructure has been built around a much more moderate climate. Things are changing (fast) and we're having to play catch-up now. We can't just houses down and re-build them and/or install aircon overnight.

Highs of 33 here today and I feel hotter this morning than I did yesterday morning. There’s not even a waft of a breeze and I can’t face the noise of the portable air con. So… I'm sat on a towel trying to work and just sweating. I’ve got so much to do too as we’re going away tomorrow.

Agree with everyone else, at least there is the promise of lower temperatures over the next few days.

Back again. My living room is boiling. It was cooler this time yesterday but the 36°C we were forecast yesterday obviously heated things up. It's supposed to be 34°C today. Praying for cooler rainy weather next week.
