Burnham bounce did well in Manchester. Low turnout but Labour won in every borough.
Nice positive first post.

BIossomtoes · 01/08/2026 12:57

Always good to get off to a positive start. Here’s my tax.

Just here to mark my place.

My positivity today is that I’ve had a lovely morning reading on our beautiful decking

Including Denton & Gorton where the Greens won the by-election just a short time ago

Thank you for the new thread @BIossomtoes

Thank you for the new thread @BIossomtoes

I was surprised by just how badly the greens collapsed in Manchester. And the Tories.

It suggests (to my feeble mind) that perhaps people are a little bored by the Farage show at the moment, and just can’t be bothered to vote.

Thanks for new thread.

My tax.

I actually saw this last week and took a photo of it specifically because I thought it would make good thread tax!

Tax to follow ...

LizzieW1969 · 01/08/2026 14:04

Here’s my tax payment, a photo of Lizzie, who went missing for a whole day earlier this week. Curiously, it happened the very day her flea treatment was due, which they all hate. It was as if she knew! 😂

Thanks for the thread @BIossomtoes
I was supposed to be away for the weekend but was ill last week with a stomach bug so didn’t go. Felt better today so went to help out at the Dogs’ Home Open Day. May have overdone it as, despite leaving early, I am now very tired and a bit woozy. Have had a cold drink and some crisps and shall get a gin to fortify me shortly.
Here’s my tax -Perdy judging me when we had a difference of opinion as to whether it was time for her dinner.

Completely off topic, but does anyone have a robot vacuum cleaner? If so is it any good?

Piggywaspushed · 01/08/2026 17:07

Greetings literally from the Atlantic. Can't believe I can Mumsnet in the ocean! Just seen whales but no tax pics. Just imagine them.

PickAChew · 01/08/2026 17:10

We have one @TemperanceWest and it never gets used because we have too many things for it to get stuck on or eat.

Tax that has inspired me, though it may not amount to anything.

Things to watch ...

  • mapping. Can you save/restore maps ? Will it just remap when it's "AI" feels like it and wipe out all your no go zones and room specific settings ?
  • Voice control. Does the smart assistant integration allow you to reference room names so you can say "Hey, Siri, get Robovac to clean lounge" ?
  • Can you set the cleaning route in the app so that it follows that when started ?
  • Does the app allow easy access to mapping and other features ?

You will notice these have very little to do with the actual "does it clean question 😀

Our Roborock cleans OK, but can only really be driven via the app and it falls down on all the highlighted points. Engagement in "the community" these past 3 years suggests that as of now there is nothing out that that matches my needs.

It's not that I am unique, or fussy. Just I know what tech can do, when people are serious.

We’ve got a Shark vacuum/mop. It’s a lazy woman’s dream. I love it.

Thanks for the new thread.

Tax in the form of a picture of the buck moon, from the back of our house the other night. Appropriate because of its symbolism:

The Buck Moon, named for the time when male deer regrow their antlers, primarily symbolizes growth, renewal, and regeneration. This lunar phase is viewed as a period of transformation, encouraging individuals to shed old patterns and embrace new versions of themselves.
