It's an anodyne article at best and the quote above solidifies my opinion. Stupid people don't do options.

Our Mate Phil was suggesting that some of the Reform votes in Clacton will come from people who want to vote, but want to vote for a serious candidate and since Farage is the only "serious" candidate, they would vote Reform now, but not in a real election.

I feel I could not disagree more. If you don't want to be called fucking stupid, then don't pretend Farage is a serious candidate for a start. Just admit you have had all your Christmases come early as you get to be racist with an excuse to fool the dim.

I am trying to have a quiet weekend but got interrupted by DS having a panic about his post op situation. Turns out that if you find the right clinic you can have an impromptu consult with the surgeon late on a Saturday...

Oh wow - I genuinely thought that quote was from Shakespeare. Every day's a school day, clearly.

Janes law is that if you can't be sure of an English quote (obviously if it references digital watches you may have to adjust the algorithm) then you'll probably be right 30% of the time if you say "Shakespeare" and after than 20% if you say "The Bible".

I wonder what other languages might have. I mean is Goethe that big ? Voltaire ? Dante ?

Bear writes very astutely. Enough for me to be a subscriber anyway. Mythology is in vogue at the moment with the release of The Odyssey.

I thought the article was on the money. We can't write off Reform yet.

I didn't like it. It had all the emotional feel of an inexperienced 18 year old.

Just like that as much as I rate Christopher Nolan as a writer and director, I won't be going to see The Odyssey in the cinema. I've had the book read to me as a child - obviously a child's version, and then read it twice as an adult, as part of my degree.

The preview I saw in the cinema was enough to put me off watching it.

He writes really well, I think, and always from the heart. Maybe that's what you don't like? I don't know.

I've edited my post for spelling. I'm certainly not going to hound any poster on this thread to explain in detail why they liked it. Unlike you. Can we leave it now? And agree to disagree to differ?

I’m surprised. Clearly he doesn’t come across like that to many people. I was surprised how many of the commenters are my age or older.

Give it a rest? I've just asked you to explain why you're so critical. What's the issue with that? I haven't taken issue with any spelling (didn't notice it!)
