Ive just been to see Nick Cave. It doesn't get much better. (Are there many things in life better than amazing live music?)

Whats your best gig/ concert?

Bowie on the Aladdin Sane tour. Completely mind blowing.
Adele at the O2 arena.
Bruce Springsteen in Hyde Park. I will never have a more perfect experience than Born to Run on that night
Taylor Swift at Wembley. That was a show!

Itsnowisntit · 01/08/2026 19:18

Meatloaf, each of the 3 times I have seen him was amazing.
Take That put on a good show.
Adele.
Neil Diamond.
Frankie Valle.

Quite eclectic mix but all really good in their own way.

Snow patrol in a small venue just after they’d made it big, venue booked before they were big. They were delighted to be there as was the audience, it was brilliant.

James last week, just so good and energy and huge band,

a fleetwood mac tribute band just after Covid, everyone was so up for it!

Would love to have seen Lizzy as well...

True story - Phil Lynott sung Happy Birthday to my Mum with an acoustic guitar on a flight from Madrid to London.

She didn't have a clue who he was and when she told me she said it was "... a tall Irish guy with a big afro from a band called Spinning Dizzy, or something!" 😂

Would have been about 1981-82.

Edited

I’m very jealous of your mum , Thin Lizzy are one of the few bands that I didn’t see but would have loved to , T rex being another but I was a bit too young .

Divine Comedy in a nightclub in Madrid 2 years ago, right at the front, tiny venue, amazing mood and atmosphere, lovely friends, lovely hug from Neil afterwards - perfection.

I’ve seen the band many times in various places but that was the best.

Spanish people LOVE to sing and knew all the lyrics (I’m half Spanish) and it was just such a fun, warm atmosphere.

I saw them in Glasgow late last year. They were phenomenal, but I think best concert for me was either Bob Dylan on his Rough and Rowdy tour or Metallica at Hampden this June.

Queen with Freddy,, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/08/2026 20:31

I saw Queen in Newcastle (this was just after Live Aid , they went on tour , my DBro and I went . Probably 1986 )

They were supported by Status Quo <love>

Queen were singing some Buddy Holly/ Big Bopper ( Be Bop A Lu-La ) which I wasn't pleased with . I went to see them to hear Queen somgs . Not to hear their strange little side infatuation with some long gone 50s rockers .
I'm glad I saw them , especially as Freddie Mercury died in 1991 . I wouldn't go to Queen& Adam Lampard . Not the same .

And Justin Bieber . I was made to go by my DD and her mate as they were only 15 . Mr JB had a reputation for tardiness with his timekeeping often leaving his fans (who were mainly school aged ) hanging about for hours , This was a Sunday so school the next day . He was on time , played a great set . Really enjoyed it .
Apparently Hyde Park are strict with their time slots , so he had to be punctual.

@MalewhoisLaffinalltheway Now I am really really jealous of your mum. I went to the Museum of Rock Music in Dublin and they had some of Phil Lynott's clothing that had been donated by his family. The tour guide asked if anyone had any questions. Mine was "has this T shirt been washed?" as i leaned in for a sniff. He shook his head and said "nobody has ever asked that before"

troppibambini6 · 01/08/2026 22:04

Oasis at Heaton park last summer. We were lucky and got front standing so we’re right at the front. The most amazing atmosphere and Cast and Richard Ashcroft were really good too.

MalewhoisLaffinalltheway · 01/08/2026 18:28

That would have been brilliant!
Saw the Blockheads with Wilko a few years ago, fantastic musicians.

I have seen the clips of Wilko and the Blockheads. Sad he passed.

DelilahBucket · 01/08/2026 22:09

Pentatonic
London Grammar
Sigrid
Foo Fighters

We've also seen lots of mostly unknown bands and cover bands locally which have been amazing. We love seeing live music. DS is in a band and has done a lot of gigging over the years which introduced us to a lot of bands we didn't know existed.

Bruce Springsteen Born In The USA tour 4th July was my first concert at 15.
Blondie at The Waterfront Belfast.
The Specials, Ulster Hall Belfast

Chic
Sister Sledge
Both custom House Square Belfast.

Cocolapew · 01/08/2026 22:22

Oh! and Neil Diamond

Sorrelbird · 01/08/2026 23:24

On about our 2nd date in 1996 my boyfriend said “do you want to see Pearl Jam in Paris?” Most amazing gig of my life and I married him.

Citadelica · 01/08/2026 23:31

Depeche Mode Violator tour
Simple Minds 1986
The Flight of the Conchords - probably c2010
Inspiral carpets, recently.

MoshpitAtMorrisons · 01/08/2026 23:34

Coldplay
I love the 1975 and have travelled the world to watch them, I love their show and music
Sam Fender with Olivia Dean as the support was brilliant.

MoshpitAtMorrisons · 01/08/2026 23:35

Stevie Nicks was incredible a few years ago too!

Toomucktoo · 01/08/2026 23:42

Middlemarch123 · 01/08/2026 21:15

George Michael
Followed closely by Bruce Springsteen

I saw George Michael in Sydney on his Faith Tour in late 80s . He was incredible and I was absolutely heartbroken when he died 😢

Goldrill · 01/08/2026 23:56

Pearl jam 1998 Melbourne
PWEI a couple of times in the early 90s (I think!) - just brilliant
And new model army, lots of times and always fab. Great to see the audience still rocking the celtic knots and black jeans while the band appear to have moved on a bit!

I saw PWEI earlier this year. They've not lost their edge at all.

Alice Cooper front row!!!!!

ages ago ….. 😎

Saw him last year in Edinburgh , front row . He was amazing .
I love live music ...

Bowie at Murray field 1983 , absolute legend .
Pink Floyd 1994 ish
Michael Jackson 1988 in Berlin .
Tom Baxter and David Ford at small gigs in Glasgow .. both brilliant musicians .
Worst concert was meatloaf ... so disappointed as bat out of hell is one of my favourite albums ... he was awful and so obviously under the influence of a substance ... walked out of that one .

Dumplinghead · 02/08/2026 00:22

Been very lucky to see some great gigs. Prince several times and the after show too at the O2. U2 here and in Dublin, including front row at Elevation, pulp in their infancy, INXS (still the most gorgeous man ever!) many Take That amazing shows and Paul Simon several times. Oasis in their prime at the legendary gig where Liam walked off stage! Stone Rises, I spiral Carpets and many more. This year have seen Paul Simon, very different to previous but still amazing, Take That with The Script anc Belinda Carlisle, Deacon Blue and Lightening Seeds and Tom Jones. Still got The Wonder Stuff and Lightening Seeds to go. Love a gig, best night out ever!
