Ive just been to see Nick Cave. It doesn't get much better. (Are there many things in life better than amazing live music?)

Whats your best gig/ concert?

At the old Wembley Stadium in the 80s - Madonna’s Who’s That Girl Tour and Michael Jackson’s Bad Tour

The Prodigy at Brixton Academy around 95 or 96 - lucky to have backstage pass for that one

Passwordsaremynemesis · 01/08/2026 02:59

Bowie at Glastonbury 2000
Prodigy in Belfast around 1995
Leftfield, Carl Cox,Jeff Mills at Tribal Gathering in 1998
Bowie at Hammersmith Odean (fan club gig)
Too hard to pick one!

I was there! Took DS2 as it was his favourite band.

Awsome. I was in the standing crowd, was an amazing experience. I was only 17 at the time.

Leonard Cohen, several times
Tom Waits, twice in the 80s, lost hope that he will ever tour again

Tina Turner 8 rows from the front at the. NEC in the 90s - and I’ve been to many a great gig but she was just awesome.

U2 at the World Cup stadium in Cape Town in 2011. Not a fan really but what a memorable show and venue.

Savage Garden. NEC about 20 years ago.

Human League every time I see them (which is a lot)

Globules · 01/08/2026 03:43

I've seen all sorts of top acts in many great gigs.

Take That's circus tour back in June was something else. I saw the original Circus tour, but this year's reboot was another level amazing.

It was just joyful. So much happiness in the stadium. And singing along to songs with my 20 yr old daughter heightened it to another level.

An amazing amazing time that I was buzzing about for weeks.

Radiohead at Bercy, Paris 2012 and only slightly more difficult to get to then the O2. Holiday Inn, walking distance from Bercy using points.

QueenStevie · 01/08/2026 10:05

Stevie Nicks Hyde Park two years ago (hence my user name)

I’m a sucker for a band that can just completely OWN a stadium and have huge production value.

So I’d say Queen + Adam Lambert, the first time I saw then in 2015 they just blew my mind, never seen anything like it (I was born in the 90s so no Freddie comments, I never had the chance!). Saw them in 2023 as well and it was just as mindblowing, I was completely transported.

Take That, the Circus and Progress. The Circus was the first stadium show I’d ever seen and the production value was insane. Then Robbie took it to another level by joining them for Progress- I have never heard screaming like it when they appeared as a 5, not to mention the insane production.

Then Taylor. It took over a decade for me and my bestie to make it together to one of her shows and she is really special. Her stamina, performance quality and the fact that she’d written every single song of a 3.5 hour show, during which she barely left the stage. Her songs have been the soundtrack of my life and being able to share that with 70,000 other people and my best friend was really really special.

For quality of sound and muscianship, special mention for the Eagles, absolutely beautiful.

Probably Springsteen at Hyde Park a few years back. I'd loved his music since my teens but had never seen him in concert. It was only a few months after my darling dad had passed away, and I sobbed like a baby when he sang Nightshift.

We also saw Coldplay in the Royal Albert Hall, that was utterly magical and right up there. The stage was slap bang in the centre, and it was the Ghost stories tour so quite low key for them. They're amazing in concert anyway but this was another level.

labtest57 · 01/08/2026 10:18

Hard to choose, but Dolly Parton in 2011 was amazing. Ive also loved Pink, Paul Heaton, and Louis Dunford more recently

labtest57 · 01/08/2026 10:18

Was very underwhelmed by Sam Fender

Faithless
Manchester 2002.
Nothing compares
Still can't quite believe Maxi Jazz is no longer with us

Saw Faithless so many times but Doncaster Dome around 2004/5 - Oh my God!

Meatloaf - 1995 - my first ever - lived rent free in my head!

Reverend & The Makers did a small pub tour in 2023 - went to a tiny micro-pub where I live, possibly 300 people there, it was unbelievable and then Jon McClure went out for a cig in the tiny beer garden afterwards and did another acoustic set outside! That was my favourite ever!

AgnesX · 01/08/2026 10:21

So many....U2 and ELO were brilliant big events at Glasgow's Hydro (dreadful venue for sound quality usually).

Debbie Harry at Glasgow's Academy was brilliant and a real throwback to her punk days. Equally Erasure at the Academy, Andy Bell was having such a good time it was infectious (and I've a wee crush on Vince Clarke).

CMOTDibbler · 01/08/2026 10:23

It’s so hard to say as every gig is different and special in its own way. For sheer atmosphere and emotion, the Freddie Mercury tribute concert and Back to the Beginning have to be top. For sheer spectacle, Rammstein. For balls to the wall showmanship with nothing more than a microphone, Michael Monroe at the Thelma last year as it’s so tiny but he’s amazing anywhere.

likelysuspect · 01/08/2026 10:25

Duran Duran at Hyde Park

OchreSwan · 01/08/2026 10:26

Paul McCartney 18 months ago - the final night of a long tour. We could see the VIP section from our seats and clocked Ringo early on in the evening. Absolutely delighted when Paul brought him out as a special guest! It was also the first time he brought out his re-discovered stolen bass in public, very special evening all round.

Tablo · 01/08/2026 10:27

It’s hard to choose. Elton John at Hove cricket ground. Aerosmith early 90s at Wembley arena. Linkin Park 2012.

I had a 5 big gig year last year and hands down, Twenty One Pilots were best all round.

Alice Cooper front row!!!!!

ages ago ….. 😎

Definitely one of my best concerts too. I was in the front row as well - I think in 1974.

Whattheduck · 01/08/2026 10:32

Been to some fantastic gigs but the absolute best one was Prince in 2007 at the O2 we were in a private box and also went to a secret after show gig that he did I’ll never forget it amazing night

Echointhedarkness · 01/08/2026 10:38

King Crimson were amazing at the Weeley festival 1971.

Youwantwhatnow · 01/08/2026 10:39

Been to hundreds but…

The1975 when Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance. Now that was something.

Pink with her daughter, One Take Willow.

Taylor when she did a double whammy on her last night of her European leg and pulled out Florence and Jack Antanoff. The screams were epic.

Benson Boone and his gymnastics - his fitness level is incredible.

Most memorable though: George Michael. Such a soul. He had so much more to give 💙

SomethingFun · 01/08/2026 10:39

Prince around 2012, Stone Roses similar time, Pulp anytime, Take That Circus tour 2026, Ateez 2025. I go to a lot of gigs big and small and I don’t think I’ve been to a really terrible one. Some awful stadiums and arenas with no infrastructure though.

QueenStevie · 01/08/2026 10:59

Chappell Roan was really good in Edinburgh last year too. My DD and I have been to quite a few concerts and she said that one was the best.

Likeiloveyou · 01/08/2026 11:04

Bruce Springsteen. I have no words.
