Ive just been to see Nick Cave. It doesn't get much better. (Are there many things in life better than amazing live music?)

Whats your best gig/ concert?

Live Aid. Nothing to beat it.

I went to Live Aid and I’ve been to plenty of better concerts Queen Wembley 1986 , Springsteen multiple times , Cher ( last tour) , George Michael multiple times . Live Aid was a great atmosphere but ultimately was just tiny snippets of people . I’ve been going to concerts since 1979 and for me it’s easier to pick out a bad concert than a good one as they all bring something different .

Muse at the Manchester arena.

I thought I'd missed out on tickets as Ticket master had sold out. I phoned the venue at lunchtime and ended up with front row balcony seats.

They sounded exactly as they do on recordings.

Any of the gigs I’ve been to with Pulp, James or Depeche Mode. Jarvis Cocker, Tim Booth and Dave Gahan are all incredible front men.

FeliciaFancybottom · 01/08/2026 13:16

Morrissey at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester 2004, singing along to Everyday is Like Sunday was the closest I ever got to a religious experience!

I’ve seen Muse many times live - was that 2012? If so I was there! They are truly amazing live. Just such a shame their current tour tickets are so astronomically expensive 😢

Pogues . Back in the day. Absolute blast of a night.

Definitely one of my favourite uni- era gigs - what a blast! Lost a shoe 🤣

Depeche Mode was my first proper gig, 1982. They were amazing.

DareDevil223 · 01/08/2026 13:29

So many over the years but I saw Sparks recently and that was joyous, Interpol - incredible. The Beta Band who I never thought I'd get a chance to see live, Scritti Politti - ditto.

Seeing Cabaret Voltaire last year was amazing as I've been a fan since forever. Back in the early 90s I saw Kraftwerk when it was still Ralf and Florian and that was amazing.

Edited to add, I've seen Depeche Mode many times over the years and that is always fantastic.

DareDevil223 · 01/08/2026 13:32

How could I forget seeing Bowie on his last tour? Supported by The Dandy Warhols as well so even better.

SuitcaseAndSecrets · 01/08/2026 13:36

I've been to loads since the 70s.. from punk to rock.. top famous artists.. but so far ( because I'm going to see The Cure in 20 days with my 21 year old Grandson.. I've waited 40 plus years.. and I'm sure The Cure will be my favourite ever ever!) My favourite was actually Boyzlife with Keith Duffy and Brian Mcdadden.. I've seen Westlife and Boyzone.. but those two together put on a fantastic show.. so much so l am going to see them again in November.

Artefact23 · 01/08/2026 13:44

Prince @ Maine road 1992

Gardenflowering · 01/08/2026 13:44

Foo fighters 3 times
Pearl Jam… OMG!!!
Nicklback.. superb live.
Aerosmith… wow!
Whitesnake.. back in the day, greatness right there
The Cult… fabulous
Elbow.. .. ear chocolate
Coldplay, wonderful

But, for thumping in your chest, Adrenalin level highs, out of body … cannot believe I’m breathing the same air as them… Metallica… cannot begin to describe the feeling when enter sandman began to play… the roof blew off the place.

Seeing Robbie Williams next year, he was cracking last time I saw him live, looking forward to that.

Billy Ocean, every year since 2018. He puts on such a good show. If you're near the front and he sees you taking a photo, he will wave at you or do a little pose or point just for you.

New Kids on The Block, 1990 as a teenager. Amazing at the time.

Madonna, Wembley, 2006. Brilliant performance.

KISS, Newcastle and London, can't remember exact year, 2019 or so.

I missed Linkin Park in London last year and will forever hate myself for letting my partner's brother go instead.

My friend is a gig photographer. Told me that Billy Ocean is the best he’s ever snapped! Friendly and professional, he gets to know everyone’s names and remembers them.
My mate doesn’t get star struck but he’s devoted to Billy.

Same as my brother! He knew Billy's tour manager a few years ago, and if we could have got to a specific concert in Harrogate, Billy was happy to meet us in person! Sadly couldn't go as my partner was really ill that day!

Nick Cave was one of my favourites too. Last time I saw him was open air in a smallish arena in Western Australia.

INXS at Kuranda Ampitheatre near Cairns was amazing too.

Leonard Cohen was magical whenever I saw him perform. Emotional experiences.

IdenticalHandTwin · 01/08/2026 14:08

Richard Ashcroft at the Manchester Apollo in 2000 💗

James in the late 90s at some underground club in Liverpool, absofuckinlutely amazing 😍 I'm sure the tickets cost us about a tenner. Tim Booth's voice and energy was out of this world, the audience danced like lunatics 💃

I was there too!

Also Steve Harley in Bradford and U2 at Roundhay Park, Leeds in early 1990s

I was at Roundhay park twice! Were you there the night it poured down with rain? 😅

He's still got the same energy. Saw him earlier this year at a very small venue in SW London. £25 which included the "best of" CD! Approx 2k people.

Unforgettablefire · 01/08/2026 14:15

Loads for me but my most favourites have to be managing to eventually get tickets to see U2 in Dublin.
Bryan Adams and Springsteen put on a great show too.

Digerydont · 01/08/2026 14:16

I saw Ian Dury and Dr Feelgood live in the 70s. Both brilliant then.

Queen, at the Rainbow and later Hammersmith Odeon in the 70s.
Also Eddie Floyd and Steve Marriott ( not at the same time) at Club Dog at the George Robey pub. But so many back then, hard to pick out a few. Loved Alice cooper, obviously David Bowie, latterly Robbie Williams about 10 years ago.

Steve Marriott…such an amazing voice.. such a sad ending.

I am beyond jealous…two of my absolute faves -especially with wilko in the lineup!
