Just that, really? Surely this would be the the right opportunity to actively campaign for something to be done about the climate change/ convert all non-believers? Where are these protesters, especially Saint Greta? Why they all gone quiet?

If you feel this way, why not put that anxiety and energy into action? I'm sure there's a group you can join near you that would welcome you to join in their activism.

You had one month's worth of rain in Valencia in one day in November 2024 leading to flash floods. Those extreme conditions don't happen on their own.
And anyone paying attention will know we have been burning here too - Arthur's Seat, Skegness, Wales and Tameside.
Manchester has had unprecedented air pollution in the last month. Smoke from Dovestone reservoir (some bint let off a firework and the dry grass caught fire) and wildfire on the moors (BBQ and a car crash, again two fires caused by human impact and dry moorland) has meant we've all been breathing it in.

Because they get so much hate from all the people who don’t believe in climate change. Even just on this thread Greta’s efforts have been ridiculed. There are others , such as Al Gore, who has used hos power and money to invest in companies who work sustainably whilst also raising awareness, but in a very different manner.

Activists are usually seen as loopy people unfortunately, so the message gets lost amongst all the controversy. It’s sometimes more powerful to work behind the scenes and target the big players.

I do what I can. Dont assume I dont protest or campaign.

Yes, it's nothing new. In the late 80s I was in my school's environmental group. A few decades later I feel like there's very little I can do, so I don't engage with it all.

I think Greta is bloody amazing for what she did/tried to do. Hats off to her.

I do hear a lot of shit about ULEZ and Khan. I sometimes get tired of arguing. Car free zones. Bloody hell, the shit I get at consultations. Extra costs for energy efficient development, shit we get from developers. No end to it. And this is just in this country, which is much more progressive than, say, the US.

It’s not about what’s trending, it’s about current affairs. Helping the people of Gaza wasn’t trendy.

Very unfair on Suffragettes to compare them to Greta. They had one issue and they fought for it until they won. They did not jump from once cause to the next for no particular reason.

Whereas Greta jumps from cause to cause depending on which one is trending most, sadly with the recent Indian cockroach protests, only after they had ended.

The people who believe “it’s just weather” are going to believe Greta? These people have never liked her because she’s young and female. They aren’t going to suddenly turn around now and say “oh, Greta was right”. They definitely aren’t going to respond well to a young woman saying “told ya so”. Why should they believe her now, when they haven’t with any other period of wildfires?

At this point, it’s more likely to be people like Jeremy Clarkson that pull people along with them. People who have been climate deniers and have now reached a point where they recognise this is very different to what they experienced as kids and more than just weather.
