Where is Greta and Just Stop Oil when half of Europe is burring?

Just that, really? Surely this would be the the right opportunity to actively campaign for something to be done about the climate change/ convert all non-believers? Where are these protesters, especially Saint Greta? Why they all gone quiet?

I don't agree that it's less about the cause, I just think that she can't protest about every injustice in the world because she is just one person. But yes, showing that individually we can all do something and have some influence is one of the things that is important to her.

I think people have completely unrealistic expectations of her and if she doesn't solve the climate crisis, world hunger and end every war she is seen as fake somehow. Wouldn't it be better to appreciate her efforts, which far exceeds the efforts of the vast majority of people.

What is going on the last couple of days on MN? Thread after thread where the OP can’t string a sentence together.

OP I imagine those funding Greta & JSO have realised it’s an expensive & daft hobby.
Maybe Greta has had advice & realised the company she was keeping was not helpful to her own profile?
Let’s face it, none of her stunts brought about anything other than short term publicity and outrage at the complete lack of logic or purpose to what she was doing?
Hopefully she has found herself a decent summer job & will let the rest of us crack on with life & business without being inconvenienced & abused.

Greta isn't really funded by anyone. She has her own non-profit organisation which is funded by her book royalities and prize money. Maybe she gets some donations too but she doesn't have any big corporations behind her.

She has definitely helped to raise awareness of climate issues globally, so her "daft hobby" has achieved more than most people's daft hobbies ever do.

She was derided by people and the media. Certainly on MN she has her haters. The fossil fuel companies and their investors are going to do all they can to discredit her

Shouldn't you discuss that with your therapist? Greta doesn't even know you, and she certainly didn't make promises to you.

She had a great deal of financial backing which supported her failed efforts to deliver (imaginary) aid to Gaza. It was them who got her home and negotiated on her behalf.
As for abuse, was referring to the JSO activists who seized up progress and access for so many who deluded themselves that by gluing each other to the M25, major roads & the Shell HQ was actually going to stop climate change/global warming. It was these who I have seen firsthand abuse ordinary, hardworking folk just trying to live their daily lives. Greta has endorsed these activities so, by association she is condoning this sort of behaviour.

Heaven preserve us from that sanctimonious, holier-than-thou, little madam.

Nobody needs her to point out what is staring us all in the face on the news every night.

She was on the boat heading to Gaza but this wasn't her initiative nor was she raising the funds. The organisations behind it has been around since long before Greta even started her climate protests. She was there to help deliver baby formula, diapers, medical supplies etc. and obviously raise awareness. Hardly the acts of a demon.

She has also not glued herself to the road in the UK with the JSO. She can be supportive of an organisation's overall mesage without being held accountable for their every action. The same way you can be a fan of a football team but not appreciate every player's actions.

She was very much the poster girl for the flotilla, which had minimal supplies onboard, it was well documented that this was a PR stunt for political purposes. A demonic act? Of course not, but the danger she placed herself & others in was a ludicrous choice.
Re:JSO please re read my post, I said that “by association” she endorsed these outrageous behaviours and she endorsed them in a number of statements.
I do not believe her intentions are not well meant, but anybody with a brain can conclude her idealogies are at best, beyond naive.

Neither was Greta until she was. So you can certainly become any sort of activist you like, instead of expecting others to do the work for you. But that’s not why you asked, is it?
