Terror attack on Berlin Pride

HermioneWeasley · 26/07/2026 09:17

police are looking for a suspect with Islamist links.

yesterday I saw that islamic bookshops run by the Muslim brotherhood (who are banned in Egypt and I think the UAE) are bringing “workers” over on skilled worker visas. The UAE has stopped government scholarships to British universities because they are worried about their young people being radicalised here!

islamic terrorism is a problem. 75% of Mi5’s watch list are Muslim.

how do we remain a safe and tolerant place for the many peaceful Muslims while still retaining our values and safety?

A few years ago this would have been a trending thread. Everyone is so habituated to these attacks now that one fatality barely registers.

Instability and war around the world leading to illegal immigration is the area to be focussed on
Pre natal malnutrition and trauma leads to long-term behavioural changes, ( it’s an scientific fact ) including a higher risk of aggression and emotional regulation issues in adulthood.

We can’t solve all the world problems but we need to recognise the issues beyond
’some communities are just bad’…
it just isn’t as simple as that.

When we look at what Israel is doing in Gaza they are creating a future generation of traumatised and potentially dangerous individuals. We, the U.K., and most countries around the world are not standing up to that.

Our modus operandi will be to blame the very people we are abandoning
and then we will wonder, again, why they are being aggressive into the future again and again

Don't infantalise people from other cultures - everyone has agency, not just Westerners.

This isn’t traumatised individuals randomly attacking people- the attacks are targeted and mostly the victims are girls and gays and Jews.

Ariana grande attack
attempted attack at taylor swift concert in vienna
3 gay men killed (reading?)
Manchester synagogue attack
Golders Green - ambulances and stabbings

now Berlin pride.

we have to be able to talk about this pattern in a balanced way.

Do you not think the victims of October 7th were traumatised? Somehow one doesn’t expect them to ram cars into crowds worldwide though. I’m afraid these people were dangerous a long time ago and the danger is spreading across the world.

Pathetic pivot to blame Israel for worldwide Islamic terrorism. Wow! So subtle!

People In war zones and those being denied basic human needs aren’t in a position to make their own decisions
other than to get out

Your post suggests you do not appreciate the lasting affects of pre and post natal trauma, war and malnutrition

My post clearly was an example because
I’m assuming
Most people in this country know what’s happening so can, at least, relate

There are many people around the world going through trauma
but the pp to mine talked of Muslims so it’s perfectly relevant to identify the current war

Why? It is OK to talk about things that are in the news and mnhq aren't going to delete a discussion like this.

If people start posting racist rubbish like the Great Replacement Theory or hate speech about Muslims etc. as often happens on these sort of threads, those posts might get removed.

Because we are not dealing with it
We
wait till something bad happens and then react
We deny that traumatising environments exist and turn a blind eye

Short term solutions don’t lead to a long term gain. We ( and I mean the wider world ) need to deal with the root cause.

Re the Muslim brotherhood and them bringing people on on skilled work visa surely this has to be stamped out now ?

No, 75 percent is the share of MI5's counter-terrorism workload and caseload focused on Islamist extremism, not the total percentage of people on their watchlist. The proportion of Islamist-related subjects on the wider watchlist/database is estimated to be even higher, at around 90 percent.

We take Poland's approach

smallglassbottle · 26/07/2026 12:30

This is how it's going to be going forward, so we need to get used to it. I don't know why people are surprised.

Why? This terrible act took place in Berlin and was carried out by one person as I understand it. Why should we punish innocent people in the UK?

floppybit · 26/07/2026 12:35

We don’t have the balls to do anything about this, so it will just get worse and we will just keep on singing don’t look back in anger.

I'll await freed Israeli hostages arriving in Europe to drive cars into innocent civilians, or targetting intoxicated girls on a night out and gang-raping them.
Let's see if your deep understanding will extend that far.

Except we both know that's never going to happen.

Really ? Where is this data from.. I did prevent training a few years ago and the threat from radical Islamists was barley mentioned it seemed more focused on far right groups ? ( Non religious )

denying the scientific effect of trauma and malnutrition particularly pre natal and early years

is partly ( some would definitely say mainly )
why we are where we are

Google it. But if you can't be bothered:-

The statistics regarding MI5's active caseload and the wider national database originate from two distinct primary sources: official intelligence threat updates provided directly by MI5 leadership, and parliamentary evidence compiled from independent reviews of terrorism legislation.
The specific origins of both figures break down as follows:

  1. The 75% Active Caseload Figure
This data comes directly from official public statements and annual threat updates delivered by the Director-General of MI5, Sir Ken McCallum. 1, 2]
  • The Source: In these regular addresses, the head of MI5 explicitly outlines the agency's live operational landscape to the public and the media. 1, 2]
  • What it means: When MI5 refers to this percentage, they are describing their "live" workload—the high-priority, active investigations into individuals or cells currently plotting attacks or actively facilitating terrorism. In recent years, this active pool has consistently remained split at roughly 75% Islamist extremism and 25% extreme right-wing terrorism. 1, 2]
  1. The ~90% (39,000 out of 43,000) Watchlist Figure
This information originates from Home Office data and independent think-tank analysis submitted directly to UK Parliamentary Committees. 1, 2]
  • The Source: The specific figure stating that as many as 39,000 out of the 43,000 individuals on the broader watchlist are Islamist extremists was published in a comprehensive counter-terrorism report titled Modern-Day Britain's Terror Threat by the henryjacksonsociety.org/publications/modern-day-britains-terror-threat/&ved=2ahUKEwitzMTKofCVAxWZQUEAHSxuJjIQy_kOegYIAAgTEAI&opi=89978449&cd&psig=AOvVaw2-5VyQyU3bfgOPcpDnON0X&ust=1785152542426000" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Henry Jackson Society. This data was subsequently submitted as formal written evidence to UK Parliament Committees assessing the nation's security landscape. 1, 2]
  • What it means: This total reflects the broader, cumulative database of potential threats. It heavily draws from historical re-checks conducted by intelligence services following the 2017 terror attacks. This database includes a massive volume of "Closed Subjects of Interest" (CSOIs)—individuals who were flagged, flagged-and-vetted, or investigated during the height of Islamic State and Al-Qaeda recruitment eras, but who are not under active, daily surveillance today. 1, 2]

MI5 operating in new era of terror and state threats, says chief

In an annual speech, Sir Ken McCallum says the security service is operating in "a new era" with terrorism remaining an "ever-present threat".
