I thought the sound was a bit off. I kept turning the volume up and down. I hate it on other programmes when the music is louder than the dialogue.

@MewithME series 2 of Ludvig starts with a fairly long recep of series 1 which was heloful. ๐Ÿ˜

The King George programme was mind blowing in terms of his extravagance.

Hope the tablet has gone where it's supposed to be @TeaAndStrumpets

Thanks! No hole burned through yet ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who found the speech muffled. We have a sound bar with "Hearing Aid Technology" and it sounded poor.

Morning
Another one who watched Ludwig last night! DH decided just as it started we should have re watched series one as he couldnโ€™t rememberโ€ฆ but we compromised and watched the catch up at the beginning twice and we were fine! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I think it's something I'd be happy to rewatch, so fine either way!

Finally our oven part is here! Do you have the decorator again @TodayIsabetterone ?

TodayIsabetterone · Today 07:40

I think had DH suggested re watching last week, Iโ€™d have been happy but I was really keen to see the new series last night.

Great news re oven part Tea!

Yes decorator here again today. Hopefully heโ€™ll manage to finish today and then the weekend can be spent with DH moving all the furniture back in the room! We do need new curtains too and Iโ€™ve been looking online as has DD but Iโ€™m thinking she might need to be back and see the room before she decides which colour will be best.

Well done on the cinema @MewithME but hope youโ€™re able to rest and recover today. It really can feel like an uphill struggle of constant PEM before the next thing comes along. ๐Ÿ˜•

I was up before 6. I take some medication once a month which can cause damage if it gets stuck. The tablets vary enormously in size and this month I got an enormous round one which was difficult to swallow. I had 3 glasses of water and have been sitting bolt upright so hope it's gone down now! I actually ate a few crackers which was all I had available, though not supposed to eat for an hour. Of course the more I think about it the more I imagine it's still there.

Breakfast soon so then I'll know I've survived!

Morning @TeaAndStrumpets . I find tablets get stuck more often these days. Makes me worry sometimes about my ability to swallow ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Anyway, I often take them with a smoothie rather than water if that's allowed. Or kefir yogurt drink. Something gloopy pushes them down more.

Thanks. Yes I can rest today thankfully. dS is with his dad later. Boring and lonely day ahead.

I'm usually fine but they vary tremendously. The bullet shaped ones are better, just bad luck this was like a horse pill!

Hope you have a little rest and some fresh air today, just sit outside and listen to the birds. X

My friends who are single mums find the full on and then off pattern hard. Even more so when living with illness.

Hope at least part of your day has some intentional rest, restorative activity or something soothing or just some space.

I've just remembered that my Mum actually did have a hole in her throat! She had a tracheotomy as a toddler and it left a little tuck of skin. She had Diphtheria and being driven to hospital by the local GP was the first time she'd ever been in a car. This would have been in the 1920s. I think she was kept in an oxygen tent for a time, that was pretty much her only memory. And people "don't believe" in vaccines ๐Ÿ˜ก

MewithME · Today 09:04

Thanks @TeaAndStrumpets and @HannahDefoesSpringFling . I'm going to mainly go to bed this afternoon once DS heads off. It's actually wet outside...but the sun is out. Might stick a cushion down and read my book for a little while perhaps.

My summer reading efforts have been dismal. I haven't made much progress. I'm reading Chris Packham's autobiography...it's sweet but I'm not finding it too easy to read for some reason. I think the perspective jumps from person to person and it's very descriptive and I think my poor brain isn't picking up everything.

Is that Fingers in The Sparkle Jar? I started and couldn't finish. He's obviously a decent chap but not an engaging writer.

I mostly read fiction ( need escapism!) but I can recommend Ade Edmondson's autobiography, Berserker I think. Couldn't put it down.

I have found sound quality on the BBC very bad sometimes and on other channels. They also mumble which doesnโ€™t help so Iโ€™m glad I use subtitles

MewithME · Today 09:27

Yes! @TeaAndStrumpets Glad it wasn't just me!

Ohh that would be a good one. I have all sorts on my unread book pile. My favourite switch off read is Agatha Christie (bit like rewatching TV shows for me) but I have a load of others that are more intellectual and heavy in the non fiction pile. I'm rubbish at getting through them though. I think I'll go back to my other one!

Agatha Christie was a fascinating character. I wish she'd written an autobiography! I really enjoyed Lucy Worsley's TV series.

Just to add, for super-cosy, Patricia Wentworth Miss Silver mysteries are very Christie like. She is always knitting! In nearly every book she is just finishing off a matinee jacket for the couple featured in the previous book. Bags of period detail, like watching a black and white film on a Sunday afternoon.

DH and I both spend quite a proportion of our telly watching time yelling, "Switch the bloody lights on!" .
Clearly we are both infuriated by a sad effort to describe "atmosphere ".

I often put them on... mainly because DS loves talking over things ๐Ÿ˜†

Edited

I had Lucy Worsley's audiobook on AC. Was pretty good but I don't think I finished it. I did my usual falling asleep and losing my place. Happened so many times I just gave up!

You mean you never reached the final chapter set in the library, when All Was Revealed?

I agree about the sound on Ludwig - thought it was me because I watch on the laptop! I often have subtitles on too, it helps me concentrate. Love Agatha Christie too, I think my favourites are the radio adaptations of Poirot.

Hope you can have a rest today @MewithME but I totally get the lonely and boring feeling.

I'm a bit discombobulated - woke up before 6, got up and had breakfast and went back to bed, thought I might briefly doze, and then I woke up again about half an hour ago. Got my breathing class shortly then no other plans for the day, although I should have a tidy up.

This made me smile! I grumble frequently to DH that I canโ€™t see whatโ€™s happening!

Will add the Ade Edmonson book to my list! Iโ€™m mainly fiction but always enjoy an autobiography if itโ€™s someone I like. I canโ€™t take to Chris Packham for some reasonโ€ฆ No idea why, heโ€™s probably a lovely chap so I always feel guilty if I take a dislike to someone for no apparent reason at all!

JewelleryCat · Today 10:29

The best Poirot for me has to be David Suchet and best Marple has to be Joan Hickson. I do also like Julia Mackenzie as Marple
