@TodayIsabetterone when my oven broke..some wonderful chap came and told me it wasn't worth repairing (it was ancient) recommended a new one which I could buy through them...came back in no time (could have been next day) and fitted it.

Can I remember who it was? Nope! Idiot me. I need to notice these things for next time ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Was the least hassle possible. I happily pay a least hassle possible premium.

Right... someone tell me off because I'm sat upright in bed and I need horizontal rest!

Oh yes! If only tradesmen advertisedโ€™ the least hassle possibleโ€™! Quite the USP ๐Ÿ˜Š

Now telling you off nicely but LIE DOWN @MewithME ๐Ÿ˜€

Someone tell me to stay out of DDs room and let DH do it ๐Ÿ˜‚ He already has but I still keep popping up there!

JewelleryCat · 19/08/2026 12:41

@TodayIsabetterone other threads scare me too, especially with how it descends into nastiness. Thatโ€™s why I only comment on a few, like here where I like the vibe

danglethedingle · 19/08/2026 12:43

Not feeling right today. I just want to lie down. So I am. Hopefully better tomorrow.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/08/2026 12:51

At least my oven was clean when it broke, so I wasn't shamed! Oh the dust @TodayIsabetterone and it travels through the house too. Lie down @MewithME , you know it makes sense!

I would really like to do some exercise for my stiff neck and hips, the osteopath helps a lot but in between visits I seize up again. I used to go to pilates but it was so tiring and I couldn't participate in all the exercises because of my osteoporosis. I have been looking at online classes but they all presuppose that one has some stamina! I think I might be better to see a physio 1-1 for some gentle exercises. I did see a women's health physio once and she was really helpful.

TodayIsabetterone · 19/08/2026 14:16

Absolutely @JewelleryCat!

Rest up @danglethedingle days like that are hard!

@TeaAndStrumpets I hadn't thought about the state of the oven ๐Ÿ˜‚ another reason to leave it for now!
Itโ€™s the dust behind the furniture thatโ€™s dreadful! I mean who pulls a wardrobe out to clean behind it unless you have to decorate! Iโ€™ve tried my best but had to concede defeat as my arm/ shoulder are objecting strongly!

When we first put the house on the market the oven was filthy! The cleaning guy had postponed so we tried to not worry about it for a week. Still got offers, although they did fall through ๐Ÿ˜I think many people put in a new kitchen anyway. Ours is practically vintage but very sturdy. Reclaimed pine, it's lovely and mellow but not really on trend ๐Ÿ˜„

Hope you have a good rest @danglethedingle !

@JewelleryCat you are so right about the meanness, you have to hope they're not as awful in real life! Good vibes here, for sure ๐Ÿ˜‡

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/08/2026 14:51

BTW @TodayIsabetterone our back door lock is broken! I seem to remember you had this. DH has gone out for the day and warned me not to lock it!!

The place is falling to bits ๐Ÿ˜‚

aliasfrog · 19/08/2026 14:52

Oh i can't believe i was spotted in the wild by someone many of you, I feel like a celebrity ๐Ÿ˜‚
I am careful what I post, it try not to get involved with things that have a potential to devolve to nastiness. I miss the good old days on here!!

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/08/2026 15:26

It is absolutely chucking it down!

Tiredandwired2 · 19/08/2026 15:32

๐Ÿ‘‹to everyone. I have been trying to catch up on the recent pages but my mind is like a sieve and the information doesn't stick long enough to reply to all. Sorry to those struggling with fatigue/lack of sleep/stress of everyday things that feel like a mountain with chronic illness. I am jealous of those of you that have had rain recently. Still none where I am

JewelleryCat · 19/08/2026 15:45

It is for me again as well. Had a shower earlier and now this one. Hopefully itโ€™ll last longer this time

Edit to say thunder too

FuzzyPuffling · 19/08/2026 15:47

I walked to the hairdressers for a cut and blow dry. I'm very curly now.

Hope your new hairdo survived any rain!

JewelleryCat · 19/08/2026 15:52

Rain is easing and no more thunder. Only that one rumble

MewithME · 19/08/2026 15:57

Hi @Tiredandwired2 . We had rain. I checked my pot plants after and they were still dry. We need a lot more than a shower I think but the breeze is nice.

I know what you mean about catching up. I've been quite chatty but it's all whining and drivel so you're not missing anything! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ™ˆ

Ha ha yes! Well remembered! We had a full day taken up with DH attempting to repair said lock, realising it wasnโ€™t in his skill set, going to buy the new broken bit for the lock only to find out no one stocked it as it was obsolete. He then came home pleased with himself for getting one that nearly fitted but would involve cutting out a small part of the door ๐Ÿ™ˆ Bless him he managed it in the end but how it didn't end in divorce Iโ€™ll never know ๐Ÿ˜‚
At least youโ€™ll soon have a lovely new build that hopefully will have working locks and ovens ๐Ÿ˜€

Oioiqueen · 19/08/2026 15:59

A little bit of drizzle here. DD got very excited, I couldn't even see it through the living room window ๐Ÿ˜‚ back to sunny and feeling warm. This morning felt lovely and we even had some puddles when I woke up. Shock!

MewithME · 19/08/2026 16:00

@FuzzyPuffling I STILL haven't sorted a haircut. It's been over a year. I look a fright. I really must just grit my teeth and go somewhat even if I can't cope. It's only an hour I suppose.

A local salon does quiet appointments for chronically ill people. Apparently it costs ยฃ150 plus the haircut....yikes. So back to trying to find a new one without banging music and bright lights.

OP posts:
Tiredandwired2 · 19/08/2026 16:07

@MewithME Its healthy to get it out. If not on here, then where else?
@FuzzyPuffling Are the curls due to the rain or purposeful blow dried curls. What a pain if the rain ruined it!

ยฃ150 for hair cut for quiet appointments. That should be illegal. They are capitalising on disability there. I wouldn't want to go there for that reason alone.

I have a mobile hairdresser for me and DD and a different one for DS. Who is coming today actually. Even when it's my DS appointment I am chatting. I don't mind it though, it doesn't wear me out anymore thankfully

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/08/2026 16:29

DIY haircuts here! I cut DH hair it's not too bad because it's wavy. . He has cut mine a few times far shorter than I asked but I am usually happy with it eventually.....

I think we are part way through the process. We've had a few days of DW40 and an electric file so far.

martha79 · 19/08/2026 17:05

I wonder if our houses are copying us in falling apart ๐Ÿ˜‚

I've cut my own hair for years - did it partly for money reasons when I was a student, but I've always hated the experience of going to the hairdresser (apart from one lovely guy I had for a while, had a tiny salon and it was only ever me in there at the time, no music, nice chat). I can't stand the noise, the lights, the leaning back over the sink, trying to concentrate on everything when I've not got my glasses on (could do with those relaxing glasses @MewithME!). At the moment I do a mixture of trimmers at the back and sides, and scissors at the front and top.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/08/2026 17:13

I go to a little salon in a village approx 35 mins away. Been going for years, even though we moved house. It's lovely & quiet. Very popular locally. Easy access for me as well and parking right at the door. Trims start at ยฃ25. Love it.
