@TeaAndStrumpetshow funny- I could have written that! DH and I also have boxes of letters to each other from uni too! Theyโ€™re probably hidden at the very back of the loft. I think Iโ€™d find re reading them fascinating but definitely wouldn't want anyone else to! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Indeed!

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/08/2026 08:24

Morning all!

We had rain overnight, so it feels like a normal day. Off to the osteopath shortly.

Hope you are all feeling cool, calm and collected!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 18/08/2026 08:38

Morning.
Lovely start here with blue sky & fluffy white clouds.
Hope the appointment goes well @TeaAndStrumpets.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/08/2026 08:38

Morning all. Just trying to catch up with your chattiness!

MewithME · 18/08/2026 08:40

Morning @FuzzyPuffling how's tricks?

Morning, proper rain here overnight too, at last. Not a great night's sleep again - one of the cats woke me up with furball noises at 3am then I just couldn't settle, brain is very busy. Just plodding through a day of work again.

MewithME · 18/08/2026 09:24

I can empathise @martha79 . I'm having a run of bad sleeps but at least I am still off work currently. Hope today goes ok for you.

Rain here overnight. I've still got the fan going. I just feel boiling. I am in the last throws of menopause. Officially menopause and not peri if my body doesn't muster a final hurrah before September! I did hope that eventually it would be good for me once past peri, and any pains and peri symptoms would finally untangle from the MEcfs... there's always hope!

OP posts:
martha79 · 18/08/2026 09:29

It's so annoying @MewithME - I can do impressively deep napping during the day but can't settle at night (even if I push myself not to nap). Fingers crossed the menopause works some magic for you.

I forgot, I did have some more cheerful news, came across some online art therapy workshops that look fun. I've been looking at some in-person craft stuff near me (there's a nice cafe/ workshop place nearby and also a local chronic illness charity who run a craft group in the library once a month) but don't quite feel up to going in person, so thought this would be a nice thing to do for now. I've signed up to one which is on the theme of 'home' where you sew a little house and explore some stuff around home, seemed like good timing after the move!

TodayIsabetterone · 18/08/2026 09:31

Morning all
No rain yet but a cool and breezy 21ยฐc today! Been outside with dippy dog and now back in bed with a cuppa and sausage dog snuggles.

DD is away for a few days tomorrow so we have a decorator booked as thought it would be easier while she isnโ€™t sleeping in there. However sheโ€™s insisting on sorting her very messy room out without help but we will need to get in there once sheโ€™s gone to make sure itโ€™s ready for the decorator to start. Iโ€™ve a feeling her โ€˜readyโ€™ and our โ€˜readyโ€™ may not be the same ๐Ÿค” so tomorrow could be a busy one. DH will move the furniture but there will definitely be a lot of dust behind it! Not fun but another house job will be ticked off the list at least.

Hope youโ€™re not too sore after the osteopath @TeaAndStrumpets but will be worth it in a day or two!

Ah the online craft workshop sounds just lovely @martha79 and a perfect theme for you!

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/08/2026 10:47

Back from the osteopath, which was rather gruelling today, but hopefully it's no pain no gain! My left hip/lower back is like a seized up jar lid...I think a chiropracter would give it a sharp knock but prefer deep massage from the osteopath!

The osteopath is in a local shopping centre and it's hazardous just on the pedestrianised bits. I'm good at dodging prams and (children on) scooters but nearly got tripped by a small dog on an extended lead which appeared in front of me at ankle height as I walked back to the car! Talk about booby traps and trip wires.

FuzzyPuffling · 18/08/2026 10:56

We had a spit of something pretending to be rain overnight. Cats remained dry.

Today I must cut DH's hair and continue making a weirdly shaped curtain as requested by my very lovely son in law.
Strange sort of life.

JewelleryCat · 18/08/2026 10:58

Cherry van yet again for me

TodayIsabetterone · 18/08/2026 11:22

Spots of rain!! โ˜”๏ธ How lovely ๐Ÿ˜Š Though Iโ€™ve got washing out ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oioiqueen · 18/08/2026 12:44

Car is filthy today so must have got some rain last night. The air smelled like it had also. Going to take a good while for the grass to look like it's going to go green.

TodayIsabetterone · 19/08/2026 08:46

Morning, woke quite early as needed painkillers and decided to see if moving about might a little help. A big shock to see actual rain this morning rather than yesterdayโ€™s spits and spots! Dippy dog took one look and backed up through the door. Eventually was persuaded out by me holding her favourite treat underneath the garden parasol where she did the speediest wee ever and shot back through the dog flap at top speed ๐Ÿ˜‚

DDs first solo flight yesterday to visit her brother. Flight was delayed! Then I was anxiously watching her location as sheโ€™d put her tracker on so DS knew timings to meet her off the airport bus! She was absolutely fine. Sheโ€™s going to be travelling during her gap year so I need to get used to it!

DH will be busy getting DDs room ready for the decorator coming tomorrow. Sheโ€™s done a pretty good job of packing up her stuff so itโ€™s mostly moving furniture today so I canโ€™t do a lot to help there but will hover around with a damp cloth for the dust and try not to over use my damn arm as itโ€™s painful to start with today.

Having thoughts of โ€˜Oh imagine what I could do if only I didnโ€™t have constant fatigue and chronic painโ€™ which arenโ€™t helpful thoughts really but there we are!

Hope everyone has an okay day ๐Ÿ˜Š

MewithME · 19/08/2026 09:39

@TodayIsabetterone yes, actual puddle on my flat roof that needs replacing! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Hope the decorating goes well.

I have so much need for decorating and gardeners and a roof. Still feeling too awful to deal with any of it. One week left to rally, see my mum and then be back at work. I feel absolutely awful still. So weak and my head is thumping still this morning.

Pretty sure it's a crash as I don't have any other symptoms that make sense for it to be a virus.

DS is seeing his Dad later so I'm going to have a guilt free day in bed.

OP posts:
TodayIsabetterone · 19/08/2026 10:05

Sorry to hear youโ€™re still feeling awful @MewithME A guilt free day in bed sounds like a good plan.
I hear you, Itโ€™s so hard having any spare energy for the extra jobs like gardening/ decorating. People have said to me, just find someone to do it! Not understanding that I need to be well enough to organise it, get quotes in the first place. Then be well enough to cope with having workmen here.
Not really sure I am well enough to be dealing with it right now but DD kept asking and seemed sensible while sheโ€™s away for a few days. Iโ€™ll need to keep dippy dog out of his way anyway as sheโ€™s still a nightmare with strangers so thatโ€™s my excuse for holing up in the lounge at least!

MewithME · 19/08/2026 10:08

@TodayIsabetterone oh exactly that ! When I have had someone in to do a job, I have PEM!

OP posts:
martha79 · 19/08/2026 11:19

Sorry you're feeling so rough @MewithME - I hope the day in bed helps.

Glad DD's flight went well @TodayIsabetterone. I've also been trying to explain to people that "getting someone in to do the job" isn't that easy - I felt so ill when the Virgin Media guy was here drilling and hammering! I discovered last night that my oven isn't working (first time I'd tried it) but I'm not going to get it fixed immediately, I can manage with the microwave and wait until I feel up to sorting it.

I didn't sleep well again, keep waking at 3am and my brain goes into overdrive. Not feeling too awful today though.

I think we might have mentioned the Rest Repair Recover classes on here before - I've been doing them regularly since the start of the year and have just signed up to their more intensive programme for eight weeks in September/ October - a friend with LC/ CFS has done it recently and found it very helpful so I'm hoping it's worth the money and time.

MewithME · 19/08/2026 11:24

Lol I misread that @martha79 was thinking about some new glasses that help you rest and recover....his disappointing ๐Ÿ˜‚ classes are more effort but anything that's helpful is good. X

Just checking in, I'm still here!
Life is just plodding on really.
Just trying to get through the week without being in the red on my energy balance. Really hard.

MewithME · 19/08/2026 11:26

Sorry you're having a hard week too @aliasfrog . I saw you out in the wild on another MN thread ! Take it as easy as you can.Flowers

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/08/2026 11:43

Hi all, good to see you @aliasfrog hope your energy comes back a little.

@martha79 welcome to the broken oven club! Ours is awaiting a part.

@TodayIsabetterone I get worn out having repairmen in too. DH was out on Monday so I supervised oven guy, today DH is out again so I'm hoping the oven part isn't here yet! The worst thing is answering the door to delivery men who plonk a heavy box onto me. It doesn't help my sore neck and hip.

@MewithME a day in bed is probably a good bet! Hope your batteries get a good charge.

JewelleryCat · 19/08/2026 12:01

I woke up at 6am for no reason at all so Iโ€™m feeling very tired and itโ€™s only lunchtime!

I saw you too @aliasfrog and wanted to wave madly but other threads scare me! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

The โ€˜oven repair clubโ€™ is growing @TeaAndStrumpets and @martha79! Iโ€™m the founding memberโ€ฆ. Will I get a prize for most
months without an oven? ๐Ÿ˜€ I actually think ours may need to be replaced so Iโ€™m not really in a rush for that expense.

Well Iโ€™m already stressed by boxes of DDs stuff and random bits of furniture appearing everywhereโ€ฆ. and the dust! Oh my word! Decorator popping in shortly to finalise times etc, DH is convinced heโ€™s not expecting us to be ready by then which is a good job really as not sure we will be! Iโ€™ve done some short bursts of wiping the worst of it but have to keep stopping and sitting.
