What did you drink?

Dh and I are trying to remember the drinks of our youth. (Neither of us were big drinkers, so we didn’t actually drink most of these!)

We remember:

Lager and Lime
Something and Blackcurrant - was that also lager, and did it have a name?
Something with Guinness in it.
Rum n Coke
Tequila Slammer, with salt and a wedge of lemon (or lime?)
Yayger Slammer (? I was not one of the Slammer crowd.)

We’re sure there were more, but we were too busy being squares 😆

I think the only thing I ever drank was the occasional lager and lime or rum n coke.

Is the second one a Snakebite and Black? Memories of uni bar make me think it might be!

Thunderbird - after extensive research it was the most ABV per pence!

Snakebite and Black was half lager, half cider and blackcurrant cordial.
Merrydown cider.
Southern Comfort.
Metz towards the latter end of the 80s/early 90s.
Newcastle Brown ale in bottles.

Cider and black, diamond white cider, southern comfort and Coke, Malibu and Coke but I was at the very end into the 90’s

Snakebite sounds familiar - but I don’t remember what it was.

I also remember that it was not L&L that I used to drink occasionally, but lager shandy. Or, when I was really pushing the boat out (😄) Sol with a wedge of lime shoved into the bottle.

Snakebite usually with Merrydown Silver cider which was the most potent I think!

And (possibly a Northern thing) we used to drink 'Red Witches' which was a pernod and black in half a sweet cider. We thought we were sophisticated.

Snakebite definitely had blackcurrant in it. I didn’t drink it though.

i used to drink K cider. There was some alcoholic bitter lemony drink which had a name something to do with dogs….???

I also smoked (when I could afford them) either Black Sobranie or Sobranie Cocktail cigarettes instead of my usual JPS.

Does anyone remember those? They had coloured papers and I thought they made me look more glamorous with a fag in my mouth

Me too 88-92 and all these were the popular drinks. Also long vodkas if in a nicer bar in town (Angostura bitters - yum). Newcastle Brown Ale too (worked in a bar, so was chuffed with myself I could do the proper upside down pour😆).

For a bit I drank Southern Comfort & lime cordial- SO strong.

OP, I'm a reverse square- partied hard, then when had my kids 22 years ago I just lost interest.

I was early 90s but Jack Daniels and coke was really popular. Remember white wine spritzer being very sophisticated too

All a bit sickly, tbh.... don't drink any of them now!

Beer (especially Newcastle Brown and Guinness). Cider. Jack Daniels and coke. Ridiculous amounts of port at balls. Literally swigging it from the bottle in a ball gown (with officer cadet or sports club sash) and a bloody Marlboro light in the other hand. We were awful.

Oh yes, my mate was Archer's & lemonade (has made a come back with the 'yoot', as in evidence at DS2's 18th party - bottles of it strewn around our kitchen).
