I'm going to Wetherspoons later to meet an old friend, we will be eating there, but I can't decide what to have.
What do you recommend?

What do you like to eat?

hahabahbag · 08/07/2026 17:03

Menus vary between branches, or rather the full menu isn’t available everywhere. I tend to just have a burger or steak though

Woofwoofwoff · 08/07/2026 17:04

I love the loaded jacket spud with bacon and a strawberry daiquiri

Gowlett · 08/07/2026 17:04

Veggie Chilli is quite nice.

SurleyTurnip · 08/07/2026 17:06

3 small plates for £15.

username2185 · 08/07/2026 17:07

Get 3 or 6 plates and share.. bargain!

Anothernameretired · 08/07/2026 17:08

I like a steak, usually good value. Of course, you have to like steak.

Do they still have steak on the menu? I thought they had stopped serving steak.

The scampi is always good. I've eaten it in a lot different 'Spoons and never been disappointed.

PreachyPie · 08/07/2026 17:10

I will have a look at the small plates, that might be ideal.

I quite like their pizza and the curry you get with the naan.

Candleabra · 08/07/2026 17:12

All day breakfast. My go to at spoons

3 small plates for £15.

This, but they’re not actually that small. My DC like a pizza each and chips to share.

The pizzas are the size of a dinner plate and it’s a pasta bowl size bowl of chips.

Rollercoaster1920 · 08/07/2026 17:13

It's all brake brothers pre-prepared (processed) food. So if that is an issue avoid things like curry, chilli, pies and buy things that are simpler and cooked on site like gammon egg and chips, steak, jacket potato.

I expect the lettuce is bought in pre-chopped like the bags in the supermarket.

Thebinisrightthere · 08/07/2026 17:13

Careful, someone will be along to say they can't believe you're going to eat in a Spoons.

That isn't me, BTW. I like the boneless basket, jalfrezi or fish curry, burger etc

Yes, I liked the jalfrezi. DH asked what it was like and I said a supermarket curry. Which is what I was hoping for Grin

GisGasGus · 08/07/2026 17:15

Is what you eat with a friend different to what you eat with an aquaintance/enemy/family?

Is that a significant piece of data 😂

HarrietofFire · 08/07/2026 17:16

Their Ramen noodle bowl is surprisingly good.

Feelblue · 08/07/2026 17:17

I usually go for the things that have to cooked rather than microwave so fish and chips, gammon.

HarrietofFire · 08/07/2026 17:17

Menus do vary across Spoons though.

Lexy2345 · 08/07/2026 17:17

Another vote for 3 small plates to share

thenightsky · 08/07/2026 17:18

Sticky Korean fried quorn.
Fish and chips.
Pizza.

Avoid any chicken dish. Its so tough its inedible.

Pringlebeak · 08/07/2026 17:21

Second the ramen bowl. I have it with chicken and you get loads.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 08/07/2026 17:22

Former employee - avoid the chicken breast.
Burgers are okay but the old ones were better.
Pizzas can be okay depending on who’s on the pizza station - it can be night and day (I was a certified whiz tho, the trick is 30 seconds longer than it says on the SOP but don’t tell anyone).
Jacket potato is your safest bet, I had tuna or beans.
If they have the five bean chilli then get that with a jacket and some cheese - absolute banger and I was devastated when they took it off the menu in my pub.
Controversial opinion - I actually rate the chicken wings but I’m in the minority even among the staff. DH says they’re mining.
