There is no easy way to describe what Nigel Farage has just done, because to even try requires that you surrender your commitment to elementary logic. It is impossible to even express it in a single sentence, because at the end the sentence will negate itself.

The Reform leader is going to run a ‘people vs the establishment’ campaign over his right to receive undisclosed gifts from a man who calls him daddy and writes books called ‘How to Launder Money’. No, that sounds mad. Let’s try again. The Reform leader has triggered a vote in his constituency on the principle of whether there should be scrutiny of his finances. No that’s fucking crazy, that can’t be right. The Reform leader is going to sidestep a highly damaging news story by elevating it to the most important narrative in politics for the next six weeks. No, that doesn’t work either. It can’t done. You cannot make it make sense.

Not sure I agree TBH, remember everyone knew about the 5 million before the council elections? He is forcing the main parties to discuss the things that they didn"t previously want to acknowledge, and they are rightly holding him to account over gifts etc. that is good politics, he is responsible for stirring things up in a positive way IMO.

I will simplify it, he is saying to the other main parties - If you think I am not fit to be in power, run your candidates against me and throw me out of the race to be PM, it is pretty basic really. I though it was funny when the Reform guy yesterday said that Ed Davey should rise to the challenge and get his silly brightly coloured swimming trunks on and launch himself off Clacton pier in a hot balloon or some similar ridiculous stunt that just makes the public groan with embarrassment , that is the lack of political savvy that Farage is challenging, it is the reason 2Tier had to be levered out the door as he clung on with one hand.

None of that is "good politics". Farage is a boil on the face of the UK. Hopefully that boil is about to be lanced. His supporters will still support him though. Most have gone rather quiet on MN, so I respect you sticking by him.

Starmer has paid the price for that stupidity.

I mean, that’s as maybe, but it always makes me laugh how Reform voters bring up Epstein when your cult leader is a sycophant to Trump who, despite being a massive paedo, has one of the most powerful positions in the world and Farage licks his arse and reads from the exact same playbook like he’s some Messiah.

I also find it highly suspicious that Farage advocated for Madelson to be US ambassador, then the second Tranche of Epstein files dropped from the White House, everything to do with Trump was redacted but incriminating things about Mandelson were left in there and Farage started crowing about how much of a disgrace it was.

I think it was a deliberate act to undermine the government. I think Mandelson was a useful idiot who was spying for them to be thrown under the bus when the time was right. I’m not suggesting what he did was right, but more that it was a useful strategy to make the government look awful and Farage et al could take the moral high ground.

If he had any political ability at all, even just a tiny little drop, he probably could have gotten away with it, but as he was completely useless he didn"t get away with it, but people wanted him gone long before the PM scandal, lets not pretend that he was seen as competent up until then.

I was talking about the buzzwords specifically. The right wing do not think for themselves anymore. All their information comes from social media and all they do is go about using the same arguments and the same buzzwords thinking it makes them sound highly intelligent but doesn’t, it makes them sound robotic.
