I think it’s just the heat fatigue. It’s not been that hot today really but because it’s been so hot for so long it still feels stifling. I just want some RAIN!!

@the80sweregreat yes I'm genuinely amazed that 2 1/2 months of this has pissed me off so much. If you had told me this would happen, I would've said okay. I'm a winter hater. It's very confusing.

@ConstantlyFuriosa yes I had somebody watching TV super loud at 2 am last night. I was genuinely amazed though because it was so loud, there was less noise from that flat when they were watching the football.

Generally, I don't think people are being inconsiderate round here. One or two sure

I think it's just that everybody has their windows open at night.

I just cannot wait for some normality but I don't think that's coming to October.

And I don't particularly want to go from blazing Sunshine to rain and 8° straight away. But if it follows the May pattern, that's what we'll be doing. It's just been absolutely rotten all round. There was pretty much zero sunshine in February. It was all just solid dark grey cloud. I use a SAD lamp in winter - and this is still driving me nuts.

I’d love some rain as well. I thought it was going to earlier because the sky went dark but then it cleared to blue sky and clouds again a few minutes later

I hope the normality is coming earlier than October. I don’t think anyone will be able to do another two months of this

It does that here too, a sudden heavy darkening sky, the wind gets up and the trees start to move. It feels that rain is just about to fall and I start to hope. Then like the big light being switched on, out comes the bastard sun, hot and cruel and off we go again. I don't know how I am going to cope with another two months of this, guess I will just have to!

Hopefully cooler weather and rain will come earlier than October, it’s all we can hope for @Lifeomars

I hope the “it’s so lovely to sit in the garden in 30C, tinkly laugh” brigade can now understand that we are facing a climate emergency. And that this weather is very much not a good thing.

I’m still in Salzburg where it remains very hot. Yesterday was 37c and for me that’s just too hot to go out at all. I stayed in and read in the coolish house and DH took the children swimming in a lake and then up a mountain in a cable car - slightly cooler at the summit they said.

Last night we had a huge treat of a thunderstorm with a couple of hours of rain - I nearly wept with joy. However this morning the revolting and remorseless sun is back and it’s 30c forecast. 😥 By Monday it’s back up to 35c. I have decided this is my last summer holiday in anywhere other than the far north of Europe (Norway looks a fairly safe bet). We tend to travel by train and that’s accessible by train.

We've had a reasonable smattering of rain over the last few days in Cheshire. Enough to freshen all the grass and gardens up. There's a nice cool breeze this morning and forecast to only be around 20° today. Still too hot for me but much more manageable.

No sign of any rain at all where I am. I watch the forecast in despair for London and Essex.

I've reached a stage where I want to punch the lights out of people like that. Just in my family and social circle we have 3 people whose health has been compromised by the high relentless heat, two on medication that affects their body's ability to regulate body temperature and one who is a new mum and really struggling to keep her baby cool. Hot again here today, feels relentless and cruel. I love sunshine, but this is horrible and feels dangerous

I can’t believe that the UK is on drought watch when we did have a lot of winter rain and not everywhere has had this excessive heat. It’s worrying that there’s a need for restrictions. I will definitely go out on the rain when it does start up again! Hopefully it’ll rain for weeks on end in autumn.

Exactly. I couldn't believe it a couple weeks ago when I saw hazelnuts on the path that had been cracked open. They were not last year's. I've never seen this in July! So even though it's so so warm still, nature thinks it's Autumn.

I think that the seasons have kind of shifted with the months with what used to happen and what we get now.
I would love to know if it’s just my imagination, or just the fact that it’s much hotter. The trees and bushes look stressed, lack of rain isn’t good.

It was meant to get cooler in my part of East Anglia this weekend...that's gone out the window, 27 degrees tomorrow, 29 on Monday, 30 Tuesday, 26 Wednesday and then finally dropping down to 24 on Thursday.....then back up to 28 degrees next Tuesday. We were meant to finally get some light rain/drizzle next week but that seems to have disappeared from the forecast now completely 😥. It literally feels never ending!

Trees in my area are starting to basically already go yellow/orange like they do in autumn. I worry especially for wildlife that rely on them/bushes etc for their fruits and fattening up before winter. That could have quite a negative affect on them, couldn't it?

The wildlife is definitely going to suffer with this heat and change in the seasons and temperatures.

I use a UV- lined parasol but I can see that a black brolly would help too

I'm starting to see that no matter how much I plan for hot weather, I could not have planned for this

There is a limit to how much you can be forced out of your own home due to heat.

It's quite nice outside now, but the flat is disgusting.

I remember going to Salzburg a few years ago and it was 35C and the elderly holiday home host saying “ This is not normal. This is abnormal “. We’d expected cooler weather in Austria and the Alps but it stayed hot

I think a summer holiday in Norway sounds very appealing!

I don't really travel, (except in the past for the US,) but I always think of Western Europe as being hot?

I guess so, though like @Abracadabra12345I assumed that here in the Alps it would be cooler.

Shocking and heartbreaking

It has been cooler today but as soon as the sun pointed its rays directly at the back of my house we all started to fry again.

I also feel for all the wildlife that must be suffering in this weather too… a disoriented squirrel nearly ran in front my car earlier!

I go on holiday in two weeks (in the UK) it’ll either be boiling hot or pouring with rain the entire time (just guessing).

I’d be so happy to see rain right now! ….. but there doesn’t seem to be any incoming urgh!

Then tomorrow and Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday will be hotter

By the time we get to Thursday, it'll probably be hotter as well because the forecast will change

It's only meant to go down by 1° though
