I have shed a tear. 😢 I loved her.

notototo · 29/06/2026 11:30

She was so funny, she made an awful lot of people laugh ☺️

Yellowpapersun · 29/06/2026 11:31

That's so sad. She was a terrific actress and seemed to have a very happy home life. We'll never forget Margo.

RowsAndFlowsOfAngelHair · 29/06/2026 11:32

She was absolutely fantastic in everything I've seen her in. She worked hard to help the homeless too.

A sad loss. RIP.

SaraHoliday · 29/06/2026 11:33

Fantastic actress 💐

LovesLabradors · 29/06/2026 11:34

Oh no - I loved her! Especially Margo Leadbetter. What a wonderful actress - will be sadly missed.

ABitFab · 29/06/2026 11:34

So sad 😞

Jackiebrambles · 29/06/2026 11:35

Oh wasn’t she so fantastic as Margot, RIP lovely Penelope.

Miranda65 · 29/06/2026 11:36

She had wonderful comic timing. And, in The Good Life, at first Margo just seems to be a monster, but Penelope Keith also made her quite vulnerable, so you ended up loving her.

littleburn · 29/06/2026 11:36

Oh that makes me sad. The Good Life and To the Manor Born were staples of family telly when I was growing up. Margo was an absolute goddess!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 29/06/2026 11:36

Oh that’s very sad. I remember her in To The Manor Born especially. Very funny woman.

Lottapianos · 29/06/2026 11:37

Oh gosh, that's so sad. I absolutely loved her when I was a kid. She was so beautiful and striking and such a brilliant actress

ToiletKaren · 29/06/2026 11:38

Loved To the Manor Born growing up. She was great at making a character with unlikeable traits have a loveable side to them.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 29/06/2026 11:39

Just reading her wiki page. What a fascinating woman.

Judging · 29/06/2026 11:40

Oh, that’s really sad. Heard her on the Rosebud podcast not long ago - she was enchanting.

LoafofSellotape · 29/06/2026 11:41

Oh that's sad she was amazing.

Vulcanvolcano · 29/06/2026 11:42

That's is sad. She fought hard for Denville Hall too (the Actors Benevolent Fund care home) and dealt with the nasty politics around the board/trustee dispute really well I thought.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/jan/13/actors-charity-vote-to-reignite-dispute-involving-penelope-keith

From the reporting, it very much appeared she and the others were treated appallingly but they never were publicly rude or offensive about the internal politics.

Lalgarh · 29/06/2026 11:43

Penelope Keith and Yootha Joyce both burned into my memory from the 70s

FeltCarrot · 29/06/2026 11:43

Loved her as Margo Leadbetter in The Good Life. Her outfits were amazing.
RIP Penelope.

SwankyPants · 29/06/2026 11:43

Aww loved her. Cant believe she was mid 30's in The Good Life

Swampthing55 · 29/06/2026 11:44

Sad times RIP

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 29/06/2026 11:44

Nooo! Loved her. What a dreadful shame.

Reunited with Jerry.

topcat2014 · 29/06/2026 11:47

All the great actors from my childhood are going 😞

FWC2026 · 29/06/2026 11:49

😢 I've just read the sad news.

Amazing woman, loved her as Margo. I grew up with the Good Life & still enjoy it!

I'm so sad (as merely an admirer of her talent) my heart goes out to her family & friends ❤️‍🩹

They don't make them like that anymore 💕

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 29/06/2026 11:50

I knew one of her neighbours who said she was incredibly lovely and kind.
And she was so funny. Ah bless her. Sad day.
