How is Ariana Grande allowed to keep going?

fartotheleftside · Yesterday 18:30

She looks like she’s at death’s door with anorexia and yet she’s just kicked off a world tour.

I thought we were living in more enlightened times now and that celebrities’ ill health wouldn’t be enabled like this. If she went to any hospital she’d get admitted for malnutrition.

why do you think we need to discuss Ariana Grande?

Why shouldn't we?

Not so long ago, Kelly Osbourne was the subject of similar concern and press speculation. She clapped back that she was unwell. With grief. Thankfully she looks to be doing better. We can’t know what AG is going through but I think we can all agree the pressures in their industry must be unimaginable, whether external or self imposed. I admire them both.

I disagree it was a “clap back”

it’s someone with an eating disorder trying to manipulate the narrative to hide it.

i’ve dealt with a lot of grief, and a lot of ED’s. That’s not grief, it’s an ED using any excuse it can find to hide itself.

You would never allow anyone to discuss TS in any negative way, would you?

Who's the 'we'?

Is someone forcing you to contribute to this discussion?

you're the one who asked if WE should discuss this or that, I am just replying to you.

Since when is it in the spirit of the site to bully women online saying they are too fat, or too skinny?

GingerBeverage · Yesterday 20:23

The clips of her dancing she looks so tired and just slow. There’s no vitality. I hope she gets a break soon.

Greenwitchart · Yesterday 20:24

I am with you OP.

It is staggering that her family and management are not getting together to encourage her to tale a break and get the help she obviously needs.

Her health is more important than making more money.

The stress of doing a tour will be too much on her body and mind.

I don't see anyone bullying women for their body size. I don't know what thread YOU have been looking at. As a pp said, no-one is forcing you to read the thread.

No one is bullying anyone. How can you bully someone when they don’t even know who you are or what you’re writing about them?!

Taylor is a lovely normal healthy weight. A good role model to her young fans.

So is Ariana to be fair I didn't know of her until Manchester Ariana, despite my DS bringing her up in conversation he still absolutely idolizes her and I would rather him look up to her as a role model than someone like Bonnie blue or Andrew Tate.

I struggled with anorexia as a teen until I was forced into inpatient treatment at the age of 14.i really feel for her the effects of the Manchester bombing will no doubt have affected her mental health.

Such a huge talent and role model for many I hope she recovers

it's a thread bullying a woman on a public forum.

What do you think that is? A fan club?

Zov · Yesterday 20:28

@Blueeyedmale Correction, Ariana WAS a nice healthy weight and shape for her height. (Up to maybe 5 years ago....) She is not now. She is clearly very ill and suffering an eating disorder.

I do agree she is very talented though and a very sweet young woman, but you can't possibly think how she looks now is 'healthy?'

Who should forbit her to go on?

Forbit?

Rubuxus · Yesterday 20:31

Backedoffhackedoff · Yesterday 20:16

Isn’t it obvious the poster meant relative to their height?

not that Ariana should simply adopt Taylor’s weight.

It’s just a stupid comparison.

Taylor’s and Ariana’s body’s could not be more different so it’s just insane to even discuss.

"Bullying" has to be one of the most overused, and incorrectly used, words on the internet.

You can't 'bully' someone when you have zero power over them, and when they'd have to go out of their way to even encounter the supposed 'bullying'. I doubt AG even knows this forum exists.

AG is a public figure clearly suffering from an ED. Why are you so implacably opposed to people discussing this? It's a relevant issue to women, especially if they have daughters who look up to AG.

TutTutTutSigh · Yesterday 20:31

I really feel for AG, I imagine the trauma from the MEN bombing will affect her for the rest of her life, as well as losing her boyfriend.

bumptybum · Yesterday 20:32

costafortunum · Yesterday 18:49

Are you referring to some recent photos or something?

Yes. YouTube even blocked an image because its automatic filter system flagged the image as being inappropriate due to how skinny she was. Their system flags inappropriate images including glamorising anorexia. The system doesn’t know who the person is. It just triggered a block

she’s been seriously underweight for a few years now but she’s dropped into skeletal.

McChubble · Yesterday 20:32

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · Yesterday 19:04

It’s another Karen Carpenter situation (except Karen was significantly more talented).

Not only is this gratuitously bitchy, it’s also untrue. There’s many things you can say about Ariana Grande; that she isn’t talented isn’t one of them. She’s an outstanding vocalist.

Discussions don’t have to be categorised as either bullying or fan clubs you know.

it’s obvious you can’t bully someone when they have no knowledge of it.

PurpleLovecats · Yesterday 20:35

It’s hardly bullying when most are saying they are concerned about her.

I absolutely agree with you I'm not disputing anything your saying, the point I was trying to make was to the pp saying she can still be a role model an eating disorder doesn't make her a bad person, I wish her well and really hope she can get the support she quite clearly needs.

Lalgarh · Yesterday 20:39

The Ballerina chic that Ariana Grande has might also contribute to that appearance. I don't think I've ever seen her without her hair scraped back in that tight bun.

The media has settled on calling this level of skinniness "toned", which this YouTuber has taken issue with
