How is Ariana Grande allowed to keep going?

She looks like she’s at death’s door with anorexia and yet she’s just kicked off a world tour.

I thought we were living in more enlightened times now and that celebrities’ ill health wouldn’t be enabled like this. If she went to any hospital she’d get admitted for malnutrition.

I watched The Vanessa Feltz Show today, and they were talking about Ariana Grande, and all the comments people have been making online about her very small slight frame, and how she looks gaunt and ill. Vanessa said comments online have been comparing her to Karen Carpenter and Lena Zavaroni.

I wonder if Vanessa has been reading this thread! Shock

If so, Hello Vanessa! 😄

Lots of celebs hang out here

LemonadeisbetterCloudy · 17/06/2026 18:53

I am hoping she is looked after during the tour, and hopefully has a chef and people to cook her meals. I would be alarmed to think she will lose more weight with the sheer physical and mental toll a tour takes.

My 2 young adult DC have seen her a couple of times. They said she is wonderful live, such a strong voice, and yes funny and engaging. Smile

My daughter follows Ariana and is a fan.

however she said today that apparently her shows now she has to sit down for a proportion of it as she can’t stand for long periods.

if that is true, whoever is allowing that needs investigating. It can’t be purely driven by her, someone must be organising the venues, the choreographers, dancers, musicians etc, and have the power to just say no.

That's news to me. Maybe this is a recent thing? Ariana stands up to perform and dances as much as any other singer of her ilk. She sits and stays still for slower songs, but so do most other singers.

I think as the tour goes on she is struggling, especially last night's from what I have heard anyway. I didn't watch the live stream, as don't agree with the whole situation.

Terrible news, talking about eating disorders, (and Karen Carpenter and Lena Zavaroni losing their lives at a young age bcause of them,) it has been reported that a young actress has died after succumbing to a severe eating disorder.

The actress who played Samara in The Ring when she was about 11. (And also voiced Lilo in Lilo and Stitch., amongst many other projects.)

Utterly tragic. 😢 R.I.P Daveigh Chase. Flowers

She was 35.

From Wiki...

In June 2026, Chase was admitted to the Los Angeles General Medical Center for treatment of severe malnutrition following a period of extreme weight loss... During her hospitalisation, her condition became increasingly critical after she was diagnosed with meningitis and several severe systemic bloodstream infections, with doctors stating that she did not have much time left to live.

Review of AG in California. I love that she's based this around Eternal Sunshine on f the Spotless Mind

https://deadline.com/2026/06/ariana-grande-concert-review-eternal-sunshine-tour-1236956037/ also goes into more detail than that grain review. Only a slight mention it's exhausting for her.

In one room, Grande is adorned in her One Love Manchester outfit, while the second version of herself is supposed to represent the time when she dated late b.f. and “The Way” and “My Favorite Part” collaborator, Mac Miller. She’s trying to erase the pain and reconcile with her younger self, who she meets on a swing, and an ultimate senior citizen. The 32-year-old conveys the weight of her mind via fantastical epic means.

Gosh you couldn’t wait to link them could you! Daveigh Chase was a drug addict for at least the last 10 years of her life, living homeless and destitute in tent cities. Hardly comparable.

If her eating disorder was a factor in how she was living, personally I'd say it was relevant. It sounds like her life was completely wretched.

dozer222 · 21/06/2026 06:05

Becoming malnourished whilst homeless and in the grips of drug addiction is not the same as having an eating disorder, particularly as a millionaire pop and movie star. Yes her weight is concerning, but there’s a distinct whiff of hysteria around this thread.

It's been reported that her eating was disordered before she fell on hard times, though, due to being in showbiz at a young age. You sound rather judgemental, and personally I think it's in poor taste not to mention misogynistic to accuse people of 'hysteria' for being concerned about a celeb's welfare.

dozer222 · 21/06/2026 13:38

Misogynistic 😂 And I’m not remotely judgmental, it sounds desperately sad. That doesn’t mean it’s the same thing. And it’s not the ‘concern’ that’s hysterical, it’s the desperate need to link it to
a separate tragedy to whip up the drama, within moments of the poor woman’s death being announced.

Actually Ari is in quite a good state mentally and physically at they moment. He weight loss has been due to drinking less alcohol and work commitments.

How do you know this?

having worked with many ballet dancers that physique is not “a good state”.

giving up alcohol does not cause that amount of weight loss.

I don’t drink alcohol and have work commitments. Same as a lot of people.

Lalgarh · 21/06/2026 19:56

It's clear she's had a lot of trauma. It's the entire theme of her tour FFS. She does look drastically different from a few years ago and whilst it might be that she's quit drinking you can't Not see the possibility of the trauma she's playing out on stage affecting every aspect of her life, eg affecting her relationship with eating because, well she actually says so

Dismissing extreme weight loss as just 'drinking less alcohol' or 'work commitments' completely downplays what people can clearly see. Brushing this off is exactly how unhealthy body standards get normalised. As a massive role model, seeing prominent bones that are beyond thinness dismissed as a routine lifestyle change sends an incredibly damaging and detrimental message to the impressionable young girls who look up to her.

3luckystars · 22/06/2026 14:07

Some people are thin, but it’s the weight LOSS that’s the issue. How much alcohol could she have been drinking previously to lose it so dramatically after giving it up?

Get real.

Doub"t she was a ten pints a night girl anyway, it is just a headline to make the fan base think she is relatable.

But also making her seem healthy - that its somehow a healthier lifestyle that has caused the dramatic changes to her weight rather than she has been struggling with an intense phase of an ED

What utter tosh. This level of weight loss is not due to stopping drinking ffs. Honestly I despair at this line of thinking.

I can be all those things after a couple of Pernods.

I'm still available, if they want me to cover her on her world tour.
