She looks like she’s at death’s door with anorexia and yet she’s just kicked off a world tour.

I thought we were living in more enlightened times now and that celebrities’ ill health wouldn’t be enabled like this. If she went to any hospital she’d get admitted for malnutrition.

I think thatnis make up on her chest. She has pretty decent shoulder and arm muscle which i dont think she could maintain if her chest was that thin.

What if they’re seriously hurting themselves?

I think the reason for a section can be if someone is at extreme danger of harming themselves. A close relative was threatened with a section if they didnt have in-patient admission after 10 years of anorexia. That is probably the reason they are still alive - and healthy - today, over a decade later

I was shocked at Lisa Marie Presley's death as a result of bariatric surgery.

Michael Jackson was about to go on tour when he died from the medically administered anaesthesia drugs he was using every night to 'sleep'. If you're rich, or influential, you can always find doctors to do or say anything. Her record company, indurqnfe etc...probably have very well paid medics, operating under very carefully worded contracts. It's wrong, but it's the world we live in sadly.

Wow, you may not like her music but only someone tone deaf would say she can’t sing. She’s an incredibly skilled vocalist, with a huge range and real power in her singing voice.

There are people who know what it’s like to have anorexia in their homes, and people who just don’t. Lucky them.

What I keep thinking of while reading this thread is Valley of the Dolls. It was based on Hollywood many years ago, the main character needed to lose a few pounds and they sent her off or a clinic everyone was using, they basically put you into a coma for a week so she slept and rested and woke up thinner.

I imagine what goes on in music and film industry is insane and evil. It’s all about money and people are just a means to that.

It used to be so removed from us but not it’s in our hands, and it has crept in around us.

I think it's very hard to spot anorexia unless you know someone diagnosed. I have mil under six stone, ds under 8 stone and a friend who was 5.5 stone wearing 10 year old dresses. No one thinks they are even thin they are just slim.

The friend used to cut a finger roll in half for lunch. I was told on here years ago that she wasn't anorexic, that her diet and weight was normal then I was worried about her. I had to stop eating with her as felt like a freak.

I wouldnt now suspect anorexia unless their upper thighs was like a six year olds arms now. Like I say no one comments on these people with bmis of 16 and way under. Normalising it and envying it. Every year my son clothes get baggier and baggier. Occasionally my friend asks if he is anerexic or has a eating disorder and my rose tinted glasses drop off.

Everytime I say out loud that under 6 stones for a grown woman over 5,4 is too thin I'm met with "I weigh less I'm perfectly fit ultra marathon runner' sort of thing.

Plus people like the PoW, Victoria B wear fitted clothes. You can see they are super slim. Some seriously thin people would never been seen in such fitted clothes. Or indeed leggings and a vest top.

That's potentially different. Under the Mental Health Act, you could argue that those people don't have capacity if they refuse to take medication which regulates their condition and they have made explicit threats to harm others.

Interestingly enough (and forgive me if I'm wrong) but when Kanye West was posting on social media to let the world know which school his kids were attending (thereby potentially putting them in serious danger) and promoting and spewing hatred online (which can result in physical harm or danger to others), I didn't see many people calling for him to be subject to a psychiatric hold yet given the circumstances, he was probably a far better candidate for it than Ariana Grande is.

Anorexia is a mental illness so you cannot technically say someone has an eating disorder based on how they look. However being as emaciated as Ariana unless she has another medical condition, being this underweight is almost definitely due to malnourishment caused by severe restriction of food.
and tbh regardless of the whys being this underweight is a huge risk to the heart, brain and other organs so very dangerous to be performing at thus level.
