How is Ariana Grande allowed to keep going?

She looks like she’s at death’s door with anorexia and yet she’s just kicked off a world tour.

I thought we were living in more enlightened times now and that celebrities’ ill health wouldn’t be enabled like this. If she went to any hospital she’d get admitted for malnutrition.

It’s always women tearing women down.
The pressure about looks and weight is immense, she isn’t immune to that.
Why can’t we build her up?? Celebrate her incredible talent and success? How does this barrage of abuse help her in anyway?
Shall we go round shouting at people on the street with eating disorders?
Anyone who posts shit about people’s bodies and mental health is part of the problem.

Her record company are not doing their duty of care. They’re cashing in instead.

That's all the record companies/agents/managers and so on care about. The $$$$$. Tale as old as time, as someone said earlier, since the days of Judy Garland - and even earlier, people who are successful are treated like carthorses.

I don’t see a barrage of abuse. I see multiple posters concerned about a clearly vulnerable and unwell woman.

It’s really sad, like watching Karen Carpenter all over again.

I agree. That was heartbreaking to watch too. And it happens to so many young women. And moreso to famous young women. As has been said, the 'must be thin at all costs' look is revered amongst celebrity. I d wonder why Ariana went like this?

justasking111 · 12/06/2026 22:22

I'm appalled by Kelly Clarkson and Demi Moore. The skeletal look has gone too far.

BitDrizzly · 12/06/2026 22:26

I don’t think many posters are tearing her down, it’s more a sense of shock and concern.

She seems like a sweet and lovely young woman, naturally talented and beautiful. She also looks very, very unwell at the moment and it’s a travesty that she isn’t being supported by the people in her life to get help. Touring cannot be in her best interests currently.

The pictures and video from her tour are really distressing.

Gosh she’s a very unwell lady! I’m a mental health nurse and work with eating disorders and she should be having inpatient specialised treatment. Her organs will start shutting down soon at this rate 😔

Do you mean Kelly Osborne? If so, I agree. I was so shocked by how Kelly looked when she was on The Brits. She did say it was grief (after losing her father) but no way would grief result in her looking like she does. She looked SO gaunt and ill. I think this is a result of her overdoing the weight loss injections. Sharon has done the same. I know several women in real life who have gone down the same route. Went so far, lost 2-3 stone and looked good (went from size 18-20 down to a 14-16,) but carried on, lost another 3 stone, (dropped to a size 8,) and now look skeletal and gaunt, and a decade older.

Haven't seen Demi Moore. Has she gone too thin too? She looked great the last time I saw her.

.

Zov · 12/06/2026 22:38

@justasking111 OMG you're right about Demi Moore. Why has she gone so thin?! Shock (That dog she's holding looks terrifying!)

How is Ariana Grande allowed to keep going?
Zov · 12/06/2026 22:39

I can't find any of Kelly Clarkson looking ill and gaunt and too thin though @justasking111 That's why I wondered if you meant Kelly Osborne.

If that's really what you think is being said on this thread, you've been reading it very selectively. How is it abuse to express concern for someone? And no one's denying her talent and success. Maybe we're expressing concern because we don't want to see it all end in tragedy.

She looks very unwell and she's potentially not a very good role model for impressionable young girls.

That said, I really dislike the idea that a competent adult should be slapped with an involuntary psychiatric hold and have their autonomy stripped away just because essentially, people do not approve of their lifestyle. It's degrading, it sets a precedent and it sends a message: your right to autonomy is disposable.

With being an adult comes responsibilities as well as rights. She needs to own her choices, however unhealthy they may be and accept the short and long-term consequences that come with them. She is an adult. From what most people can see (albeit I'm not her doctor), she has capacity and she doesn't seem to pose a danger to anyone. On what grounds should her rights be taken away?

Don't get me wrong, it's disturbing to see but it's her decision.

If everyone whose chaotic lifestyles could be deemed a danger to themselves were sectioned under the Mental Health Act in the UK, the number of those detained would be unmanageable.

Grande has made a personal address politely telling ppl that actually when she looked healthy a few years ago she was hooked on antidepressants and drinking. And that now she is just very healthy and don't pry into ppls lives. But also that you don't know what ppl are going through...

https://nitter.net/Litney_Spears_/status/2063740359923147224#m

She looks drastically younger because of her body transformation. Maybe it's the ballet garb but it's like she's a child

I've not really been following this but the difference in her appearance is marked, and coupled with pictures like Demi Moore you can't help notice the trend

She needs to be sectioned (or equivalent in US)

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 12/06/2026 23:15

I feel very sorry for her. She is obviously really ill. But she is basically looked on as a huge money making product by the entertainment industry.

As for other Hollywood Celebs looking ill and losing weight. Well maybe they've had a little help from Ozempic /Mounjaro/Wegovy. Take your pick.

No longer do they to have pretend they have not had liposuction/body contouring.

Anyway l.really hope someone will step in and protect Arians and get her back on track to good health and wellness.

People with anorexia are sectioned and fed via tube if their weight is low enough. It’s already a thing we do. People actually aren’t free to starve themselves to death because of their mental health issues.

There is a test for anorexia which includes a complete blood count. You can't just detain someone based on their appearance. As awfully thin as she is, we don't have access to her health records (nor should we).

Also in the UK, detainment under the Mental Health Act for anorexia nervosa is seen as a last resort. Even when someone's health and life is at risk, there is still a balance to be struck between respecting privacy, dignity and individual rights to decline treatment and preserving life at any cost. Not least because being detained can also be incredibly traumatic for mental health patients and risk exacerbating existing poor mental health.

Who should forbit her to go on?

Whoever she has a contract with should have a legal duty of care under basic health and safety at work Act.

She is talented and few people are disputing that and that is not in any way negated by concern for her health.

Oh my goodness, I just googled and saw her; this is so sad, I got such a shock. She is such a beautiful woman, and looked so very healthy previously. I agree with not commenting on other women's bodies, but when it is unhealthy and life threatening than it is different. It needs to be addressed because she is a role model for young girls, and this is a disorder. Surely she won't have the energy to perform? Surely a doctor would deem her unhealthy to perform, is there not somebody there to check wellbeing etc.

I wonder what has caused this, I was thinking was it the Manchester 2017 tragedy that started and it has spiralled from there, fame destroys so many. I hope she gets help soon, or this won't end well.

And didnt her ex boyfriend die too ?
