Belfast attack

Greenwitchart · 09/06/2026 17:51

I can see that the previous thread on the topic is full so I am starting a new one to continue the discussion.

The points I wanted to say as someone who immigrated to the UK over 30 years ago:

  • This is a horrific attack and everyone's thoughts should be with the victim and his loved one.
  • However, I do think that we have an issue with some people getting into the country whether legally or illegally who simply don't have the same values as the majority of the population and are not able to follow its laws and customs.
  • The asylum and immigration system needs a serious overall and to do more to stop men who are a potential danger to society because of their beliefs/culture/failure to integrate getting through the system and ending up committing violent acts. Some people destroy their documents and checks can only go so far when it is hard to verify claims and the chaotic countries they come from does not have reliable records that can be accessed . There are many peaceful and genuine asylum seekers who just want a safe place to live in peace but we seem to be getting in too many angry, violent men who abuse the system and that has to stop.
  • I don't want to share the streets with people who have no respect for women and girls, are religious fanatics to the point of extremism or show hate towards gay people and bring violence in general.
  • Having people from different cultures coming in is fine as long as they integrate well and take on the values of the country they live in. It does not work if they just live parallel lives and fail to follow the law of the land.

Don't let them get to you. Flowers Fortunately, people like @Blightfitting are a dying breed. As I said, the tide is turning, hard and fast. It's such a relief, and I am so relieved to see happening that I don't give a shiny dog's bollock that there are still a small minority of people claiming ANYone who dares to say anything against this individual (and his ilk) is racist. I'm just rolling my eyes at them, seriously....

Sorry but "shiny dogs bollock" really made me laugh 😃. ..I'm actually just looking at some now courtesy of my Labrador. Oh, and I agree with every word you said.

kateluvscats · 09/06/2026 20:45

Thank god, finally a thread where people are talking common sense, it has been so disheartening reading posts from the extreme lefties jumping in saying we're all racist. No, we just want to live in a safe country not a dangerous third world one. I'm shocked by the gullibility of people who honestly believe these illegal immigrants are seeking refuge rather than for their own economic reasons, unchecked men with different morals and rules.
Thank you to all the posters who have stood together, you have given me hope.

No you are simply dismissing anyone who calls it out for what it is as a racist! Im
sure if you had the ability to read the room you will see that almost nobody agrees with you. And to be honest I don’t think they give a fuck what you think either, especially when you’re telling them how they should feel by plucking up some so-called “facts” from the internet!

The facts are from respected think tanks and research institutes including the ONS.

I would never dismiss anyone as racist unless they actually were. Wanting to deport criminals isn't racist.

But there are people suggesting much more, and that is racist.

BatchCookBabe · 09/06/2026 20:45

Blightfitting · 09/06/2026 20:44

Saying bad things against criminals isn't racist.

And if by 'his ilk' you mean criminals like him, that's not racist either.

But if you mean people who look like him or come from his country, that is racist.

I hope that clarifies things for you.

Yeah, except no-one is saying they don't want people here 'who look like him or who come from his country.'

You need to try harder.

Its not just the nationalist paramilitaries, its the loyalist ones saying it too. Extremists the both of them and very much in the minority, but the rest of us get caught in the middle. Violence is not the answer.

Agree but what will make the government act and take a stronger stand on immigration than they ever have and make some massive deportations?

likelysuspect · 09/06/2026 20:46

That document isnt particularly helpful but the closest I could find because what would be more helpful is a breakdown by country of origin for people who are not from the UK originally.

You literally are dismissing them as racist. You have come on this thread to argue against what people are thinking and feeling and done nothing but gaslight, pull out the racist card and any other shit you can think of. Now you are backtracking! How strange

shuggles · 09/06/2026 20:47

@Greenwitchart I don't want to share the streets with people who have no respect for women and girls, are religious fanatics to the point of extremism or show hate towards gay people and bring violence in general.

Some of them think you can't have an abortion, and some others will say something to you if they think you're attractive. That tends to be the manifestation of their sexism.

It's a lot softer that the misogyny you see from some migrants who grope women in the street because they were completely unaware that it's not socially acceptable to do that in the UK, or because they wrongly think all western women are obsessed with sex because that's what they saw on the internet before coming to the UK.

FlyingApple · 09/06/2026 20:47

I am genuinely terrified of what's happening to our country. I don't want anymore people getting attacked. Immigration needs reversing ASAP.

It's not ok that the crime happens at all. Why would you think that's what I said??

The two minute hate was a man stabbing someone’s eyes and sawing at a neck not posts on mumsnet.

All of you who are "I was an immigrant xx years ago" are all for pulling up the drawbridge behind you. Do you think that people see a difference between you and "new" immigrants because it's very unlikely.

This guy had leave to remain and will have gone through the Home Office process to get it. You're just shit stirring with your rhetoric.

Do I see the difference between a young graduate from Greece moving to London to take up an offer from a law firm and an uneducated feral thug from Sudan who attempts to behead someone?

Yes, I do.

Yep, I noticed this too. No longer engaging with that poster to be honest....

I'm not excising any criminal behaviour. I am just trying to persuade people to respond to criminal behaviour using facts and statistics, rather than arriving at conclusions based on other things. If we want to make society safer, we should base our policy responses on facts, surely?

But the facts are @Blightfitting That there are many, many, many cases of these monsters from violent and misogynistic cultures doing terrible things to British Citizens.

Whether it’s 1 act of sexual violence or 148 - it doesn’t matter. Whether it’s 1 act of attempted murder via beheading or 27 acts, it doesn’t matter. They shouldn’t be here.

They don’t share British values. They’re don’t want to integrate. They want to inflict harm/death on the people that live here. They don’t respect our women, and we are not safe whilst they walk around freely with their twisted, warped, wicked agendas.

You can spout statistics until you’re blue in the face (Although to be honest i’ve not seen you post any meaningful stats) The fact is simply that they should not be here, or in the case of Digwa, shouldn’t be allowed to carry a dangerous weapon, lawfully. Infact it’s best I don’t start on that because it utterly infuriates me that women can’t carry pepper spray but we allow Sikh’s to carry a deadly weapon, no questions asked.

There is a reason that Sudan, Afganistan and Syria are not nice places to live - and that reason is the men. Why do we allow them to come here and make our country a not nice place to live?

Who said he was either. Do you know something everyone else doesn't.

He’s on video trying to cut someone’s head off. What sort of idiotic semantic game are you trying to play here?

The suicidal empaths will be along in a minute today any of the following - nothing to see here / accuse posters as racist/ not terror related / trying to police peoples language and feelings in the typical two tier way like they did with Henry Nowac. It’s like bingo this week on here.
I am fed up
I am scared , now and for our shared future
I am angry - for the victim ,for his family and friends , for the witnesses , for my community , my country and for my children.
We didn’t ask for this .

I totally agree with you . I think a lot of us / uk residents do.

Blightfitting · 09/06/2026 20:29

I wouldn't want to live next to any kind of place where bored young men congregate all day. Asylum status has nothing to do with it.

I genuinely don't see what you see. You aren't imagining what you see, but what you are doing is assuming that it represents something much bigger than it does. You take your experience and assume that it represents the country. Facts say otherwise.

I base my opinion not on my own small scale experience but on statistics and facts. What else sensible is there to do?

I work in police custody. Come and work there for a few months/year. It’s been eye opening. You have absolutely no idea. No idea.
