Sad news. He’ll always be the Gold Blend man to me.

upinaballoon · 05/06/2026 22:31

He was very attractive when he was young and in the coffee advert and I think he was more attractive when he was older.
Is it all right if it isn't actually Gold Blend at tomorrow's elevenses, just ordinary Nescafe?
He was wickedly attractive in Vanity Fair.

YouputthetwatinKathleen · 05/06/2026 22:44

Giles singing in Buffy's greatest episode. I wish you could have stayed.

echt · 05/06/2026 23:13

Well, this sad.
I'm much the same age as him and he's the Gold Blend man for me. With top-ups from "Cabin Pressure" and "The Archers".
All the tributes I've read so far universally say what a thoroughly nice man he was, which is quite a thing in the world in which he moved.

FaceIt · 05/06/2026 23:32

What a shame, so such sad news.

Blimey, it was a simple correction of a spelling error, meant to help you, not a character assassination. Are you always so vicious? 😂

Anyway, I was wrong, so you can enjoy that. Phased to mean annoyed/intimidated (however you'd describe it) is now listed as an accepted variant. So, carry on.

I was phased when I saw that spelling, but I'll know not to be in future.

NC’d to say I’m his sister-in-law and I’m reading through your lovely posts. We are all devastated. He was every bit the wonderful person you have all said he was. He and my sister were together for over 40 years and I have never heard anyone say a bad word about him in all that time.

bellylaughter · 06/06/2026 01:15

Very sad. I’ve never heard an Anthony Head story I didn’t like. Fantastic actor and seemingly very good chap.

My condolences for both the loss of your sister and Anthony. This might be such a hard time for you all but I hope this outpouring of love from all of us fans helps even a little. x

Thank you, yes it’s been a terrible few months but it does help to see how much he was loved.

TheMillionthBeautyAddict · 06/06/2026 01:37

My thoughts are with you. I can’t put into words although I never met him how much he meant just through what some people might say is a stupid TV show
I watched Buffy when I was in secondary school and my dad got into it as well. Took my DVD box set off to uni and it saw me through bad break ups. After spinal surgery I rewatched it, stuck in bed. When my horse died and I couldn’t face anything, Buffy was just what I needed. Recently rewatched again after my endometriosis surgery

that stupid TV show is the reason I’ve sat crying tonight over a very good man I’ll never meet

VanquishedColston · 06/06/2026 02:03

Really shocked by this, not very old at all and he looked so well. Very sad, always enjoyed his roles and feel sorry for his daughters.

DuchessedOrleans · 06/06/2026 02:21

Can’t sleep, opened mn and now this sad news. What a loss. Great actor and all round good person.

Clonakilla · 06/06/2026 03:10

My goodness how sad. I didn’t realise his wife had passed so recently either. What a very hard time for his family.

A very talented man.

AnthonyHeadsSisterInLaw · 06/06/2026 03:30

PrincessBeatch · 05/06/2026 20:38

OK. I am proper sad. Gutted, actually.

In a way I hope his daughters read this and see how much loved he was. Those poor girls. I hope someone is looking after them tonight xxx

I’m going to show this to my nieces

I never knew Murray Head was his brother. What did his parents do to produce two talented brothers like that?

His mother was a beautiful, talented actress called Helen Shingler. She was such a lovely woman and lived to be 100.

RedFluffyElephant · 06/06/2026 05:05

Loved him as Uther in Merlin, and Gold Blend advertisements.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 06/06/2026 06:45

Glad he was lovely. He lives in same area as SIL’s parents. RIP.

I’m so sorry for your losses. I hope the outpouring of love for ASH on this thread, and his regular appearances on the “nicest celeb you’ve met” threads are a small condolence to you and your family.

Your sister Sarah sounded like a beautiful soul too, her work in animal welfare was inspiring.

Quaytohappiness · 06/06/2026 07:40

I was just listening to Red Box's Lean on me from the 80s and there in the song notes on Spotify it says that Anthony sang backing vocals on the song. A lovely bit of serendipity this morning.

Sincere condolences @AnthonyHeadsSisterInLaw- it must be so difficult at the moment 💐
