So sad rip

OP posts:
HumphreyCobblers · Today 20:34

I am so sad about this. So is Dd. Watching Buffy together when she turned twelve and I was the same age as Giles gave me a whole new appreciation of his character.

PrincessBeatch · Today 20:38

OK. I am proper sad. Gutted, actually.

In a way I hope his daughters read this and see how much loved he was. Those poor girls. I hope someone is looking after them tonight xxx

I saw him in Rocky Horror many years ago. It was at the same time that he was in those Gold Blend coffee adverts. Someone from the audience shouted 'I thought you were in New York!'

😆😆😆

I was front row saw his balls in the basque he was dancing in, huge loss he was awesome

I was only just watching the Jonathan Creek pilot the other day where he played Adam Klaus. I’ve not seen much of his work other than that and Little Britain, but he came across as an incredibly likeable and charismatic person (and very handsome).

WearyAuldWumman · Today 20:51

Very sad. No age at all, these days. I've just read that his wife passed away at 61 last year.

The first year of being a widow or widower is quite debilitating. I'm so sorry.

AndAllOurYesterdays · Today 20:57

I don't normally get upset at celebrity deaths, but this one has really got to me. I grew up with Buffy, and have listened again and again to Cabin Pressure, and have recently discovered Ted Lasso. He was such a talented actor and always came across as such a lovely person

CaveMum · Today 21:02

So sad. Buffy was a huge part of my teen years and Giles was just perfect.

RIP Ripper.

analoguedreams · Today 21:13

I don’t usually get to too phased about celebrities passing but this has caught me out. Lots of us grew up secretly thinking Giles was the catch not Angel. He was also utterly amazing as Frank N Furter in his stint in Rocky Horror.

NOOOOO! Have had a crush on him for a long, long time.

Me too. I loved him in the coffee advert that turned into a mini soap.

It's fazed, not phased. Old product lines are phased out, but you might get fazed by heights.

I recall getting home one night and Mum telling me: "Your Uncle Charlie says that the kiss is going to be shown during Coronation Street tonight!"

Yes, we tuned in for the advert.

🤣🤣🤣 When the national grid does not experience the expected surge with everyone putting the kettle on during the ads, you know you've created a successful ad campaign!

The way you said that, it sounded like they're children! I assumed they were aged around 8-13! Looked up his Wiki and was relieved to see that they're 35 and 38. Still awful, I know, but relieved that two children have not been left parentless!

I was much, much younger than that when my mum first got cancer, and around their age when she died and when my dad got terminal cancer, and no one called me a poor girl or looked after me, I can tell you that! Most people leave you to your own devices if you're bereaved as an adult. I'm glad that at least they will have each other.

Uricon2 · Today 21:33

Having the most awful day with big stuff going on (DH very ill) and knowing we've lost ASH (he will always be Anthony Stewart Head to a certain generation) really has undone me more than anyone since Bowie.

Yeah we don't know them (I know people who met him and said he was lovely) but you watch enough Buffy...

They lost both parents within months of each other, have a little empathy. That’s horrendous no matter how old

HidingintheClothesPile · Today 21:37

Bereft at this news. Buffy shaped me as a teenager and it’s still my go to comfort show.

shhblackbag · Today 21:38

He was such a lovely man, kind and talented. It's so sad.

YummyCookie · Today 21:39

So sad. Giles truly was a legend. I remember queuing up to meet him in 2002. Such a nice guy.

ForWiseRoseCat · Today 21:51

This is one of those that is truly sad. Buffy was late teenage years guilty watch. Merlin was my adult guilty watch.

I've been rewatching Merlin only recently.

Giles and Uther will forever be two of my favourite characters.

Nope. Made me bloody annoyed that British education is so bad.

Yes, I said it's still awful and that I'm glad they have each other. Do fix your selective reading.
