A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I managed to watch until the 'Labour Party' plant in the audience made the stupid comments about Farage and Reform which potentially libellous and irrelevant in a show about Makerfield ! The Labour Party are desperate and this gets more evident every day .

How are people so stupid to give Andy Con Man Burnham up-to 49% of the vote in a new poll.. What are people expecting from him, first as a MP than as a PM who will be caught in the 'headlights' .

EasternStandard · 05/06/2026 10:51

I’m not sure BBC QT is that relevant to many, it is too skewed.

I’m not sure if AB will win but I’d love to see bollard go so I’m ok if he does for this one.

Things they are a changing in the NHS.

We'll be able to see our GP privately.
There'll be means testing.
Moving more towards the dentistry model.

Some of my GPs work two days a week so there's room if they wish to do more. They'll be able to hire more young GPs with funds coming in.

I remember back in the 70s the senior doctor did have private patients where I went. My friends mum had private patients.

Be interesting to see how it all pans out.

@strawberrybubblegum that is an excellent post and thank you for the links

I hadn't realised that criticism of Palantir was rooted in politics. I didn't realise the debate had moved on from data privacy and stuff. I suppose the reality is now they have accepted that data will have to be shared, they need to find another criticism? And that's mad.

It's very sad that there are no British tech companies who can supply a decent data platform that can make the NHS more efficient

or is the NHS just too big to be made efficient?

You are right Rob Keynon is not the greatest nor most articulate man. However, what he is though is he is like the people he is representing . Just because someone is not the most articulate or polished in communication skills does not mean they cannot be a good or representative MP for a community. Andy Burnham is just the biggest 'Con-Man' who as ever existed, a man highly suited to Politics/ Public because if he had entered the private commercial world he would have been found out very quickly what a Bull-Shitter he is.

That's the point I was making, albeit badly. Rob Kenyon is doing his best, but in life (and especially politics) communication is key. There will be voters currently sitting on the fence, and judging by some of the questions posed it seems Kenyon was set up to fail (IMO, of course).

The likes of Farage and Burnham know exactly how to play to the room - and that's why I think AB will win Makerfield.

Has anyone else seen this deeply troubling set of statements from the National Association of Muslim Police?

https://x.com/fharris2011/status/2062800225362755822

They actually seem to be defending Hamas?

I hadn't seen that, it looks like the editorial style of the Spectator, is that the source?

It's so inflammatory and politically dangerous. How on earth has this all been allowed to happen. This is our police force, not a bloody activist body.

Sorry yes, it is indeed The Spectator.

I keep waiting to hear that Palantir is suing. None of what I am reading is within the scope of the PCR2015 or PA2023. I think they have grounds to sue, the money for lawyers and a goid chance of winning.

Khan is grandstanding and overreaching.

Thanks for the write up. Really useful.

You’re likely right, unless enough don’t bother watching and QT is naturally more left / Labour for viewers.

I don’t have a TV licence and so don’t watch the BBC. It really needs defunding /the brand is completely damaged by years of leftiness.

Middlerage · 05/06/2026 15:20

Nc’d. ed balls is certain Keir is a goner whether AB wins or not…I hope so.

Parsley4321 · 05/06/2026 18:10

AB sounds bloody much worse than bollard surely he’s a professional northerner and complete left wing twat ?

justasking111 · 05/06/2026 19:42

They're rearranging chairs on the Titanic. It'll take more than one man to undo this mess of a government.

I think so too. If AB wins, he will replace Starmer.
If AB loses, Starmer will be held responsible as it proves that Labour can't even win a safe seat with AB as candidate.
Bollard is stuffed either way.

Hoping to catch up with Ed and George tomorrow while I'm cleaning. I haven't listening to it for a few weeks.

Burnham interview in the Telegraph, basically saying he'll look to reverse some of Reeves's brutal tax raids. (He clearly thinks most of the voters came up the Clyde in a banana boat.🙄)

Ooh the gloves are off then 😁

Love how he says he'll fund it by taxing tech giants. Good luck with that 😂

Not content with dumbing-down education, Phillipson has also decreed school dinners will be healthier; amongst all her other travesties banning traditional rib-sticking puddings.

Speaking as someone who's never been able to resist a good hot pudding, I would be incandescent at her dictatorial interference. Like other food, it's all about portion size.

Bring back jam roly-poly and sponge and custard

The Government is revamping school dinner menus to make them more nutritious, but should children really be denied their beloved puddings?

Has she nothing better to do?
No doubt she'll ban packed lunches too when all the kids switch over because they don't fancy a chickpea wrap.
I hope BP doesn't run to be leader. 😬

Well, she ran for deputy leader didn't make it. Hopefully, she won't try again, but you never know. Unless something cataclysmic happens, it looks like we're stuck for the next three years with the motley crew that is Labour.

I don't believe a change of leader will make much difference, if any. They'll just muddle on seeing themselves as modern Robin Hoods robbing the rich to give to the poor (except that was a myth).

Tax the tech giants - may as well put that one to bed. See where we are in a couple of years.

Same, same. I'm struggling to care which muppet they put in No.10. Its like Trigger's broom.

That is so horribly accurate. This country is rapidly becoming a dystopian nightmare.
