A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Al Carns has resigned.

Upstartled · Yesterday 20:22

Wonder if he was pushed after his interview with Cathy Newman?

boys3 · Yesterday 20:26

He might, he has been loyal to Starmer, prepared to follow the party line to his own detriment ( pocket money) and he's ambitious enough to fall upwards without any regard for his capability.

Spot on analysis.

Scraping the barrel but Rayner probably preferable to Darren Jones.

Crikey! I also suspect he was pushed after his Cathy Newman interview.

Osborne otoh is of the firm view that the spending crisis is so bad that whoever comes in is inheriting hell and can’t commit much more on defence…

They can with eds billions wasted on a project that isn't even proven. Carbon capture every one says it's a bad idea.

Interesting suggestion here that Healey could be re-appointed within weeks if Burnham takes over. Healey has definitely won the day today.

This could kill off an already wounded Starmer

John Healey quitting has pulled the rug from under a PM battling for his political life

Well, no chaos in this stable government, eh? 🙄

Honestly, it’s an absolute parody of a government. I can only think that the left of the Labour party, which traditionally has its power base among the membership but few senior figures in the party, has pissed the intelligent moderates off so much that they’ve just given up.

It looks increasingly like the end of the Labour movement altogether. Welfare spending and special interest pleading has now alienated all the sensible people in Labour. They’ll start walking away soon enough. Perhaps we’ll see a resurgent Liberal party that goes back to its liberal economic and centrist social policy roots.

You've scraped the barrel, gone through it and are scraping the ground below it with her! 🤣

Is there any political mechanism to get someone like ed out ?
It's insane that he wont move on his budget and get the dod have been asked to cut and make savings and any more money has to come from schools and hospotals.

Yes, and its unproven.
The £22bn spend on carbon capture was announced within about 3 weeks of Reeves announcing that she had found a £22bn black hole too.

Believe me, hard as it might be to believe, Jones is even worse.

Middlerage · Yesterday 20:34

Al Carns gone - ‘we are failing those who serve in the military’. Good for him. Yes, we are.

I wonder if anybody still thinks that Starmer should stay for stability?! 🤣

Well, they could fire him but they are too weak even if the will was there.
