A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@justasking111 I thought you meant Paris in general

Confused

@EasternStandard yeah I'm totally fucked off. And I haven't been finished being fucked off about Henry Nowak. I know all this rage can't be good for me, but I can't help it.

And then I got home and found out about the stabbing in the school in Manchester.

@LupaMoonhowl this is why I don't look at the MSM. They don't tell me anything I actually need to know.

SpaceRaccoon · 09/06/2026 22:59

I honestly don't know what it'll take for some people to wake up - their own family member attacked?

SapphireCasino · 09/06/2026 23:44

@SpaceRaccoon honestly at that point some people will still just say that it's one bad apple

It doesn't help that people don't realise how extensive this problem is though.

So many of these types on the boards at the moment

Beginning to think that they are government bots. It's quite frightening to think there's really this number of people I think this way about what's happening.

Albertroad · 10/06/2026 06:54

As expected it kicked off last night in Belfast. Its wrong..but people are angry and what is the Government...what is Starmer doing ffs? No doubt swift "justice" will be delivered. And then a similar scene will play out again, somewhere else. Seems to be playing on a loop right now.

Telegraph ; Rachel reeves to pay the visa for skilled foreign workers in UK /in the midst of an employment crisis

I'm not sure they'll be able to arrest anyone. They seem to have been really careful about any recordings, and hiding their faces.
And apparently the police just hid or something?
It's awful, and I'm very sorry for any innocent people affected, but was also inevitable.

Just read that too. You couldn't make it up could you! Feels like a wind up.
Also floated are tax rises to pay for the black hole in defence spending.

Tinderbox Britain: In quick succession the names of Henry Nowak (RIP) and Stephen Ogilvie have become synonymous with violent riots centred around illegal immigration which have the potential to escalate on a scale not seen before.

What happened in Belfast last night was pure thuggery; I'm not convinced "ordinary" people were involved, but for how long will they be able to contain their frustration and anger that their concerns about the continued stream of undocumented migrants availing themselves of taxpayer largesse?

More importantly, does anyone have confidence in the current Government's ability to restore order?

Starmer's just been quoted as saying the riots in Belfast were "shocking and completely unacceptable". Predictable platitudes from a lame duck without a clue.

He just rotates through a Rolodex of empty words and picks a couple.

The actual crime is a little different in tone as he’s ok with that really.

It's really heavy going. I'm hoping that I'm just a bit low mood because it feels like these last few weeks have unmasked the growing contempt and mistrust between the government and its institutions and huge swathes of people it is meant to serve.

Cool and strong heads are required to listen and extend room to hope that things can be better but we have autonomic, 'computer says no', whatthreewords Labour and a PM who can't even galvanise his own party, let alone a country.

Yes, you're right, and you sum up my mood also.
We've had the Nottingham inquiry, Henry Nowak, and now Belfast. All bad enough on their own, put in short sequence its too much.
Kemi has been really good imo, but she isn't the PM. There is a massive void where he should be.

Middlerage · 10/06/2026 12:02

Yes Kemi conveys that she gets how it makes people feel. Thugs are going to be thugs but why is that getting all the oxygen?

Yes I agree, thats all we get from the left because they won't address the actual issue.

Excellent PMQs for Kemi.
Again, Starmer looked pathetic. He was mis-pronouncing his words and Labour MPs very quiet. They look thoroughly fed up with him.

Starmer would not rule out more tax rises, or cutting NHS spending to fund defence. He also failed to deny that the DIP will amount to £13bn, which is less than half of the requested £28bn. I don't know how he can show his face at the Nato summit. He's utterly pointless.

I bet. It’s over for him. Pointless.

Upstartled · 10/06/2026 13:29

It'll be exclusively higher taxes. He's too weak to cut the welfare bill and we are becoming an increasingly risky prospect for the bond market.

Welfare spending is £18 billion more this year than last, ffs.

Nuthatch26 · 10/06/2026 13:42

Hannah Spencer made a shitty remark about filth sitting behind her (Reform). Even Labour MPs didn't cheer that one. Do they think this behaviour helps their cause?

Probably. What's the point anyway, when Bollard is about to be turfed out? Burnham might decide that he doesn't want to do any of it.

I was reading something last week but can't link as I can't remember where I read it. Someone close to Burnham's campaign has said off the record that they think they can fiddle the fiscal rules to allow more borrowing. Something about state funded house building.

30 July another probable date for the diary.

Greater Manchester Mayoral by-election if Burnham does get elected in Makerfield.

Nothing like a summer election 🤔

🙄 So this defence plan, expected last autumn, and 9 months late will be ripped up and Burnham thinks he as a loophole through...state funded house building? Wtf...are the military to wait until houses are built by the state and then sold before they can defend the country 🤣🤣🤣

Maybe we'll all get a hurley stick and asked to make the best of it in the meantime?

It’s just performative. Thinks it makes her look big and clever.
