What is your go to from the chippy? We are having one for dinner tonight and I fancy just chips with curry sauce to dip, usually I get a single black pudding with lots of salt on it and a chip butty with salt, vinegar and broon sauce.

What do you like?

Small Cod and chips x 1 . Mushy peas X1 , buttered bread roll x 2 and curry saucex 1. 2 gherkins and 1 giant pickled onion.

Me and DH have this between us.

Sausage in batter, small chips and - if they have it - fresh battered cockles. Salt and vinegar over everything.

Chips peas and gravy! Proper northern. If they do a battered sausage I may partake in that too!

DinoLil · 31/05/2026 18:02

Small chips, saveloy, curry sauce, battered mushrooms and onion rings!

LadyLooo · 31/05/2026 18:04

Saveloy and chips (but only if the saveloys are crispy).

Or Large cod and chips that I share with DH as for some reason, the portions are big enough to feed the whole street and they don't sell small or medium.

I also love their BBQ quarter pounders.

ChickenStuffing · 31/05/2026 18:06

Pie (steak and kidney only), chips, peas and gravy. To be eaten with white buttered bread at home. 😋

murasaki · 31/05/2026 18:06

Small chips between us, they are not small, always more salt and vinegar than they start with.

Small cod for me, battered sausage for him.

Two mushy peas, I do not share, one curry sauce.

PickAChew · 31/05/2026 18:07

Fish and chips, only gluten free 😋

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 31/05/2026 18:08

Haddock, chips, mushy peas, with ketchup, salt and vinegar.

Fgfgfg · 31/05/2026 18:11

Half and half with curry sauce and mushy peas.

Half boiled rice/half chips

BashfulClam · 31/05/2026 18:12

Fish supper with 2 pickled inions and tons of salt and vinegar. If it’s a Monday I don’t get fish (my Gran and Mum always said never get fish on a Monday as it’s not fresh, boats don’t go out on a Sunday) so probably a sausage supper.

Sounds delicious 😋. My chippy doesn't do the gherkins unfortunately but I always have a jar of them in the house...love a giant pickle 😋

Scampi and cheesy chips (usually a large between DH and I, to risk sounding terrible MN, but they are HUGE portions!)

TheNavyFatball · 31/05/2026 18:21

Very few fish and chip shops have daily fish deliveries, mostly it’s a couple of times a week. Unless it’s someone like Rick stein. Your average chippy there is no difference buying on a Monday v a Friday as you don’t know when the delivery was.

CombatBarbie · 31/05/2026 18:22

Ill lower the tone and say deep fried pizza with salt, vinegar and chippy brown sauce! Or battered haggis n chips. Used to love white pudding supper but not many do it now.

Buscobel · 31/05/2026 18:22

Small fish each and one portion of chips between us. Mind you, the last time we had fish and chips from the chippy was before Covid.

Battered cockles? What is that? I have heard of pickled ones...but battered? I wouldn't like them i dont think.
