A friend rang me yesterday sitting in her lovely garden with the birdies singing, under an umbrella with a cold glass of rosé....she was very happy with the warm long evening, However she booked a sauna for today - not so happy about that now ! 🤭 Here in the tropics it's hovering around 28c which is par for the course. The breeze arrives like clockwork at 4 pm. I was in London last July during that heatwave and found it very difficult to cope with. It's not a city designed for heat, obviously !

When I saw all the emojis in the title, I knew the OP would be you @mumofoneAloneandwell ! I'm currently waiting for it to cool down so I can take my little daschund for a walk. I'm dreading tomorrow as it's set to be even hotter here x

Youre the third person to say that to me 😄😄😄

Where are you? 33 in London tomorrow!

Its good that you're waiting for the weather to cool down before you walk ddog - not everyone is doing that 😬

We’ve not walked our dog for 2 days. She’s just been spatchcocked on the coldest tiles she can find. She’s not interested in going anywhere.

I've been getting mine out very early then I'm lucky enough to have a tiny park directly across the road from me so can easily pop across for a quick pee visit.
So far he is coping, although Def doing more flops onto the cool tiles then usual!

Really not looking forward to working mon and Tues nights (in an old hospital with no AC) but I'm trying to look at the half full glass....I figured I probably wouldn't be able to sleep anyways, at least this way I'll be getting paid to stay awake!😂

JenniferBooth · 24/05/2026 23:41

All the tops i washed today are scrunched up in a carrier bag so they stay wet
Needs must

NoisyMonster678 · 25/05/2026 00:18

I spray myself with tap water from a cheap spray bottle - it is better for cooling down than a fan.

Try it!
It works!

JustJoinedRightNow · 25/05/2026 01:06

OP I'm Australian living in Sydney - try to find some cooling mats. They sell them here for pets, but we get them and put them in our beds to lay our feet on (like putting a hot water bottle in bed when you're cold). They're a life changer!
Sorry you're suffering in the heat. Please think of me in December, January and February when we get days over 40. It's awful.

I’ve stayed indoors pretty much all of today, just been from the house to the car and then car to a shop and also out to quickly water the garden and from so little exposure I’ve had my annual heatwave sun allergy rash come up on my arms so I’m itching like crazy. It always happens when the sun is really strong, and I do use sun screen.

You sound like me! I have done the same. DH & DS waited until the sun had gone down before going out on their bikes. No worries with having to apply sun cream then. I stay inside all day which is a shame really when they say finally the good weather is here but when it's this hot, it's unbearable!

SkyLark79 · 25/05/2026 06:53

3 showers yesterday, totally knackered. Can’t sleep and then I have to set my alarm for an ungodly hour to walk my poor Labrador or he’s a nightmare. Normally in the the holidays we love going out for coffee and a long leisurely dog walk - can’t do that. We live miles from the beach and no way am I going to spend bank holiday Monday battling through crowds to get to a mega busy lido/anywhere with water. So I’ll just sit in front of a fan (that blows hot air) and eat ice lollies. Living the dream 🤣

Squirrelsnut · 25/05/2026 07:00

I grit my teeth and put on a cotton sundress that I've wrung out in cold water. Also regularly wet my hair with cold water and leave it dripping.

Not stylish but pulls so much of the internal heat out of me that I can get comfortable.

Fraughtmum · 25/05/2026 07:24

Just got back from early 6 mile walk. Showered and having cuppa. All I'm doing today is reading. Been.invited to drinks in a pub this afternoon...no thanks.

JumpingPumpkin · 25/05/2026 07:45

I'm camping at a dance festival. Tent is already unbearably hot, Berghaus Air 4, dark blue, perfect in wet/cold weather, not in a heatwave. Exhausting not having anywhere cool to relax after dancing in the day. At least it's cool overnight.

railcardfan · 25/05/2026 08:48

Woke up at 4:30am. Opened all the windows to let as much cool air as possible into the house. Sat in the garden with a magazine and a cuppa, listening to the birds. The heat is building up now so I'm back inside, having closed all the windows and drawn the curtains. I'm no good to anyone once the temperature goes above about 25 degrees, so that's me done for the day! (Predicted to be 31 degrees here.)

Seagroves · 25/05/2026 08:54

Morning all, got up especially early to get to Tesco for 8am. It felt quite pleasant then
It’s set to get to 34 today and 35 tomorrow. My brain can’t comprehend those temperatures, it’s all too much!

NelferchyLlyn · 25/05/2026 09:14

Im loving the weather tbh, however my husband and 4 teenage children are all fair with red hair. The amount of factor 50 they are going though is quite alarming.

I am delighting in having my vitamin D topped up, living outside and getting all the clothes washing done. They are all too hot and arent happy!

henlake7 · 25/05/2026 09:48

Managed to get the dog out for a walk and do my weight training and cardio early this morning, work tonight.
The plan for the middle of the day is to plonk myself somewhere as cool as possible with a book and not move until I have to!

dryingfashionitems · 25/05/2026 10:40

I hate any extreme weather.

MyTrivia · 25/05/2026 10:50

I guess I’m just glad the kids are not at school this week.

I put my tops scrunched up in a clean carrier bag after taking them straight out of the washing machine. They stay wet and cold. Im wearing one now.

Got to get dd out today - wish me luck

Car has no ac!!

I've got it cracked. Curtains closed. Fan on. Dog collapsed in a heap at my feet and no need to go anywhere. Outdoor thermometer reading 33.9, but it's in the sun. I'm sorry if you have to go out but it will be done by Wednesday.

MidnightMeltdown · 25/05/2026 13:54

30 degrees here at. For me, anything between 25-30 is perfect summer weather!

When we had 40 degrees a couple of years ago, THAT was too hot. I remember that it was hot at night too, so you couldn’t cool the house down by opening the windows.

cheezncrackers · 25/05/2026 14:04

33 degrees here (just outside London). I love spring and summer weather, love sun and blue skies, but my happy temperature is about 25 degrees. This is too hot. My house is not too bad atm, but I know that between about 4-7pm it will be like a sauna.
