I’m on the Devon coast and it’s been 28/30c maximum!
definitely not hot enough for me!
I love the heat, hotter the better for me, which is why I go abroad 4/5 times a year as the weather in the UK is absolutely shite!

ScaredButUnavoidable · 29/05/2026 10:10

A lovely cloudy 19c here near the Midlands and we’ve even had some light rain this morning.

Much better!

But the heat here is different to actual hot countries, so it's harder to cope with. Humidity matters!

'I love the heat, hotter the better for me'

Honest question - do you not sweat much? I love sunshine and warmth but I find the heat so stressful. I feel like I sweat about a pint every day into my underwear when it's over 30 degrees. I feel sticky and horrible and barely want to move. I don't get what's enjoyable about it at all. Totally different if I'm in an air con building but I rarely am

Still too warm and massively humid today as well. I hate being sweaty....
My biggest peeve though is that the heat makes me feel permanently tired. I just feel wiped out after doing sod all!
Really need a nice thunderstorm to break the heat.

Boiling in Cheshire too. Just mowed the lawn thinking it would be manageable and I ended up a sweaty mess. Jumped in a cold shower before I blew a gasket! I have a sense of humour failure when I'm hot and sweaty.

Youre a stronger woman than me, i have to tell you - I bet youre glad its all done now though!

When I used to live in a house, mowing the lawn was by far the toughest job 😔

I’ve been out digging my garden again today - I started on Saturday and have now dug over all the flower beds and planted about 300 annuals. I’ve been really busy with work recently so it’s been lovely to have had the time to make the best of the weather over the last week, and it’s all tidy and pretty for the summer now 😆.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/05/2026 19:58

I've been in the garden today too. No real digging though. I completed the last part of the timber edging and added a few more bags of stones to complete the border I've been slowly creating for a while. I then strimmed the lawn so it's nice and neat.

It's not been really hot today, especially as there's been a breeze. It's been quite pleasant.

'So after lots of reading and experimenting I personally found that shutting all windows and blinds/curtains during the day and then opening them wide at night when the air cooled really helped'

I get the logic of this but it sounds so miserable and gloomy! Does it not feel like you're living in a cave?

It is miserable and gloomy and when you haven’t been able to get the temperature down as much as you’d like before sealing yourself up again, it feels both counterintuitive and so depressing.

Such are the hot summer days chez moi, though. It’s all that works.

Because 30c in the UK, isn’t hot for me 🤣
it’s definitely not hard to cope with, I’ve upped my exercise now to every day as it’s nice to be out in the fresh air

No, don’t sweat much, lol as it’s been dry I’m out exercising every night now on my bicycle, I enjoy being outside in the better weather

Heatwaves aren't subjective, based on the heat you like. This is a heatwave for the UK, whether you're still perfectly happy or not! 🙄

And you totally missed my point earlier (maybe the sun got to your head), in that there are people who detest 28°+ degrees in the UK who are fine with it elsewhere, as the heat is different (with reference to your awful carbon footprint multiple foreign holidays a year).

Crunchymum · 30/05/2026 07:55

We missed the worst of it as we went away last Saturday to the coast. Hottest we had was 26c and even by the sea that felt quite unbearable at points. We did also have a glorious 18c / windy / jumpers needed day as well.

Got home to London yesterday and felt sick within the hour of being home. The heat felt like it was coming from within my body!! I realise yesterday was "cooler" in London than the temperatures earlier in the week.

After today it seems to be dropping to a more bearable level. Albeit it with bloody rain.... in June!!

I think you’ve wandered onto the wrong thread….

I’m sure there are lots of threads where people are loving the sunshine so perhaps you’re best suited to one of those rather than coming here and laughing at those of us who are genuinely struggling.
