Close to the Midlands here and it’s a much more pleasant 20 degrees at the moment. The highest it’s due to reach is 23-24 degrees but that’s not until 3-4pm so things should be much more manageable today. There’s also a lovely breeze at the moment too.

It’s back to being in the 30’s again tomorrow though so I’ll try and be thankful for this small respite.

It just wont fucking go away, I thought tomorrow was supposed to be cooler. It maybe is by about 1 or 2 degrees 🙄

We are in the south east

The house refuses to cool down because the horrible hellish heat wont fuck OFF

Dread to think whats coming in july/August 😫

The UK just isn't designed for it, its so oppressive

Pretty much how I feel- July for me is like most people’s January- seems the longest month ever, mainly due to the heat and the long days. I start relaxing slightly near the end of August.

Hang in there ladies, Sunday will be the breakthrough with temps down to 21c.

I reckon (and hope) this early heatwave means we won't have a hot summer. But who knows! In 3 months time it will be the back end of heat and heading into blissful Autumn 🍂

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 27/05/2026 12:39

26 degrees today SE London and slight breeze. Slept better last night

JenniferBooth · 27/05/2026 12:45

Still too hot in the Sanctuary sweatbucket. This shithole takes about three days to cool down.

ScaredButUnavoidable · 27/05/2026 12:49

Only 21c here with a cool, strong breeze. I sat out in it for about 45 minutes at 10.30am but that was enough for me.

It’s staying at 21-22c throughout the afternoon, peaking at 24c at 6pm before cooling back down to 18c overnight.

This I can cope with as long as the breeze remains too 🤞

mumofoneAloneandwell · 27/05/2026 12:50

Its a bit cooler here now - window open, fan having a break

Got no energy though at all - dd has found the ketchup bottle and got ketchup all over the kitchen so that'll be fun

Just MEH

Just been honking it down in Cambridgeshire, lots of thunder and lightning.

Taytocrisps · 27/05/2026 13:02

Just popped down to the bottle bank (found some lovely beer bottles with bits of mouldy fruit in the bottom of them - thanks DD/DD's boyfriend). Happy to report that, while the sun is quite hot, there's a cool breeze.

Squirrelsnut · 27/05/2026 13:48

It's sooo much nicer here today. (Oxfordshire). Still a bit too hot for me, but liveable with. I've washed all our bedding because what's nicer than outdoor-dried bedding? Going to a lovely pub garden later. The cat is actually moving around and looking alert, which is a relief.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/05/2026 14:29

I'm on a sun lounger in the garden and it's very pleasant indeed. The breeze means it's not oppressive.

Having said that, my walk back from the shops earlier was toasty. I decided to swerve Dobbies, as it was a step too far. I'll go in the morning instead.

PeonyBulb · 27/05/2026 15:14

28 degrees here it’s scorchio in the SE. Not sure whether to keep the back doors and windows open that are in the shade today or not. I did yesterday. Pedestal fan on and wearing neck fan. Managed however to sleep ok ish last night. It’s just getting hotter and hotter throughout the day. I’m misting a lot with my mini Mario Badescu sprays but that only lasts a few seconds.

i was speculating as to whether I might have sweated off a few pounds over the past couple of days. Then I remembered that I've been mainlining fake Magnums.

We had a bit of rain earlier which helped. 😊

Same here.

I have epilepsy and heat is a major trigger of my seizures. Im a nervous wreck. Im sat in front of three fans, trying to stay as hydrated as possible but I’m so anxious.

I haven’t been abroad for 7 years for this reason.

I wish I could enjoy the sun but sadly not.
I’m just waiting for it to pass and hoping I stay seizure free in the meantime.

I get all the ignorant comments of how I should make the most of it, how “it’s not that hot”, “just sit in the shade” and all the other crap that makes absolutely no difference to my epilepsy; and it drives me mad.

A lot of people don’t actually realise that for some the heat is a major problem and prefer to just cast judgements without knowing the full picture.

ScaredButUnavoidable just read your post. DS has had a seizure which we think was triggered by the heat yesterday. It was 30.5 in his bedroom ffs! The house is a new build and retains the heat in the bedrooms really badly. He has epilepsy too and they are trying to get his meds sorted. We're in hospital now waiting to see if we can go home. It's been a hell of a day.
Hope you are ok and didn't have a seizure.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 27/05/2026 19:16

@ScaredButUnavoidable sorry, I missed your post

Wishing you the best, a some bloody cool air! 💐❤️

And to you @BooseysMom - how difficult

Would either of you be eligible for a grant towards the cost of ac installation?

I’ve just opened the front living room window now it’s cooler and the hot air seems to have been sucked out so that’s great instantly cooler it’s 24 outside. Back door and fan are on so helped with the whoosh

I’m ok thank you. I have rescue drugs that I keep at home that I’m supposed to take when I have cluster seizures, but I’m also allowed to take one during vulnerable times (times of stress, illness, heat, lack of sleep as some examples) so I have occasionally been taking a tablet over the last few days just to try and prevent things from starting up.

I hope your son is ok and you have been able to get home.

Thank you to everyone else for your kind wishes too x
