Sunny but nice and cool in Scotland.

Favouritefruits · 23/05/2026 10:20

Come to the north west of the UK, it’s cloudy looks like it could rain any minute and is only 15 degrees! I want sunshine, I’ll happily swap!

LizardyGuts · 23/05/2026 10:22

Pishing rain here. I would love some sun!

the80sweregreat · 23/05/2026 10:25

I’m in a hot part of the UK and I also hate it op. I know people roll their eyes at me and like being outside , but this is very unusual weather for May. I prefer rain and cooler weather, but unfortunately I can’t move to Scotland or anywhere that’s not as hot , so have to just try and find ways of staying cool.

youalright · 23/05/2026 10:25

Yeah its clouded over a bit now and im already regretting what I said 🙈🤣🤣

I think the biggest problem is where not use to it and our houses aren't built for it so there is no escape

We've got big grey clouds ... much more bearable than yesterday.

shellyleppard · 23/05/2026 10:28

Very warm but clouding over here in the east midlands. Been awake since 4.30 am.... second lot of washing in though Lol

the80sweregreat · 23/05/2026 10:30

We did look into an air con unit , but it was a lot of money and where to put one , down stairs or upstairs and the cost of running it put us off.
I’d love to have it in each room , but I know that isn’t an option unless I win the lottery. Fans work ok for now.

Nightlifes · 23/05/2026 10:34

I hate it I love all the weather MN hates.
Storms fog frost cold bitter days dark days etc.

Can't wait for autumn and winter, so i can have some relief.

My allergies are at peak my migraines are worse.
I relly cant cope in it.
There no air to breathe.

This is me too! I’m the Summer Grinch. Living with relentless heat makes me depressed (in east).

I’ve got a unit in my sitting room and another in my bedroom - worth every penny as it’s a game changer

People who like hot weather make the point that I have ( in the past ) gone on holiday to a hot place , but those places had air con and pools and shade and so on, it was only for a week and you can cool
down a lot faster. When I was younger I could tolerate it a lot more as well, being older and fatter doesn’t help. This seems an unnatural heat too especially for May.

the80sweregreat · 23/05/2026 10:40

I wish we had explored the air con route a bit more.
I bet those people are doing a roaring trade.

SliceofTosst · 23/05/2026 10:41

25° and clear sky here in London. Am not looking forward to later when my west facing flat gets the the full force!

At least I can get multipe washing loads out and dried though.

I got an email from British gas that they are doing air-conditioning now but when i looked into it, it was really expensive. I just don't know if its worth it for how much it would actually be used

Did you realise it heats as well as cooling? I use mine to boost the temperature in the sitting room a bit instead of turning the central heating on so effectively turning it on a month later and off a month earlier. It doesn’t heat the whole house but it’s fine for those two months and a lot cheaper than having the central heating on.

IHateEmptyPockets · 23/05/2026 10:51

I’ll join you - I was so looking forward to gardening this weekend but it’s around 25 degrees already, we’ve got a south facing garden and it’s only getting hotter. I’ve done some half hearted weeding and tons of washing to hang out Grin

Imthefunfriend · 23/05/2026 10:51

Sorry OP but I just love it. Not being wrapped up in layers, not having to grab a coat, not having my body aching. I am older but not fatter, not sure if that is the difference!

ShowOfHands · 23/05/2026 10:54

It's currently 25 degrees where I am (on holiday in West Sussex) but due to get up to 31 in East Anglia where I live.

The children are loving it and in the pool. I'm under an umbrella with my book, cursing.

Haha was about to say.. what is this sun people are talking about 🧐

Strandas · 23/05/2026 10:56

I absolutely love it. We have a sheltered south facing garden and I’m going to sit in the paddling pool with an ice cream and a cocktail!

faial · 23/05/2026 10:59

Insulation is your friend (if you're not in rented). It's 25c outside and 18 in my house. Even when it gets to 30 outside for several days the house doesn't usually go above 23.

I do like the warm weather though and shall be outdoors for most of this weekend.
