But my god its hot today. I know i shouldn't moan but holy crap and its only 10.15. I was so looking forward to enjoying a day in the sun but I don't know if i can hack it

You just work around it like people do in hot countries.
Wake up bit earlier dowhat you needs, lunch, midday nap, late afternoon you can get out in sun again.
I have south facing garden so all gardening is happening either early morning, or late afternoon. When out I just plan to be in shady part through midday.
The issue isn't even the heat. It's the annoying himidity and air pressure going up.

Edit to add, I have to do this every time it's high uv because I burn easy

FeelingALittleWoozyHere · 23/05/2026 12:01

I'm at the gym and the air con is fighting for its life 🥵

This is me too! I’m the Summer Grinch. Living with relentless heat makes me depressed (in east).

Its just awful.

BloodandGlitter · 23/05/2026 12:01

I feel you OP! I'm on meds that make it difficult to regulate my temp so I have very little chance of enjoying the heat.

DemonsandMosquitoes · 23/05/2026 12:02

Grey clouds and my cardigan on in Lancashire

Bryonyberries · 23/05/2026 12:04

Hot here today. I opened the windows early so house is cool at the moment but it is hot outside.

StephensLass1977 · 23/05/2026 12:09

Come to the north east. We haven't got the heatwave. It's currently cloudy.

the80sweregreat · 23/05/2026 12:09

I went into a big supermarket yesterday morning and it was artic in there, the staff had fleeces on around the freezer aisles. Air con working too well

CeeJay81 · 23/05/2026 12:14

Yep. Today Me and DD are going on a city break(meeting up with family) for 3 nights. Monday is saying 29 degrees! Just hope the air-conditioning is efficient at the hotel.

Turnitoffnonagain · 23/05/2026 12:14

The best money we have spent in recent years is cartridge blinds for our south facing bedroom. Bought really to block out all the light and they do that brilliantly, but also in the hot weather they keep the room cool. Makes summer more bearable. 🥵

I got an email from British gas that they are doing air-conditioning now but when i looked into it, it was really expensive. I just don't know if its worth it for how much it would actually be used

you can purchase stand alone units that do work well - but they are a bit like the old tumble dries - you have to put the tube out the window. https://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/sf8000e/electriq-slimline-7000-btu-portable-air-conditioner

I hate it I love all the weather MN hates.
Storms fog frost cold bitter days dark days etc.

Can't wait for autumn and winter, so i can have some relief.

My allergies are at peak my migraines are worse.
I relly cant cope in it.
There no air to breathe.

I'm a bit like this. I seem to run warmer than most people so hate hot weather. Autumn is my favourite time of year.

Sorry OP but I just love it. Not being wrapped up in layers, not having to grab a coat, not having my body aching. I am older but not fatter, not sure if that is the difference!

Ah, we should all be slim as you then we'd have no problems.

WinterFrogs · 23/05/2026 12:36

Hot, humid and sunny where I live. Yesterday I found myself searching for Scottish towns to move to 😄

Savvysix1984 · 23/05/2026 12:38

We’ve intermittent sunshine but the doors and windows are open and it’s lovely. Our heatwave is due to top 24/25 so perfect.

RealCoralRobin · 23/05/2026 12:38

Me too, having my first migraine for months as I’m on the south coast and it’s boiling.Plus I’ve been bitten twice by bugs, next doors dog is out in the garden barking and the other side are getting their stinky bbq/radio blasting out bank holiday weekend ready to go.Also couldn’t sleep last night as it was too hot and bright.I had work at 6am so Summer can bugger off

MrsSlocombesCat · 23/05/2026 12:40

The heat is bad enough but I have shingles to add to the misery.

NNforthispost · 23/05/2026 12:44

I’ve bought a load of plants but it’s too hot to be out there putting them in so I’ll do it later. I manage much better abroad sat next to a pool. I’ve found it helps to have a kids paddling pool full of cold water and then I can sit in my garden, feet in pool, with an ice cold g and t.

My cat loves the heat - she’s elderly and arthritic and I think it feels good on her joints.

Catwalking · 23/05/2026 12:54

On bright side you only need to wear a t-shirt & knickers, instead of taking hours to get dressed with all those layers in winter to stay warm! (such an effort undressing just to use the loo 😂).
oooh also the washing dries b4 you’ve finished hanging it out, & i only spin it on a very short spin to save electric 🤭
