A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

It's not even that I disagree with the concept, I mean clearly targeted healthcare is a good idea. But just wait a day or two fgs...

@SpaceRaccoon , I have a confession to
make. I am laughing while I type this. My parent
come from the same country as clownshoe’s Lammy.

Yep. He's fanning the flames imo, deliberately. Health isn't even his brief.

Yet again it turns out that the Sikh exemption on carrying knives was a brainwave of the Theresa May government. I don't mind Theresa as a person - I think she was a very honourable public servant - but by jingo there were some daft policies enacted on her watch.

You kind of expect Labour to be useless on this kind of issue, but we also have to account for a big pro-Sikh lobby in the Conservative Party (and, weirdly, Tommy Robinson's circle)

I have no animosity towards the Sikh community, and it may be unfair to hold them responsible for a family of psychos, but look, handguns were banned because of one evil man, and if you must carry whacking great knives around as a symbol of your faith, I'd love to know why a wooden or plastic kirpan wouldn't do.

Re Henry Novak's death and all the commentary I'm flummoxed that the policeman had two men there, one said his turban had been pulled off and had a " little bruise under his eye " and the other is feeble ,weak ,speaks with a whisper and says he's been stabbed and can't breathe and is on the ground looking weak and in grave trouble

This is what I'm struggling to get past ? The police have to get between very nasty individuals, frightening big bullish men fighting bit here ...it's quite clear who was inn trouble and the murder who said he was the victim had motive to attack ?
So why didn't the police ask...did you attack him.back?

Use your eyes !

I agree re being allowed to carry knives is mind boggling.

This is the first time I've had the Sikh community on my radar .

GiaGia16 · Yesterday 19:24

For some reason the police had the misconception that Henry Nowak was drunk.

Tbf we can't hold Lammy against a whole country, unless we want to do likewise with Starmer himself 😆

HowdoyoureallyKnow · Yesterday 19:41

And if he was that drunk was he a threat ? Why handcuff him like that ? .he said he had been stabbed .
He could have been drunk and stabbed he was clearly weak. .

I just can’t get over how he was treated while dying, his young age and his lack of crime. And being surrounded by liars and the perpetrator.

Just so sad.

Pacificsunshine · Yesterday 19:57

Yeah, he just looks like a child still to me. 18 is a baby. It’s so cruel.

HowdoyoureallyKnow · Yesterday 20:15

@EasternStandard again didn't that seem suspicious his entire family was there whilst this youngster was weak and feeble on the ground.

I don't like the families comment , we wish we could turn back time and they never met.

Their son was a walking time bomb ,whoever he met he was a danger too .

Unrivalled · Yesterday 20:22

I thought that @HowdoyoureallyKnow as well,
it wasn’t really taking responsibility so unlikely to calm anything - but I looked it up and the mum (hiding evidence), the dad and the brother are all up on charges, they found the dad and brother had other undocumented weapons (a rifle, an axe).
we might feel grateful that the brother and dad were caught too…

it’s too sad but watched a bit of the commons statement.

I think the other factor is that the police are probably terrified of racism accusations, and that any perception of racism might cost them their jobs.

Agree! I do think we are made vulnerable when radicalisation, failure of integration, and institutional weakness, resulting in anti-racist training, is what we have.

The problem is not diversity, but, it is when the police, as they have done in this tragic loss of an innocent young life, act in this way because they are worried about the racial or religious implications of doing so.

That is dangerous for everyone and shouldn’t be being instilled in UK society.

Ok, I will keep that in mind when I see his bullfrog personna nodding and grimacing in PMQs beside his leader.

It makes me cringe!

The " I can't breathe " after George Floyd I can't believe no one acted.

I haven't been around this evening

How bad is the Southampton situation? There's a thread that makes it sound absolutely horrific. But from what I can see on social media, it's actually not as bad as what I was expecting.

I mean dreadful times, and I thought what it must be like to be living on those streets

But I'm finding it hard to get a handle on how bad it is. Anyone been watching and they know?

NoWordForFluffy · Yesterday 22:49

I saw her being interviewed earlier. She was visibly emotional having watched the camera footage.

I can get to the headline and that's all. It won't archive either.

Just saw KB on Newsnight. I think she came across very well. I like her more and more.

Yes, that's all I could manage. I think The Times has managed to find a way to avoid its articles being archived.
