A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Sounds good. We're having Nandos now. 😂

Is it still hot where you are? Its too cold and windy for a bbq here.

It's still warm enough for a BBQ here (20°). We've just come inside.

@Nuthatch26 I wonder if that means he's looking at the economy or getting feedback from doorstep campaigns.

He will say whatever his current audience want to hear to get what he wants. He's a shape-shifter with no principles.

I’m still out in the garden with the dogs and a glass of red.

I'm quite glad its chilly here. I needed a fleece to walk the dogs today.
I landed at Stansted yesterday and it was like an oven when I stepped off the plane.

My dog badgered me to come upstairs (townhouse, lounge on 1st floor) as he wanted to sit on the sofa with me. 🥰

38thparallel · 27/05/2026 20:41

It’s boiling here and our bedroom is unbearable. Dh and I sleep on a blow up mattress in the garden - it’s lovely with the moon and owls hooting.

I was in London Mon / Tues and it was like that when we got off the train at Euston (and for the whole trip really). Way too hot for us to cope with, which ruined it a bit.

Upstartled · 27/05/2026 20:44

Back down to 14c outside right now, not really warm enough to comfortably sit outside. Back up to 24c tomorrow though!

Another doctors strike announced. 🙄

Thats a shame.
It was really hot here yesterday, but nothing like it was at Stansted. We have a mobile aircon unit in our bedroom which is a godsend.

@38thparallel You make that sound lovely. Hope some of our cooler air makes its way to you soon so you can sleep in your own bedroom.

It was too hot. Now we're surrounded by different thunderstorms, it's windy with black clouds, sheet lightning and thunder. Not cooled down yet though

How far back do they want to go?
Deluded but funny.

00's Labour govt were the best thing since sliced bread until this morning.

Exactly. All the threads up until today on how great Labour was back then. Now dropped like a hot stone.

Only took took two years with this Labour to get to the denouncement.

I know my random interludes are sometimes not welcome

just curious if anyone wants to comment on this

I had half a conversation today which I brought back to the work topic at hand very quickly. I'll just tell you the statement. We were talking about using a different consultant because the one we favour is looking to move - however, he has apparently raised concerns because he's moving to a part of the country where they have been protesting about asylum hotels

The person speaking to me said this

"I think as a gay couple they need to think very carefully about living in the type of area that objects to asylum seekers. It's not right for LGBTQ to live in those sorts of places".

There was a lot going through my head with that statement. But I just said "right, now about this xx " - meaning the work task at hand.

Can I ask what anyone else thinks about this comment? Thanks.

Intolerance!

We can / could hear the rumbling of your thunder. It's not coming close to us yet though.

@justasking111

The owner of octopus energy says ed is a friend but he needs to stop this mad cap carbon capture scheme ! Billions spent on a scheme that isn't proven !!

I don't like tone at all one can see the sheer frustration there ! It's not the right time !!

Do it in conjunction with other stuff !

Which brand air con and was it pricey

DancingFerret · 27/05/2026 23:22

Thunderstorms?! Where?

DH and I still sitting in the garden enjoying a gentle breeze and iced drinks, but it's still uncomfortably warm. We have ceiling fans throughout the house all working on the highest settings, blinds down and curtains closed all day - and it's still as hot as Hades.🥵

There isn't a brand name on it so I don't know the make. I bought it from B&Q in 2004 for about £120-£150.
Its still going strong!

Report on young people out today. So sad.
Will the govt recognise the impact their policies on NICs, employment rights bill and NMW have had on this generation? I doubt it.

Starmer has made the problem worse with taxes. How are they so oblivious?
