Would I be an idiot to take this through airport security?

I have recently started taking creatine and am finding it so beneficial. I am going away for 5 nights next week and want to take some with me. The packet it comes in is massive. Would I be stupid to take some in a small plastic bag like this in my hand luggage ( I don’t have a hold bag) or will I be detained?

You should buy creatine sachets from Anvient and Brave. If anyone would like the code, DM me for £10 off, or any other product from there.

What's so good about it?? I've got some I've never got round to starting it. Must be good stuff if you can't go five days without it..

It makes me feel energised in particular mentally, I feel a bit sharper ( am menopausal) .

Am popping to H&B to see if I can get the sachets today.

I can’t understand why people are saying it’s a stupid idea, if you take a full bag of creatine with you they don’t look at the packaging and think ahh yes it says creatine so it can’t possibly be 1kg of cocaine. I take creatine powder and collagen powder in little screw lid Tupperware for the same reason you are saying, never been stopped and checked and if I was they would check it and see it’s not drugs it’s really not a big deal. Same people saying it’s stupid have probably taken tubs of baby formula abroad it’s no different and the packaging doesn’t matter you could have put anything in there

HoldMyWine · 17/05/2026 12:36

Thanks all I have bought some sachets to be on the safe side.

It’s fine, they might test some of it, but the machine will show straightaway that it’s nothing dodgy.

You would think so, right.

But my daughter once had some boots natural collection clear mascara that tested positive for traces of TNT. She was subjected to a private search for that one.

I would look for a smaller pack and take that, or some creatine pills if you can. I take collagen and bought single serve sachets rather than take a random bag of white powder.

yorkiegirl12 · 17/05/2026 17:57

I’ve taken “white powder” before, I usually cut off the tub label and stick it in the bag though so it explains what it is. Yes they might test it, but it’s not a big deal.

pouletvous · 17/05/2026 18:05

How long are you going for? Cant you just go a weel without taking it?

hcee19 · 17/05/2026 18:10

Usually to take meds through airport security, it is best to take your prescription with you as proof, as its lists all the meds you take and your gp. This is different as its a supplement, you could very well get pulled over, its a white powder in a plastic bag..🤷‍♀️ lf you cannot do without it, buy it in tablet or capsule form, in the plastic bottle they come in....Personally l wouldn't take it with you. I fly alot ,also take lots if medication with me, & have been stopped on a few occasions having to show my prescription.

Finchleee · 17/05/2026 18:16

I put mine in a small plastic tub so it loooks less like a drugs purchase! You’ll be fine unless you take the previous posters advice on taking coke to boost your energy!
There are creatine gummies available but the amount of creatine in them varies wildly, nowhere near advertised amounts, so not as good a supplement.

Electricsausages · 17/05/2026 18:18

If you want to be stopped and searched
go for it

Diamondsareforever72 · 17/05/2026 18:21

What benefit does the creatine give you? Am really interested. Thanks

Midgetm · 17/05/2026 18:25

Of course it’s fine. They may test it, don’t put it in a bag that makes it looks so much like drugs. I take loads of supplements everytime I fly including creatine, collagen and mushroom powder. I just put it in a pill pot or a small Tupperware. Security can tell the difference between coke and creatine…. I never take the pots as they are massive.

Zeborah · 17/05/2026 18:37

You will be fine. Anything that looks dodgy will be tested there & then

Tomasinabombadil · 17/05/2026 18:40

Google is very useful.....

MiddleAgedDread · 17/05/2026 18:44

I’ve done it with protein shake mix a number of times and never been pulled up for it.

dizzydizzydizzy · 17/05/2026 18:46

I think it would be fine. Best to take it in
its original packaging. What you do is decant most of it into a container at home, so you only have what you need. If they’re worried they’ll swab it. I had my laxative powder swabbed at Heathrow recently. 🤣 no issue.

Single50something · 17/05/2026 18:57

As you have managed until x years without taking it..am sure 5 days and nights without will be just fine.

ThistleTits · 17/05/2026 19:22

@HoldMyWine I decant my vitamins into a small bag like that and put them in with my other meds. Done it for years, no issues.

Sueandthegoldfish · 17/05/2026 19:22

It does depend on where you’re going.
Travelling to Europe I literally take exactly the number of tablets I need in a little ziplock; I have prescription and non prescription antihistamines and an asthma tablet. .. plus multi vit and calcium. They just go in my toilet bag and nobody has ever been remotely interested.
I do travel often to the Middle East and central Asia and definitely check their govt websites before travel.

spicedemerald · 17/05/2026 19:50

I do this every time I fly. Never been a problem.

Glitterbaby17 · 17/05/2026 20:02

You can get single days sachets from some places - so I’d get some like that - Zooki are good - each sachet is labelled then

ExBert80 · 17/05/2026 20:08

I took have taken collagen powder in a small Tupperware pot on a flight before. I always take loads of vits with me too. No issue.

Sleepingworries · 17/05/2026 20:10

My husband did similar with protein powder when he as in his early 20’s - he was strip searched at Heathrow which included naked squats while someone checked nothing was up his bum. I really wouldn’t do this if I was you 😂

DrumsPleaseFab · 17/05/2026 20:14

I bring a bit of washing powder with me like this every time I travel

never been an issue

ever
