Would I be an idiot to take this through airport security?

I have recently started taking creatine and am finding it so beneficial. I am going away for 5 nights next week and want to take some with me. The packet it comes in is massive. Would I be stupid to take some in a small plastic bag like this in my hand luggage ( I don’t have a hold bag) or will I be detained?

I've taken bags of powder through before. Youll be fine. They can taste it for starters to know it's not dodge

You can pre order item to pick up from thr boots at my local airport. This includes baby formula etc so you can bypass the 100ml rule at security. Im not sure on creatine but you could enquire ? Of course you might have to ditch it for the journey back.

I think you’d be fine. It’s not as though drug mules just pop a couple of scoops of cocaine in a sandwich bag and pop them in their hand luggage is it? I’d probably take the label or photo of the product with me though so I can show if asked. Worst they’ll do is confiscate it.

It's maybe OK to risk going through a UK airport departure process carrying a powder in the manner the OP describes.

Problem the process at the arrival end....there are some countries where customs officer's first reaction might not be to assume that the powder is probably benign.

...eventually......it's just a question of whether carrying the powder in the bag as shown in the image is worth the possible messing around.

It will be fine. I’ve taken plastic bags/pots full of white powder through airport security before. In my case, it’s generally baking powder.

They have on the spot tests for suspected drugs. I think you’ll be fine, but I wouldn’t do it.

i would take it, not a bother. They have tests they can do. I took washing powder in that exact Ikea bag. Quick swab and I was on my way

Another vote for they will test it and you'll be fine. Cocaine has a distinctive smell and presumably creatine is very different.

I would probably try and make it look more presentable or buy a small package of it but I'm sure it will be ok.

Depending on where you are going I wouldn't bring it back through the other way though just in case.

Depends where you are going but I have been through security at Heathrow, Manchester, Paris, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Bangkok with supplements decanted into smaller plastic bags, plus a pot of powder collagen (not OG packaging), and a pot of tooth whitening powder. Never been asked about the vitamins. They asked about the powder in the UK, I said it was collagen/whitening powder and they didn't do anything else. Even if they test it they wouldnt 'detain' you, they just take it aside and do a sample and/or swab for explosives. Just be prepared that they might throw it away if they arent happy. Otherwise no issue.

Don’t be silly. it takes seconds for security to swab a substance, police are called if the substance tests positive.

My DS brought creatine through but he bought the smallest tub and then removed most of it leaving only the amount he needed. It took up space but weighed very little. There was no problem. I thought there would be and we had an argument about it but he won and I never got my 'told you so' moment.
