We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

Decided to gather up kitchen garbage ss one bag was waiting to go out and the garbage bin was also full. 🙄 Pulled out bag and the bin was full of liquid. Ugh. Dropped bag of leaky garbage into another bag carefully; tben cleaned bin. 😵‍💫 That turned into washing walls, baseboards and door frames from kitchen, down hall and into bathroom ... as it does. 🙄😵‍💫😬 Now sitting to catch my breath as am quite hot from that blitz. Still need to fix my hair and go to Costco. 🙄

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I have zero interest in the World Cup this time. Partly as Ireland didn’t qualify but mainly due to the whole Trump issues and FIFA. I think it may be the least supported ever.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 07/06/2026 22:40

Thanks everyone - 😄😄🙈🙈 never again!!

Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc 😫 - ive gone through the whole thing but cant find anything that could be shaken out and cleaned - have boxed it up and need to have it collected tomorrow 😒 - solidarity re the bin juice! It might be the worst thing in the world 🤢

@FourSeasonsLobelia ❤️ to you all - I remember the gcse stress well, not long now - glad your mum is on good form x

@Peridot1 😄 ive spent the day thinking of all the things I need to do to this flat, I feel like once you start, something new pops up and its never ending - right now its stripping wallpaper which is taking forever 😒

@petalpower your days sound full on!! Happy birthday to your fathers x

@RunningKatie builders quotes can really vary cant they 😬, glad this ones was decent

Today's project:
Pack up vacuum and arrange return
General tidy

Both done - dd will be up late again so just killing time whilst being exhausted 😩

Love to all xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/06/2026 22:44

I know we keep things very pleasant here and I don't wish to divide us at all, but Yes @Peridot1 💯
I heard a great analysis about the cost:benefit with FIFA in particular and it was dismal.

Back from Costco and everyone is fed: rotisserie chicken in whole wheat pita, strawberries & cottage cheese.
I've got laundry going through a 2nd wash with vinegar.
Neighbour is pressure-washing.
Rain has stopped.

ps the pita is excellent, "artisan", quite fluffy, just a bit pricey.

Oh we're looking forward to the world cup here! - Me and dd are loving the flags 😄

Understand why people are against it 🥺 the evil orange man will likely pull a 'sleepy joe' anyway 🤢🤢

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/06/2026 22:51

@mumofoneAloneandwell I'll likely take the kids downtown for some of the (free) festivities regardless.

Morning all.

Spent some time this morning doing a couple of lists. One for garden stuff that needs to be done by Saturday and for house.

Yesterday we had some help in the garden from a young guy who lives in the village. Uni student wanting to earn some cash. He got loads done which is great. DH is feeling more relaxed as the back garden is now pretty much sorted. Although he hurt his arm moving a fridge we have been lent for the drinks….

I went to the supermarket and managed to scratch the side of the car quite badly on the barrier as you enter the car park. So annoying. A lovely lady came to see if I was ok when I parked and gave me a big hug. Offered to take me for a coffee too. So nice of her and her husband. DH was okay about it too. It’s only a car as he said. (He was also in the bad books for something so I think he felt we were even.)

This afternoon the interior designer we used is coming over with her handyman to put a curtain pole up and curtains back up in tv area plus some pictures in the hallway and up the stairs so once that is done we are pretty much finished for a bit. Yay!

Today’s list:

  • kitchen/dishwasher - mostly done
  • laundry - one load in
  • change a bed
  • tidy hallway
  • put hooks back into curtains
  • nip to garden centre to buy a picture I saw that I liked for the hallway and keep thinking about plus a wipe clean table cloth for the dining table
  • clean pictures for hallway and stairs
  • menu plan for the week

Have a good Monday all.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/06/2026 11:46

Morning all - happy Monday 🥰

Well dd needs to get out and let off steam but its pouring down, so we will have to make do with colouring, balloons and a trip to a quiet tesco where she can run and find her snacks (🙈)

I've managed to piss off my royal mail guy, by taking forever to get downstairs with the vacuum 😬😬😬😬 he was waiting in the rain bless him

Today's projects
Deep clean kitchen and just bin stuff i'm not using (inspired by your husband @RunningKatie 😄)
Make dd a chicken tikka
Go through dd's toys and bag stuff up for the charity shop
Have an everything shower

@Mumtobabyhavoc me and dd will be doing the same, I am wondering if the early england matches will be streamed at Coal Drops Yard on a big screen 🤔

Have a lovely week everyone 😘

FourSeasonsLobelia · 08/06/2026 12:40

happy Monday everyone!

Just a drive-by post to say best wishes to you all. Thanks

WinterFrogs · 08/06/2026 13:55

Hi! Driving by too like @FourSeasonsLobelia! Bucketing down here this morning as expected. I've been quite productive in a sort of pomodoro way. Emails responded to, calls made ✔️ Glitch with phone touch screen sorted ( thanks AI!)
An hour pulling up weeds in my mother's garden and got rid of some bits she'll never need again ( or miss, which is the biggie) Hair cut ✔️ Half an hour in own garden 💪 ( Gardening all before rain started - got up early)
Must put dry laundry away and run hoover round, dinner is weekend leftovers so I'm hoping to get some reading in this afternoon.

Big hugs to all, you wonderful bunch of projecters including any lurkers 👋

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/06/2026 02:52

No real chores today, just some laundry and errands after running dc to/from activities. Am quite tired, though.
Havoc wanted a "red pizza with the dots" ...
meant tomato sauce and pepperoni. Had never eaten either, so after a trip to the shop we made one. I added buffalo mozzarella, spinach and bell pepper because that's what goes on pizzas. Right??? 😁🤞
Both dc have eaten it, Baby had 2nds. 👏🤗

eta Baby said the sauce "looked like blood." 😵‍💫🤦‍♀️

Gosh those pizzas really look amazing @Mumtobabyhavoc . I'd be pleased to get spinach past mine!

Today is an 'at home' day. I need to do some of the regular sort of house stuff. Yesterday i bought a campanula and popped it in a bare spot underneath a tree. That was my 'gardening'!

Hope everyone has a good day and all are well. x

Peridot1 · 09/06/2026 10:05

Morning all!

Those pizzas look delicious @Mumtobabyhavoc!

Yesterday was fairly productive. Curtains and new pole are up in sitting area. Mirror is up in the hallway. Although it’s too high….. will get DH to move it.

BBQ admin is ongoing. It’s like herding cats. Nobody reads DH’s spreadsheet and chimes in with what they think is happening. And what they are doing. I suggested we should get together one day to have a quick chat and plan but that didn’t happen. So. Thankfully it’s DH doing the admin not me as I’d be less patient!

Today’s list:

  • charity shop run
  • pick up duvet from laundry
  • add to drinks order at wine shop
  • quick supermarket run (not where I dinged my car on Sunday…)
  • clear and clean fridge
  • change a bed which didn’t get done yesterday
  • normal laundry
  • maybe some weeding depending on rain

Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/06/2026 16:28

Lobelia, I only make pizza that includes veg, so my kids don't know anything else. This can't last, though... 😬

OP posts:
autumnangel · 09/06/2026 16:35

That pizza looks incredible @Mumtobabyhavoc well done getting all the goodness into the kids
I had to google campanula @FourSeasonsLobelia (I'm not a gardener at all!) love the colour
I've missed lots of this thread...is your big bbq this weekend @Peridot1?

I've been unwell for a couple of weeks now. Nothing major but still haven't got to the bottom of it and now I'm feeling more miserable than anything else. I've been spending a lot of time just sitting around doing nothing. The house has gone completely to pot as I've not even been doing the bare minimum. The fridge smells awful and the bin is overflowing etc. I've had far too many takeaways and not enough fresh air. I am feeling a little better today so I'm starting with the basics. I've thrown out the rotten food and realised there is not much to make an actual meal so I've made a meal plan and I'm going to go to Asda.

It's 4.30pm and I'm not out of pj's or brushed my teeth yet. It's been so long since I put effort into anything I'm struggling to see where feeling ill stops and the effects of sofa rotting start.

Hope everyone is doing well

WinterFrogs · 09/06/2026 17:22

Those look lovely @Mumtobabyhavoc 😍

Love to you @autumnangel ❤️ Have you had any bereavement counselling or seen your GP? I wish we could help 💐

I scraped my car the other day too @Peridot1. Squeezed into a hedge but found a sticky out branch too. Party plans coming on; you're nearly there!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/06/2026 17:31

Winter, dorry about your car. Me, too, though. 🙄 TBF it happened ages ago and missed the insurance window make a claim, so have decided to live with it. 🙈

Autumn, that sounds rather worrying. Please follow-up with your GP asap. 🩷

Thanks everyone for the comments re the pizza. It was quite good! Wish you could pop by! Pizza and pizza dough is something I've learned to do quite well. Took a while, though...

mumofoneAloneandwell · 09/06/2026 17:38

Hi everyone

Our day started at midday here - still suffering the effects of that nap we took last week 😫

Today's projects
Empty bins - done
Organise a small food shop - everything is stupidly expensive now - done
Washing up - done
Make butter chicken for dd who is apparently only eating rice and chicken now - rice done, curry on
Clean bedroom - will do before bed

@autumnangel your post has really touched me as I've been there 🥺 - you take all the time you need to get back, but definitely a good job just to tackle the most obvious things at first. You can make it to asda, and will feel so much better once you do!

Can you get a window open and some music on and set 10 mins to clear your sitting area? I found that was the best way to get going. Sorry its tough 😔💐. As above, it might be time to reach out to the doctors? You deserve to feel okay xx

@Mumtobabyhavoc that pizza looks lovely, so good that theyre happy to eat the spinach - mine will eat the pepperoni and then declare herself finished!

@Peridot1 sounds stressful but not long now! @WinterFrogs someone backed into my fiesta at tesco - forgot I need to get that sorted!

@FourSeasonsLobelia an indoor day here too, sometimes you just need one xx

Love to all on the best ever mumsnet thread!

watchPhone · 09/06/2026 19:19

@autumnangel I hope you got to Asda and got yourself some lovely fresh food x baby steps ❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/06/2026 01:46

Just about to make dinner here. Kids and I have been watching YT music vids and I thought I'd share this one...

OP posts:
WinterFrogs · 10/06/2026 07:19

That's astonishing and brilliant and hilarious all at once @Mumtobabyhavoc!
I googled them thinking that this be right...but there they are! What did the children make of it?

watchPhone · 10/06/2026 11:20

I expected one of them to trash the cello at the end but I guess cellos are quite spendy.

I've just had a semi terse phone call with a car hire company as they do their pre-checks for a weekend hire - I know it's to do with their risk assessment for insurance blah blah blah but I don't want the segue into what their plans for the weekend are!!!

So the bathroom is nearly finished, all plumbing done, but they need to come back on Friday to put the radiator, shelves, bathroom cabinet on. I am not quite sure why they didn't include painting the walls on the quote as we had asked them to (my miss) so we are now trying to paint all around fixtures and fittings and are paranoid about getting paint in places it shouldn't 😄It is all completely covered up.

Today

  • clean the bathroom door; it has bits of plaster on it and some black marks
  • chuck the redundant heater on the skip before the skip goes Friday
  • put an undercoat on skirting boards
  • debit card has gone awol again and I am out the rest of the week so I really do need to find it. I have definitely checked all coat pockets and jeans/trousers.
  • my phone is about to give up the ghost (bits of glass flaking off the screen and the touchscreen is starting to be a bit hit and miss) so I need to investigate a replacement
  • Desk. Tidy. Who knows, debit card may be under all the paperwork. (Oh no it's not)
  • Another sibling birthday next week need to post some stuff off to him
  • need to find a birthday card for friend am seeing tonight! I don't want to go empty handed but I am fighting my inner fussiness over cards 😄 I don't have an hour to dither in front of a card selection today.
  • clean up an toothbrush holder - if it doesn't scrub up well in the skip it'll go 😄
Best be off, have a good one, SoE
mumofoneAloneandwell · 10/06/2026 15:24

Afternoon all 🥰🥰

Collected my shopping - done
Set up the replacement vacuum - done
Deep clean the living room in preparation for the World Cup starting tomorrow
Hang up washing 😪

@autumnangel did you make it to asda? If not, no worries, youre still a worthwhile person - you can get through this x

@Mumtobabyhavoc what talented men eh!

@WideOpenBeaches oh gosh, i'm sure youll be okay re the paint - as long as you mist coated!

Have a lovely one all xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/06/2026 15:28

Winter/SoE, I've seen modern performances with classical instruments before (mostly on tv) and these two were so much fun to watch! The kids weren't quite sure what to make of it, but enjoyed it.

SoE, when my new kitchen counter was installed fixing/painting/caulking around it wasn't included.

I've been awake since 6am anticipating lab tech visit between 7-8 for my mum. It's 7:30 now. 🙄

OP posts:
Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/06/2026 16:01

MumofOne, that was quick re vacuum! 👏
I also did a bit of laundry - yesterday. 🙄
Had the kids out for a hike on Burnaby Mtn in the afternoon and Baby got some dirt and grass stains on pants (trousers). Put them into wash, along with chocolate covered clothes from the hot chocolate and s'mores we had when we got back home and the grass/dirt didn't quite come out, although the chocolate did (much to my surprise!). I knew I should have stain treated, but chanced it. 🤦‍♀️

Attaching pic from view from Trans Canada Trail/Pandora Trail intersection. It's through the mist as it became quite windy and started pouring while we were there. if you enlarge you'll see a boat way down below. Deep Cove is to the NW and Belcarra to the NE and I'm over-looking Barnet Marine Park (roughly).
