@autumnangel I hope you’ve been able to make some small steps forward. As others have already said do you think it would be worth seeing your gp? Sending love.
That clip is quite something @Mumtobabyhavoc!
How long until the bbq now @Peridot1 ? Hopefully this spell of wet weather will have made the garden grow and look lovely but will pass in time for the bbq.
Any news on your mum @FourSeasonsLobelia ? I hope everything is going as well as it can.
Apologies on anyone I’ve missed out - it’s lovely to hear what you’ve all been up to!
We've been away looking after and visiting oldies and family since Monday and going home sometime today. Waiting for a fairly important visit from a medical person for FIL before we leave and they haven’t specified a time. Will visit my dad again this morning. He slept through all but 20 seconds of my visit yesterday - only opened his eyes briefly but I hope he knew I was there.

Peridot1 · 11/06/2026 09:43

Morning all.

Hope you are feeling better @autumnangel. A GP visit might be a good idea.

You have been busy @Mumtobabyhavoc. As always!

@watchPhone - hope the bathroom has turned out as you hoped.

BBQ is on Saturday. Weather forecast is good 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞. We do have gazebos on standby.

Garden is looking good @petalpower. The rain has definitely helped. And it’s raining currently so will help some more. I could do a few more bits but we are at the stage where it’s extras really. I need to plant two pots by the front door but if I don’t I don’t. DH still has lots of plug plants in the greenhouse so might just dump some of them in. They are pretty tiny though. Actually he does have some blue lobelias so might put them in in honour of our lovely @FourSeasonsLobelia.

Yesterday was gym day plus a trip to the garden centre not for plants. I had seen a picture I really liked so got that and a wipeable table cloth for our dining table in case of drips or spills on Saturday. Afternoon was weeding followed by eyebrow tint and pedicure.

Today is all inside jobs. Pictures to go up in hallway. Clean and clear fridge in kitchen. Clean and sort fridge in garage. Clean lights over island unit. Dust and sort display cabinets/shelf unit in dining area. I have been redistributing ornaments etc from it to other rooms as they have been finished so it’s looking a bit odd as there are lots of gaps. Vacuum and wash floors in kitchen/dining area. Wine, beer and glasses get delivered this afternoon so will need dealing with.

Have a great day all.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 11/06/2026 10:45

@Mumtobabyhavoc it came on tuesday! I must say, i was impressed with the whole experience with Very.co.uk. I had their insurance.

That place looks beautiful!

@petalpower my love to you and your pils x

@Peridot1 glad its all coming together

Good morning everyone from a very tired household! But dd is up, on 6 hours sleep. World Cup opening ceremony today so I will be trying to teach her the 'en ger land' chant! She will likely not care 😄

Today's projects:
Deep clean kitchen
Pop to sainsburys for bunting and snacks
Get admin organised - theres papers everywhere, I dont feel like I know where everything is should an emergency crop up

Have a lovely one all 🥰

FourSeasonsLobelia · 11/06/2026 10:56

Thanks so much @petalpower . She had her 'big op' our time 9 pm last night, out at around 3 am our time. She is currently under heavy sedation and not expected to be brought out of it until tomorrow. The operation went well it seems. My dad is staying in a hotel near the hospital and said people were very pleased with how it went.

The Dcs and I are due to head off there in 2 and a bit weeks. It feels like an eon away really. She is expected to be out of hospital / isolation in around 10 days.

I hope your FIL is well and your dad too. Thanks It's so hard!

Thinking of you @autumnangel . You have had just so so much to deal with over months- not surprising to have a huge emotional crash now. Thanks thinking of you. xxx

Thanks @Peridot1 Smile. I bought blue lobelia too yesterday! I have re-started my spring/summer habit of buying a pot plant every time I go to the supermarket to fill in gaps in the garden beds. One particularly bare bed is beginning to look very full!

@mumofoneAloneandwell your DD is going to have happy memories of the World Cup! As I get older I have come to truly believe in the principle of celebrating everything you possibly can. It's joyful!!

I have my lobelia to plant today and some purple dhalias also. Our cleaner has been and gon and so I tend to use Thursdays to catch up on batch cooking and laundry as I don't feel the compelling presence of the Unwashed Floor following me around grumbling. Smile

Love and hugs to all on our lovely thread- and to lurkers too. ❤

autumnangel · 11/06/2026 12:02

Thank you all for your very kind messages. I was at my GP at the beginning of the week and she has giving me some medication but it's not really helping. I think I've had an allergic reaction to something on top of a huge hormonal change (just came off the pill after 25 years) as well as an emotional time (one year this week since DH became unwell and my entire life turned upside down). I'm sure everything will sort its self out eventually but for now I'm just plodding on. I had booked a massage for myself this morning but due to the rash I have all over my body I had to cancel. I was really looking forward to it but I'll reschedule as soon as I can.
I recently bought the batch lady book and this morning I prepped 3(x2) meals from it as well as prepping the lovely spanish chicken traybake from the hairy bikers website so now I have 8 meals in the freezer ready to be defrosted and cooked. I'd love to do big batch cooking but I have a bit of a thing about defrosting cooked food and reheating. I'm not really sure what the problem is and I should probably try and get over it but for now prepping, freezing, defrosting and cooking will do for now. Looking forward to a new recipe this evening - char sui pork chops.
In other news, I spotted a pair of roller skates in the charity shop window the other day and I couldn't stop thinking about them. It's been years since I rollerskated but I looked online and there is a roller rink in town so I've booked myself a spot for next week. Really looking forward to getting out the house and trying something new.
Anyway that was longer than I thought it would be. Hope you are all well, sending much love to everyone.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 11/06/2026 12:09

Roller skates!!!

Now, that sounds the business! I hope you enjoy. I am so sorry about the one year anniversary week. It's no wonder you have had a dip. Thanks

Love to you, dear @autumnangel xx

Peridot1 · 11/06/2026 12:13

@FourSeasonsLobelia - so pleased your mum’s op went well. I’m sure you were on tenterhooks all day. My dad had a quadruple bypass a few years ago and I couldn’t sit still. Deep cleaned my mum’s entire kitchen as a displacement activity. I hope her recovery is smooth.

@autumnangel - do you know what could have caused the allergic reaction? I’m sure your system is reacting to emotional stress so things maybe more sensitive than normal. Well done on the cooking. The char Sui pork chops sound good.

watchPhone · 11/06/2026 14:46

@Peridot1 it has!!!! apart from a leaky shower 😄 luckily they are back tomorrow and it appears to have stopped leaking 😄(for now) I did have the first shower yesterday which was amazing.

@FourSeasonsLobelia speedy recovery to your mum
Today

  • need to do some gloss painting for the skirting boards - DONE
  • need to put back on the toilet roll holder and get rid of all the stuff - covering all the fixtures once sibling has finished second coat on bit of wall. - DONE
  • need to check in for tomorrow's car hire - DONE
  • Finance admin -DONE
  • need to go for a little run but it is raining - will get ready and then when rain stops I have no excuse.
  • tidy up all the tape and rubbish from the cubby opposite bathroom
  • just realised the floor where all the bathroom stuff is now clear !!! so i can spread out and get my sewing stuff back out,
that's all for now, have a good one, SoE
RunningKatie · 11/06/2026 17:32

@autumnangel - sending you a gentle hug, you've had so much to contend with, your poor body sounds like it's processing it all.
@FourSeasonsLobelia - fingers crossed your mum is recovering well.

I've just made 4 different evening meals, so frustrating but also lunches done for tomorrow and my breakfast prepped.
Next I need to wash up as the dishwasher is full to bursting and then help dc1 to do some revision. I fear they are going to crash and burn this first set of mocks but also that it's ok and might help focus them for future revision.

Hoping dh is coming home armed with cake this evening, feeling I've earnt it!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 11/06/2026 17:39

Thank you @FourSeasonsLobelia , I hope so!

Okay, so glad the docs are happy with how the op went, and that its done. Fingers crossed for the next two weeks flying by so you can be with her ❤️

@autumnangel well done on getting up and about, and sorry its been almost a year, that could be why youve been feeling so low xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/06/2026 07:48

Just in bed now. It was a busy day. Med appt this morning across town. So 45 min drive each way and a 10 min walk after parking. It was gorgeous and I really enjoyed that brisk walk, though! Did some admin for Havoc's activity after that taking advantage of actually being on my own as kids were at home with my mum. Then popped by my gym to update my pass as am considering returning. 🙄🤔
Back home made lunch, got kids out for some play, back home to make dinner, took kids out to playground and put gas in the car as price dropped from $1.99 p/l this afternoon to $1.93 p/l, but it still cost me $75 to fill as tank was under 1/4 full. 🙄
Back home and got kids ready for bed, parked them in front of tv while I put laundry on then helped my mum have a bath and get her exercises done. Hung up laundry and had a bath and washed my hair. I might colour it tomorrow. 🤔

@autumnangel that does sound like an adverse reaction. 💐
@mumofoneAloneandwell you sound stellar in how you look after your dd and the special things you do. 💫
Hope you got your cake @RunningKatie 🍰
@watchPhone aka SoE, hope your shower leak is resolved. 🤞
Lobelia, so glad to hear surgery seems to have gone well. I think you'll find the next two weeks will go fast as you will likely be trying to get a lot done and in order so you can head off without things nagging at you. I hope your dad is ok? The stress must be tough on him. 🩷
Petal, hope your dad and FiL are okay (as can be)? My auntie used to say, MumtoBabyHavoc, don't get old. 🤔
Peridot, I still haven't planted anything. 🙈
But my keen and kid neighbour stuck a couple of lettuce plants in my garden. Was that a hint? 🤔😂
How are you doing Winter? ☺️

Got another busy day tomorrow. Need to drop off something for my mum at the lab, take her to med appt across town and go to Costco. Will try and get some more admin done for Havoc's activity in the morning. I better go to sleep. Night night. 🥱🩷

Thinking of your mum and all your family @FourSeasonsLobelia ❤️ I hope the days fly by!
Sounds like a bit of a day @RunningKatie so I hope he did bring cake!
Busy day here yesterday so we resorted to the pub for dinner as neither of could be bothered to cook. As always, lots of money for something very uninspiring that would have been nicer at home. But we didn't have to think so that's a benefit. And no washing up either.
I am not surprised that you are feeling like this on such a sad anniversary @autumnangel 😢 I love the sound of the roller skating. It's the sort of thing I'd do with a yeah I've still got it attitude, and promptly fall over and break something. But I think I'm probably a fair bit older than you. I do pre-emptive voltarol before gardening now 😳

I love your football excitement @mumofoneAloneandwell 😄 Not ashamed to admit that the whole thing is passing me by 😎 DH has been watching golf on tv but keeps up with football results on his phone.

Congratulations on the new shower @watchPhone It sounds like you are in training for something- what have I missed?

Shall do a sun dance today for you @Peridot1. Hoping tomorrow dawns fair and bright!

I love that misty photo @Mumtobabyhavoc

Ah @petalpower 💐 You have such a lot on! I hope you are getting time to relax as well.

Good morning/evening @Mumtobabyhavoc congratulations on a bit of time alone! You are such a plate spinner!

Slept late by my standards this morning. Must get up and do something useful. Volunteering today so need to have a proper breakfast or I'll be stopping for sweeties by midday. Have promised to cook a decent meal tonight as we'll otherwise end up in the pub again and my bank balance will suffer.

Have a great day all ☕️ 🍰

Peridot1 · 12/06/2026 09:03

Morning all.

Yes please to Sun dance @WinterFrogs!

Yesterday we put pictures up in the hallway, I sorted the display units (needs. It of a rejig), washed towels, did lists, ordered a rug for the hallway, put new cushions on the new sofas and tidied the hallway.

Today I’m going to Costco with my neighbour to get stuff for bbq, tidying, and lots of random stuff I think. It will be a bit of a bitty day.

Have a great day all.

Hope your mum is doing well @FourSeasonsLobelia.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 12/06/2026 09:21

Coming out of lurking to say I'll join the sun dance for @Peridot1! I'm sure it will all go wonderfully.

Been running around all week, various house things, on site day yesterday, work thing in London tonight, getting house tidy for kitchen designer person coming this afternoon (hurrah!), some PTA work, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something else. Luckily H's work busyness has eased off for a while so he's taken over laundry duties - I am appreciative even if sometimes I would do things differently.

Hoping to do a quick pharmacy & charity shop drop off before lunch today.

Friday flowers to all 💐🌹🌷

WinterFrogs · 12/06/2026 14:07

I'll do a dance if the old knees hold up @Peridot1 otherwise I'll stick with praying. Just imagine next week. You'll be all happy after a fun and successful do, and relax in a lovely organised house and beautiful garden!

👋 @SingleThreadJoiner2 you also spin all the plates! Mischief seems to be managed pretty well though 😍

I have been helping DDs with errands this morning. They have a bit of pressure in their lives currently so trying to help out a bit. But avoided the sweetshop. Missed my routines this morning as shot up and out of bed after posting earlier. So got home to dishes, unmade bed etc. So had shower and started the day again.

Washing on, mopped floor and plan to get groceries in after a bit of menu planning with what we have already. Have avoided work emails but going to have to look at some point. Anything urgent people usually phone me. Not having work emails on phone is a big, better late than never, win for the MH.

Better get back to it as trying to get done before Dh gets back and he finishes early on Fridays.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 12/06/2026 16:01

Just a quick hello from me - me and dd went to a market today, which was nice, and involved a trip on the tube which she loves

Home now and its catching up with last night's match and cooking another curry - chicken tikka this time.

Thanks all 🙂, i hope she likes what we're doing, I do think shes a bit bored of being out of school 😩 but we wont get this time again!

Glad to see you all, best of luck for tomorrow @Peridot1 !! I'll hold off on whining about the sun just for you!

❤️❤️

Just got home from errands - yeah! - and managed to do the lab drop-off and pick up an order from Costco, so that saves me from doing it later. We're all having a quick lunch of rotisseries chicken in pita with grapes and fresh pineapple. Have put the soccer game on: Canada v Bosnia & Herzigovina. We're down 1-0.

OP posts:
Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/06/2026 03:21

Wasn't home until 4:15pm from my mum's 2pm med appt across town. But. Fortuitously, one of her other specialists phoned me during the appt and both doctors tag-teamed a plan for my mum. I'm so glad I answered that blocked number! 😅
We were all starving by the time we git home, so I started dinner right away - just a very quick penne bolognese and steamed ginger garlic broccoli which the kids hoovered while we waited for the pasta. #winning!!!! 😁
Have just given dc their baths, washed their hair, they got themselves into their pj's and are now parked on the couch watching Madagascar on Netflix. 😅

I've got a colour in my hair and am waiting for laundry to finish spinning so I can hang it up.
Cleaned bathroom except tub.
got some colour drips on the wall somehow which has stained so will need to paint over. 🙄. But, not complaining as I've saved at least $200 in a salon visit. (If it looks good!) 🙏
Still have a couple hours admin etc to do. 😢😢😢

OP posts:
Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/06/2026 07:47

Admin done. Just made coffee so it's ready for tomorrow as I am going to need it. Going to set several alarms to make sure I get up. 😬
Unsure about the hair colour... not quite what I thought it would be. 😵‍💫

Hurray to kids getting themselves sorted @Mumtobabyhavoc!

It's a big day on here!! The project @Peridot1 party 🥳

Have a lovely day everyone 😘

mumofoneAloneandwell · 13/06/2026 09:16

Morning all - thats right, we are up at a normal time! Hopefully we have recovered from that bloody nap we took last week

Got to get out today - not sure where but its gonna be warm! As promised @Peridot1 I shall not complain until your party is successfully complete. Hope it goes well!

@Mumtobabyhavoc I diy hair and beauty stuff - maybe you need time to get used to the colour x

Love to you all ❤️

Peridot1 · 13/06/2026 09:40

Morning all!

Thanks for all the good wishes and sun dances and prayers for today. It’s looking good so far!

About to tackle the kitchen and utility room. And move my car. And check the list DH and I did last night.

We have friends arriving at 11 to set up the rented tables and chairs. Also have some borrowed folding tables to set up for food and drinks etc. Once that is all done I will make the Coronation Chicken and Greek Salad I am doing and start setting everying out ready for 4pm start. See you all on the other side!

@WinterFrogs - I am definitely planning on just enjoying the rest and calm next week!

WinterFrogs · 13/06/2026 10:25

I stick with not beautiful but hoping not to scare the horses @mumofoneAloneandwell 😆 Are you fighting grey or just making a change @Mumtobabyhavoc?

We're all partying with you @Peridot1 In my case a pyjama party! Will get dressed soon.

We had a lot of parties like your bbq when i was growing up. They were fun when someone else was doing the work. My mother was an excellent hostess and we had the biggest garden so their club parties happened at ours. In hindsight they were pretty wild ( I was a child if the 60s/70s so you can imagine!!)

Hope it's fun 💕

watchPhone · 13/06/2026 10:50

@Peridot1 have a fab day 🤞🌞🌞🌞
