We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

@mumofoneAloneandwell - it’s a bbq for around 60 people in the village that we are holding in our garden but jointly hosting with some others in the village. We did one three years ago after some of the men went to a charity cricket day and drunkenly bid for a catered bbq for 50 and won. We hosted as garden is big enough and we are fairly central in village. It was decided to do again but this time it’s not catered. Currently lots of discussion about food and who is doing what. We are focussed on getting the garden ready and I want the house finished. Well downstairs anyway.

WinterFrogs · 03/06/2026 18:13

Gotta love chatgpt @Peridot1! You won't know what to do with yourself come the 14th! We'll be here cheering you on till then.

I've had a nice day. Saw my mum - dropped off some bits she needed. She's in a bit of a muddle today but very sweet with it. Met a friend for a coffee this afternoon and i have finished my latest audio book. We All Live Here by Jojo Moyes - read by Jenna Colman. Highly recommend the book and Jenna is a lovely narrator.

Standard jobs today- nothing that'll stay done. But I have changed the sheets and put the fleece duvet cover back on. We sleep with the window open and I was cold under just a sheet this morning. Littlest came to tea and her mum has just collected her. I'm just about to clear up the trail of destruction.

Really windy here! And cool but not cold. Washing is in the dryer. Must put away. Cleaned the bath this morning too.

Hope you're all doing well 😊

Laundry never ends. 😵‍💫

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 04/06/2026 08:43

It never does @Mumtobabyhavoc.

@WinterFrogs - the 14th will be clean up but from the 15th I will be doing nothing!

Yesterday I did DS’s room - except his desk and changed his bed. Changed all towels in bathrooms. Washed towels. Sorted and cleaned utility room. Still a bit to go but it looks a lot better. Went with DH to order wine and rent glasses for bbq. Took my winter duvet to be laundered. Moved a table back onto landing from spare room. Went through pictures to try to decide what goes where in hall, stairs and landing.

Today:

  • usual dishwasher/kitchen/laundry
  • finish utility room
  • we have new sofas being delivered this afternoon for tv area off kitchen so need to move current sofas and vacuum and clean ready for new sofas
  • blinds on landing are going back up today - one is 5m high - other is reachable from landing. They are also remote controlled. So guy who installed them is coming to put them back up. I want to give them a vacuum first as they are a bit dusty
  • vacuum kitchen and dining area
  • tidy off shelves in dining area which has become a bit of a dumping ground while the sideboard was being painted
  • put things back into sideboard

Was hoping curtain pole and curtains would go back up in sitting area this week but I don’t think that will now happen before the bbq annoyingly as the guy who is doing it is on holiday next week. He is also supposed to put pictures and mirrors up. Nobody else will care but I’m a bit annoyed. He might have time tomorrow so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Have a great day all.

watchPhone · 04/06/2026 10:50

hello! Still in bathroom chaos but walls are plastered, shower tray in place and tiler here today, so ready for big push to finish next week and also the vanity unit will be in place by end of day I believe. And it is finally quieter. So, coming along. However, we have discover HUGE dying flies which we think are coming from the loft! The loft hatch has been moved and is currently open so we have covered it over with some spare plasterboard lying around. All the boxes of stuff are slowly disappearing - some stuff went back today and I am slowly chucking stuff in the skip!!! Just need to go and buy some paint tomorrow no time today.

I also took delivery of a visual time cube (aka a kitchen timer 🤣) - you can set 4 times 5, 10, 25, 50 minutes - which has worked amazingly well for my attention span (or it’s a novelty!) today and I had a very productive work yesterday using it.
Other things from today

  • gym this morning
  • need to wash gym kit for refpilates tonight
  • Visit sibling who lives nearby later for a shower 🚿
  • Buy a new pan!!! Our only decent sized one has sprung a leaky
  • I need to book a day off for next Friday
  • there are piles of clean clothes everywhere with nowhere to go 🤣
  • I need a notebook from a room blocked by tradies…. I’m resistant to typing a list. I need pen and paper. I also need my watch charger from same room….
  • I had ChatGPT do me a weekly menu based around macros and a list of preferred. One of the meals was oats and whey powder 🤔 - I was why are you recommending sawdust? 🤣 Milk and yoghurt was also on the list so was expecting overnights oats or something. Anyway - I can figure it out myself was just being super lazy. I will call it curious rather than lazy. So menu planning it is.
  • SpiritDoggo has a bright red patch on her chest so need to grab a photo of it to send to vet to see if it needs a vet visit.
  • finance admin Thats it for now, have a good one, SoE

All go round these parts! Let me join in by saying that I renewed the lease on our car - took barely five minutes and will Stay Done for another 24 months 🎉

Need to do online shopping order before this evening, and chase something about potential new kitchen...

mumofoneAloneandwell · 04/06/2026 12:31

Afternoon all

Yesterday was spent getting my MOT sorted - twas a nightmare that had me rushing about all over trying to get a replacement registration plate - Halfords do them for £18 but then I needed ID documents - having to print my insurance documents, which meant using my printer which just never works without me begging it to, downloading apps and saying a prayer 🙄🙄 - then rushing back to kwik fit, who were so busy but squeezed us in

Anyway, it took 6 hours but it got done and passed.

Dd was amazing, and only got tetchy towards the end, which I am so grateful for - she got cupcakes and cuddles as a well deserved thank you treat 😄😄 (only one of those she was interested in, the other was tolerated!)

Anyway today is to clean the carpet on the stairs , and the living room which has papers everywhere (from me searching for my insurance proof)

@Mumtobabyhavoc thank you, glad to be back 🥰 - although I am with you on the laundry, another load is going on today 😪

@Peridot1 thats lovely of you to host the village. In my mind I picture Emmerdale 😄, i'm willing it to go well for you all - and 100% that you get the weather

@SingleThreadJoiner2 cheers to jobs that stay done - yes to a new kitchen! I'm renovating mine myself (not a full scale reno) after watching tiktoks. Slow going but why not - we deserve good things! 🥰

@watchPhone that time cube sounds like something they have on The Bear - sounds cool and I now want one!
Hope everything is okay with spiritdoggo - and glad the bathroom reno is coming along nicely x

@WinterFrogs lovely and windy here too - which obvs i am very happy about 😌 - will check out the book 👀 x

Boo to moths and flies, but love to you all, kids and pets and parents and villagers included ❤️

RunningKatie · 04/06/2026 16:45

Hi all, laundry truly never ends.
It's gone cool here again and I've had some manic work days so feeling like I need a good nap in some warm sunshine. Seems very unlikely right now.
Trying to get dc1 to revise for mocks, they are a little too laidback!
Glad it's nearly the weekend, out for drinks after work tomorrow, then a full on weekend of teenager chauffeuring.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 05/06/2026 13:01

This morning I sorted out something to do with online banking that I had been putting off for literally six months because I thought it was too much hassle and would take hours.

It took barely five minutes.

I never learn, do I?!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/06/2026 17:10

Good for you, Single. That's so often the case, isn't it?

It has turned quite chilly here. Two days ago it was almost 30c and now it's 11c with rain on the way.

I put a load of laundry in as soon as breakfast was given to dc. 😁
Have got a pvr'd chat show on, am sipping my iced latte and have time for another before I'll need to need to get Havoc to activity.

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 05/06/2026 17:37

@mumofoneAloneandwell - definitely not like Emmerdale. Much less drama and shenanigans!

@SingleThreadJoiner2 - that would be me with anything to do with online banking. Always think it’s going to be a nightmare!

@watchPhone - hope Spiritdoggo is ok. I like the sound of your cube. Might have a look. Or I suppose I could just set the timer on my phone….

Didn’t quite get my yesterday list complete but got some things done. Blinds are back up in hallway and he even cleaned the high window for me. It’s a ridiculous design and I feel I should get the architect out to explain themselves at times. And send them up the ladder to clean the window….. New sofas are in and look good.

I had a bit of a lazy morning. After been woken just before 7 by council truck picking up our old sofas from outside. Had a PT session. Then a quick nip to the supermarket. Did some weeding in the side garden this afternoon. Gave up as knees were sore from kneeling. Noticed a few of the plants I put in have either died or are not doing anything so may nip for replacements tomorrow.

DH is out tonight so it’s just DS and I for dinner. Was hoping he’d fancy the pub but sadly not.

Happy Friday all.

Just a quick one from me

Me and dd have napped this evening so it will be a LATE one for us 😪

Today's projects
Get bags to the dump - done
Paint - not done, maybe tonight
Make a curry - done and waiting for dd to wake up fully and eat

Got flies coming in and I dont know why, i'm convinced dd has hidden food somewhere 🤔 so will sort that the second she sits down to eat

I'm listening to an album I used to love before sitting down to Love Island: Our Version of Events by Emeli Sande. So good

Thanks @watchPhone , ive stuck it in the amazon basket

@Mumtobabyhavoc your day started off productively, my laundry from yesterday still needs hanging up 😫

@Peridot1 congrats on the new sofas, are you comfy on them or are you like me who refuses to sit on them to preserve the newness for as long as possible?

@SingleThreadJoiner2 always the way

Best to all, and to teens during GCSE season xx

WinterFrogs · 06/06/2026 10:21

Hello everyone. Happy Saturday!

I'm doing a bit of a reset and feeling like @SingleThreadJoiner2's soul sister with jobs I've been putting off taking just minutes to complete.

I use my phone timer quite a lot but I'm really tempted to get a physical timer like the one you shared @watchPhone because I only really relax when my phone is off and away in the back of a drawer. Except (and here comes the stream of consciousness) I work better with music, which in my world requires spotify on my phone.

I have deleted work emails from my phone and I'm hoping that will help productivity. It was accidental but I like it. I find I'm addicted to my phone itself more than social media. I've just remembered that i can stream spotify from my laptop. I have some work to do around this I think.

I have found some old glasses which are also varifocals and they are better than my everyday varifocals, which are better for seeing distance, so now that I have got started on my latest book using audible, I've been able to pick up reading with my eyes again.

Warned you all, sorry 😆

I'm the worst for playing the same soundtrack on repeat so i love it when you folk share what you're listening to. I will check out your one @mumofoneAloneandwell I have just fallen in love with with Kaleo. Currently playing Way Down We Go 💕

All coming together nicely @Peridot1! Well done. I hope you love the new sofas. Do you feel like you've got a new house with all the recent improvements?

Best wishes to the gcse sitters and their families 💐

It's gone chilly here too @Mumtobabyhavoc and I am finding it a lot more comfortable. Raining too, which we really need, even this early in the summer and after an insanely wet winter. There must be some answer to storing all the winter water ( you'd think, but apparently more reservoirs means flooding some areas like they did with the Lady Bower one) So I've already had emails from the water board telling me to conserve water and just using it for drinking, washing and cooking.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 06/06/2026 21:15

Hi all- sorry been awol the past few days.

I feel lime I am in waiting and watching mode with my mother and her operations. She is in good form now and I am calling Australia twice a day. The current plan is we hang fire until she has had her surgery and then the DCs and I go first week of July. She will still be in ICU for some of that.

DS1 now has 3 GCSEs to go. It's been fraught with anxiety, and sleepless nights and slamming doors and shouts of 'YOU ARE NOT HELPING MUM'.

Otherwise I am trying to revert to the original Daily Project ideals and just doing one thing a day. Today I did 'bathrooms'. Cleaned them all. Took about 15 minutes all up.

Hugs to everyone. Thanks

mumofoneAloneandwell · 06/06/2026 21:56

Just a quick hello from me

Projects completed:
Clearing the stairs and giving them a good vacuum (found sand)
Vacuuming dd's play room - (sand everywhere)
Looked all over for hidden food - (found more sand)
More vacuuming - broke the vacuum cleaner 🤷‍♀️ - luckily its insured

Come to the very obvious conclusion that the indoor sand pit was a massive mistake, its inviting flies, and has to go tomorrow 😡🙃🙃🙃

Love to you all, and from my dd who is very happy with her 'beryoons' (balloons) 😄🥰🥰 (hopefully they'll serve as a distraction from the absent sand pit she will be waking up to 😬)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/06/2026 22:22

Mumofone... I'm chuckling a tiny bit about the sand, but also must commend you on your Mum of the Year move for installing it. 👏
Re your vacuum. It likely died due to a clogged filter, no? Can you remove and replace it or clean it and look for any other sand in the machine and empty it out?

Just a thought. ☺️

Oh, Lobelia. You are in the thick of it from all fronts. Sending love (and advice to take a bath and retire with a good book or podcast).

Havoc is calling me to help wipe bum after a poo. 😵‍💫

OP posts:
WinterFrogs · 07/06/2026 07:42

Much love to you and yours @FourSeasonsLobelia 💐
@mumofoneAloneandwell I do recall clogging up my vacuum cleaner back in the day with random grot but never sand 🤔 I hope dd loves her beryoons 🎈 🎈

Hello @Mumtobabyhavoc children never let up, do they? I hope things are going ok at your house 🙏

Our littlest is a play dough fiend. Will play for hours as long as someone is doing it with her. Ideal grandparenty activity we have found.

How is df doing @petalpower and are you staying sane around all your family commitments? I am off to see my mum today. She has to squeeze me in around her busy social life at the care home. I am not complaining as it took her a while to throw herself into all that they have to offer.

It's bright sunshine here underneath thick black clouds. I'm off to potter in the garden because it looks like once the heavens open it will continue all day. Let's hope it gets it over with before @Peridot1's big day next week 🙏

petalpower · 07/06/2026 08:29

That sounds really difficult @FourSeasonsLobelia . It must be hard being so far away.
All ok here thanks @WinterFrogs . Just full on and busy. We go back to visit the oldies tomorrrow and help with FIL who is now at home with carers visiting twice a day. DH was there most of this week and then back home for the weekend. He had music and local commitments this weekend and it was his birthday too. My dad’s birthday is today and I’m hoping for a FaceTime later. I will see him most days this week and also take him to a hospital appointment which I think will be the first one we’ve had to use a wheelchair for. I am at a music day all day today and am running the refreshments for a charity that I’m a trustee of. I’m writing a lot of lists but not getting much projecteering done!
Hope everyone is ok!

FourSeasonsLobelia · 07/06/2026 09:09

Morning all. Thnaks so much for thoughts and solidarity. Smile It is HUGELY appreciated.

I confess I also had a chuckle at your description of the sand @mumofoneAloneandwell ! You were very brave to try it!

Your life sounds full on also @petalpower !

Today I have repotted a plant already. Then the day's tasks are to either mop or vacuum all floors.

Wishing everyone a lovely day. Thanks

Peridot1 · 07/06/2026 10:46

Hello all.

@FourSeasonsLobelia - so hard being so far away. It’s good that you have a plan for going though. Solidarity on the GCSE stress and tantrums. Remember it well.

@WinterFrogs - I don’t really feel like it’s a new house just more us I think. Well more me as DH doesn’t really get much of a say. The people we bought from built it to sell so it was all very neutral. Which worked well initially. Then we gradually started to change bits and it sort of spiralled! It does feel like there is always something I want to do though. Still don’t think I have the colour of the walls in the kitchen/dining/sitting area quite right….. and I need a rug for the hallway and the dining area…..and then the bedrooms….

@mumofoneAloneandwell - I think that sand was always destined to go everywhere! But you were brave to try.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - the joys of little ones!

@petalpower - it all sounds very busy. Hope your dad has a good birthday.

Not much achieved here yesterday. Sort of finished the utility room.

Woke up quite late for me this morning so am a bit slow. DH is already out in the garden. As it’s apparently not going to rain here today I’m going to do some bits in the garden. When we put the garden room gym in last year and painted it we used masking tape on the windows and never got around to taking it off so what left is glued on and has left marks. I’ve started cleaning it but need to finish that. And some weeding in the side garden. A few plants have died and I’d like to replace them. And I need to mulch the beds. Also need to do a supermarket run as I don’t think we have anything in for dinner. To be honest the plants replacing can probably wait.

Have a nice Sunday all.

RunningKatie · 07/06/2026 19:12

Commiserations on the sand pit @mumofoneAloneandwell - it was an amazing idea.

Has anyone seen summer recently? I think swimming to work is on the cards this week having seen a forecast. Been to visit MIL today, went out for lunch so we could get home to finish off homework etc. Then I fell asleep on the sofa, again. It's becoming a bit of a habit at the moment.

Different bathroom man came round yesterday, quote is much more real life level and although they can't start till October it suits us. DH mentioned decluttering before then, however his concept of decluttering is getting rid of everyone elses things without consultation - but stashing all his in the garage. It's maddening.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend and has their wellies at the ready for the week ahead.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/06/2026 19:51

Katie, 😂 to your DH's decluttering. Glad you found a contractor you are happy with.
Peridot, I hope taking the tape off now doesn't pull paint with it. (I learned that the hard way.) 🤞
Petal, sounds like you're quite busy. 💐
Winter, I need to get into the garden, too. 🙄
My kids also love playdough, but bits of it get everywhere, ie into carpet. 😵‍💫

We all slept in this morning until 9:30am. ☺️
It's been lazy. No laundry, even though the basket is full; did sponge mop floors last night at 10pm, but that was because I had to clean the bathroom floor after Baby took off poo diaper and sort of flung it. It wasn't a horror, but I felt better just mopping and carried on mopping everywhere.

FIFA begins next week. I'm underwhelmed. Apparently it will cost us $82m to host each game. I gave up trying to figure out how to buy tickets through the very complicated lottery. Packages are thousands p/p. 😵‍💫 Re-sales are ridiculous - and in USD. So, big whoop.
Initially, and until a couple of months ago, I just wanted to take the kids to one game, cheap seats, for the memories, but after seeing the FIFA president award a certain country's president a "Medal of Freedom" and all the politics and difficulty getting tix since the shine has worn off. ie one way to get tix is to buy a digital/souvenir in exchange for a RTT (right to tickets) which you can then buy. The number of tickets you can buy is determined by the price of the souvenir and might be 1, or up to 8 (iirc) and random as well (again, iirc). Then there was the lottery. I got picked and was in digital line for over three hours, so gave up. Anyway....
oh, and it looks like hotel booking are below expectation in all FIFA cities. 🙄

Sorry to derail!!! 😬

Ok. Clothes folded/put away. Helped my mum with her exercises. Emptied laundry basket (clothes) into washer. Got dressed. 🙄 Going to fix my hair a bit and run to Costco. 🙄🙄
