Oh @autumnangel how emotional and lovely and all the feelings at the same time. Sending hugs

Peridot1 · 03/09/2026 21:54

How wonderful @autumnangel. Such a courageous thing to do. My sister was the recipient of a liver transplant a few years ago and my BIL of a kidney transplant. It is an amazing gift.

autumnangel · 04/09/2026 09:02

Thank you everyone. DH and I never spoke about organ donation but he was the kindest man who would've done anything for anyone so I know it was the right thing to do. It brings me so much comfort to know that, even in death, he's still doing amazing things.

@mumofoneisonozempic I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and DD that school goes well on Monday
@Mumtobabyhavoc I laughed about the neighbour going to Peru - kids don't miss much do they? We have Poundland here which is probably the same idea. Everything did used to be £1 but the prices have definitely creeped up recently
@Peridot1 hope your sister and BIL are doing well now ❤

Back to work today. Wish I could stay home and potter about forever. I genuinely would never be bored. Only another 20 years before I can think about that though! Not much on the list today - order photos, sort travel insurance and clean the bathroom (I'm not sure why but I absolutely hate doing this!)

WintersFrog · 04/09/2026 10:21

That is sad but so beautiful @autumnangel 🌟

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/09/2026 11:13

Autumn, I've snuck some other things for Havoc's birthday into a box on top of a stack of boxes and am hoping against /living in fear Havoc's curiosity will awaken.
How are you coping? It's been such a difficult year for you, to say the least. I think it's great that you've been travelling and exploring. It's good for the soul. 🩷

I managed to vacuum and wash and hang up a load of laundry this morning while I managed my mum's IV's. I then made everyone a late lunch and headed out to the dollar store. I went to two, actually, and pretty much got the last bits for decorating for Havoc's birthday. Then I went to Whole Foods to order the cake, but they're not making the one I want now, so I've been sitting here scrolling cake shops. 😦

I might just make it, thinking chocolate, choc cream cheese icing, spread some strawberry jam on the layers as well, hollow out the centre and fill with choc coins and candies, and decorate with the cake toppers etc I have and sprinkles. 🤷‍♀️ But, god, I will be decorating, too, so when will I have time????

Anyway, after the kids fell asleep I painted a bit more of the kitchen and touched up Horror Bedroom walls and a few other spots.
It's looking solid!!! 🥳

Have also got the Tragically Hip's farewell concert on tv. I pvr'd it. It took place about 10 years ago.

Oh, I mopped and dried the floors after I cleaned up from painting. Then I had some choc froyo. Baby has just woken up and crawled onto my lap. That's my cue to head to bed. 🥱

Todays to dos:
Clean living room from top to bottom
Get all of dd's uniform washed again with my lenor outdoorable stuff I bought
Get school bags packed and ready
Clean bathroom
List stuff on vinted - i bought two coats for dd last year and I hate the look of them now so they must go, plus another jacket thats too small

@watchPhone your printing woes made me chuckle, as every time I use my printer I have to pray, beg, cry and vow to be a better person before it agrees to print one page for me 😳

@autumnangel did you say where youre going on holiday? X

@RunningKatie hope school is going better for dc1? Such a stressful time for them, without navigating friend groups on top

@Mumtobabyhavoc havoc's birthday is going to be fantastic, i'm sure of it - youre doing amazing sweetie 🥰

@Peridot1 ds bedroom sounds like its coming along well. Its such a nightmare navigating stuff like the bed going wrong - it just seems like it shouldn't be this hard, but thats modern companies for you

@petalpower sounds so yum 🤤 - pot noodles for us today 😄 - how amaazing that you can dig up food for dinner!

@SingleThreadJoiner2 chocolate hair for autumn sounds lovely - ive gone back to black but I already feel bored - hope the kitchen reno is going well

Dd finally ate a pot noodle at neat midnight last night. She also nibbled on some sausages. Today we are back to square one so will try and entice her with some bacon

Hello day 1 of 3 peaks done I seriously doubt there will be a day 2 and 3 for me 🤣
8 hours of freezing cold icy rainy windy weather. I didn’t get to the peak - I met the group on the way down and just turned back with them. They didn’t see anything either 🤣

Mumtobabyhavoc · 04/09/2026 18:26

you're back to black @mumofoneisonozempic 🤨

😄 I am, only less Amy, more gothic wannabe chic

Got myself an eyeliner in the amazon basket, why not 🤭

Jobs done today:
my mum's IV's
hospital appt for my mum
weeded garden and picked tomatoes
worked on sorting out printer; had to re-download app, re-set acct, get it wi-fi connected; and will try it tomorrow (printing is sooo 2005, btw) 🙄
put up under cabinet light in kitchen🤗
(just a stick-on puck light, but damn it looks good! I set it back, closer to the wall, set colour to very light lavender, set timer)

bought these lights at Winners a year or so ago for the closets. They've been sitting ever since, so I'm glad to finally use them. They have about 12 different light colours, a 5h, 8h, or constant lighting option, press on/off and a remote. They use 3AAA batteries, but that's okay atm.
It's always great when a cheap option works. I think I paid no more than $20 for 6. I'm trialing it, so stuck it up with painter's tape on the surface to protect it, painter's tape on the back of the light and 5 glue dots sandwiched in-between.

re printers: i googled user manual make and model and I ended up at the app and it wasn't too difficult to work through, but I was also patient and not pressed to sort it immediately and that helped.

It's just about 12:30am, so am going to load few podcast and go to sleep.
I hope everyone has a good Saturday. Let's all make a pact to do some self-care today. 🩷

Evening all

Today:
3 loads of washing - done, last one on now
Dd's uniform ironed
Bathroom bleach cleaned to within an inch of its life - smells like a public pool in there
Dd has eaten a bit more today, and she seems more vocal and happy - shes literally chatting to herself as I type, whilst watching hey duggee. Ive got classic Holby City on and I'm having a lovely time
T - 2 days til school starts
Cooked and binned a curry - came out too watery so now we are having chips for dinner

@Mumtobabyhavoc why do they make printing so hard?! The whole process feels 2005, i feel like it hasnt progressed along with modern technology!

Ive got lamps in my kitchen, cant cook without my mood lighting - underlights sound lovely

Happy Saturday night all - hope youre all shaking your arses at the club! 🩷

Sorry @watchPhone I didnt see this. Are you at the peak district? Hiking? See i love the sound of the weather, but not the exercise part! Hope you were able to see something on day 2. Failing that, i hope youve had a fun day and then got warm and cosy in a pub xx

FourSeasonsLobelia · 06/09/2026 07:43

Hi all- drive by wave here.

My computer is very dodgy and i am taking the chance to post while it works. It keeps crashing. Hope everyone is well and I will try and catch up on the thread. Thanks

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 06/09/2026 07:43

I hope you haven't been blown away @watchPhone !

@mumofoneisonozempic sounds like things are moving well as you approach the first day of school 💪💪

Yesterday we had a successful outing to choose tiles for the backsplash, and are moving closer to deciding on a colour for the walls. People are being super kind and inviting us for dinner a lot, so we are not feeling the pain of the missing kitchen too much.

@Mumtobabyhavoc I took your advice and was kind to myself yesterday, I didn't work late and gave myself an early night

WintersFrog · 06/09/2026 07:45

How disappointing about the weather @watchPhone! It can really make or break the experience. When I was a child we did Snowdon in those conditions and I've never forgotten it. I suspect my parents never forgot my complaints either.

I've mastered a lot of technology in the last year but success with the printer is still variable so I feel your pain @Mumtobabyhavoc 😢 I find scanning even more troublesome though.

I am in the garden and there is a lot of birdsong. I am so happy as it went quiet but for seagulls and jackdaws for a few weeks. Not sure where everyone went but I am happy that they're back. Robins and bluetits according to my merlin app 💕

I have more books boxed up and sent off, and what they didn't want has gone to charity shops. I have come over even more ruthless than usual. I've also reclaimed the dining room at the expense of littlest's bedroom, but it's only for a month as the stuff is going to auction in October.

I could potter about forever and never get bored too @autumnangel. I do need some structure though. At the moment I'm pulled in different directions with various responsibilities and the free time doesn't feel like enough, and I can't see it changing any time soon. I plan to reclaim some of that as well, just a little bit for me!

I don't have a cleaner to tidy up for but I do have a gardener coming this week and I need to clear some space so he can access it with his tools. I am hankering after a little potting shed and a greenhouse. But first I need to clear out the tool shed and make it more user friendly. I'm hoping the gardener will make a start on the garden and that I can maintain it.

But first I am going to have another cup of coffee and some breakfast 😋

watchPhone · 06/09/2026 08:18

Morning from Day 3 : Snowdon today and it’s raining AGAIN. I didn’t walk yesterday (Scafell Pike) I literally could not face walking with the group 🤣 so I had 6-ish hours on my own and it was blissful. Can’t wait to get home and see SpiritDoggo !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/09/2026 10:03

No major chores for me today.
After my mum's IV's were done I helped her with some exercise, did a round myself, and went out to do an errand of choosing Havoc's birthday cake. Done. Decided against baking as will be busy enough. Then bought myself a slice of cake and scrolled pics from the last year choosing which to print for Havoc's picture wall (I make a collage for each month on the dc's birthdays).
Also booked birthday activity.
Took kids to playground after.
So, my self care was taking a break from chores at home, barbell routine for exercise and a very good slice of Devil's Food Cake with marshmallow icing.

The under cabinet light is purple tonight.

I'm glad dc has perked up @mumofoneisonozempic

Glad you eased up on working late, Single.

Yea to your hiking, SoE! 🤗

Winter, I hope time for yourself comes soon. 🩷

👋 all

@SingleThreadJoiner2 how lovely of your pals - saves the stress of cooking doesnt it.

I've got some laminate for my kitchen - i got it free from a neighbour! So thats one thing ticked off for when I eventually ger round to diying it

@Mumtobabyhavoc glad you gave yourself a wee treat, although your day still sounds busy! Devil's food cake 🤤

@watchPhone not long now til youre home I imagine - hats off to you, i consider a trip around the big sainsburys a hike 🤭

@WintersFrog your pottering and gardening sounds lovely - ive noticed birds in my tree (the tree outside of my bedroom window) and quite enjoy hearing them in the morning

@FourSeasonsLobelia 👋 - cant go wrong with a macbook, if you replace your current one

Today - went to bed at 3am - me and dd woke up at 1PM! I have a 5am start in the morning 😩

Rushed dd out the door to sainsburys and aldi to get crisps, party rings, apples and apple juice for her lunch boxes. As shes at a sen class, they should be able to store the crisps and juice for her, along with spare clothes

One last load of washing to dry. Need to do a big bath and hair wash tonight, organise and bag up everything and then I am DONE with back to school prep 😩

Happy Sunday all 🩷 - and happy labour day weekend @Mumtobabyhavoc hope its a relaxing one 🥰🥰

watchPhone · 06/09/2026 16:10

Done!!! Shattered, happy to be going home I leave with the one solitary picture I managed to take at the top 🤣 It was so windy I genuinely feared I would be blown over🤣🤣 on some of the narrower rockier sections.

WintersFrog · 07/09/2026 07:53

Congratulations @watchPhone! Really impressive stuff. I hope you made it home safely and have had lovely cuddles with Doggo 💕

Good luck with school run today @mumofoneisonozempic ( how are you doing on the ozempic?)

I've signed up for aquafit today. If it's good enough for our @petalpower then it's good enough for me! I'm slightly nervous as I'm very short sighted which is fine for swimming lengths but I imagine it'll be helpful to be able to see the person in charge (coach/ teacher/ instructor?) Do people wear specs for it? I feel a bit like a kid at the start of the new school year.

I need to make a start on organising my mother's many, many photos. She was always "going to do it" ( I'm starting to see where I get it from!) I'd like to make her some new albums. Better than stacking boxes in the loft. I will come back later and tell you that i have created one new album....accountability rite??

Best get on with it. Have a good day all!

autumnangel · 07/09/2026 09:00

Hello everyone. The weekend has just passed by in a flash. I kept thinking I should jump in and say hi but I have not stopped. BIL came round on Saturday and chopped down next doors tree. It was a huge job but makes such a difference to the light that's now coming in. Yesterday I got my car valeted and returned some parcels then last night I went to a floating soundbath. It was amazing, so relaxing! I really need to start making more time for things like that.

Day off today. I've done a big brain dump of all the things I want / need to do. It'll take me until the end of time to do it all so really need to prioritise (not something I am good at!) I also need to write a list for the garden. Just a general tidy really and close down for the winter.

I have joined the Christmas Cleanalong thread (under a different username) and had planned to finish deep cleaning and sorting the car last week. Will do that today...fill screenwash / check oil etc

I also need to book flights and hotel for London next year...somehow I find myself having been chosen by a charity for a place in the marathon! I am not a runner by any means but love a good challenge and it's all for a good cause. I spent most of last night watching videos on TikTok and crying, the crowd looks incredible and I cannot believe over 1.2 million people applied for 100k spots and I have one so I cannot let this opportunity pass me by.

watchPhone · 07/09/2026 09:06

@autumnangel well done on the getting a marathon place! You will be carried along by the crowds I am sure. I read back and saw your lovely tree photo; what an emotional day that must of been for you Flowers

Peridot1 · 07/09/2026 12:26

Hello all

Won’t tag everyone but have caught up on the thread.

@watchPhone - well done for even attempting those peaks! Sorry the weather was rubbish.

It’s been a bit of a stressful weekend here as my sister (liver transplant over two years ago) has been in hospital and had emergency surgery for a perforated bowel last night. Seems so unfair as she has been through so much over the years. Although I do know people go through far worse obviously. Waiting to hear an update from her husband and trying to decide whether to go over.

Not a lot achieved here. Did some stuff in the garden over the weekend as we had lovely weather.

Have a great day all.

RunningKatie · 07/09/2026 15:41

Hope your sister is ok @Peridot1
Congrats on the London marathon place @autumnangel - that's amazing. I got a place when you got in after 5 tries automatically but then dc2 made an appearance and marathon running was off the cards for a long while.
Been up crazy early for work today but meant I've had some free time this afternoon to race about doing chores.
We're back in the clubs and actitvities whirl so I need to shop and meal plan better. Winging it is resulting in many pasta or pizza nights and it's getting boring.

petalpower · 07/09/2026 17:59

Hope your sister is ok @Peridot1 . That’s a lot for her to go through.
Fingers crossed your DC got on well at their new school @mumofoneisonozempic .
Thats amazing news about the marathon @autumnangel !
Some of the ladies at my aqua fit wear their glasses @WintersFrog . I’m managing not to at the moment but I think the time will come as I normally wear them all day everyday. Mine were ££ as they’re varifocal so I’m quite careful with them!
Been to the dentist for a hygienist appointment today and am a bit sore now. Ouch!
