We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

'Despite my wish to be further from other people' @RunningKatie 🫂
I feel you on that! I am grateful for although I live in a terrace, it's mid last century built so we have decent sized gardens, solid walls and a decent amount of room between our houses and the ones opposite. The new builds around here are crammed on top of each other and have paper thin walls. They are also ridiculously priced so all but the social housing ones are standing empty which seems competely mad.

@Mumtobabyhavoc I was doing well just to sweep and occasionally mop hard floors back in the day, and as for looking after your mum and two little ones and still cooking like you do and keeping it wholesome is just epic! Honestly you put me to shame!

My home tends to be 'good enough' 😎 Right now it's not even that, with boxes of mum's stuff filling dining room, one bedroom and currently, the lounge. We are definitely not company ready!

I am going to go for a long walk along the cliffs this morning and try to forget about it for a while. And then I think I will make our bedroom and lounge lovely so that we have a sanctuary.

Hope you are all having a lovely long weekend 😘

Peridot1 · 31/08/2026 09:02

Morning all.

Quick pop in. Trying not to waste too much time on t’internet.

Jobs list:

  • dishwasher - done
  • laundry - one load on
  • change my bed
  • walk
  • help DS with sorting a shelf unit in his room - we did his desk yesterday
  • clear surfaces in utility room
  • plant 2 plants into pots
  • anything else will be a bonus but should be vacuuming
  • start detailed brain dump/house/garden to do list

Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/08/2026 10:52

Winter, all the boxes you are describing sound like the horror bedroom I haven't mentioned in a while. For good reason. 🙈
It feels good having a few things clean at the same time here. I think I'm back into a bit of a motivation phase. 🤞 I do need to get a lot done as hiding and ignoring it just causes me anxiety. So, I need to stop hiding it and ignoring it. 😂

Your walk sounds lovely. Do you go there often?

Peridot, you're sounding efficient, disciplined and productive. 🙌👏🥳🩷

I really must go to sleep here.

Here's the cookie recipe I meant to include last post:

Why thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc! I waste so much time on line and I have so much to do building up that my head is becoming frazzled again. So I need to be disciplined. Just having a quick coffee break.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 31/08/2026 12:24

Flying by! Hair colour is chocolatey with a bit of brightness, perfectly nice and covers up the greys but I think I might try a hint more redness next time! 🦰
On the other hand the ammonia smell gave me a terrible migraine so maybe next time will have to be something less chemical....

Despite the BH builders are here finally ripping out the kitchen 🥳🥳🥳 and despite the chaos we are just so happy and relieved it's finally underway.

Jobs are mainly life admin - topped up school lunches account (now that she's starting y3 we need to pay!) this morning, still need to do the uniform audit!!

petalpower · 31/08/2026 21:09

Made it through hosting the family camping weekend! The weather wasn’t great but we managed having everyone inside with the bbq happening in our cartlodge garage. DH has gone back to help with his parents for a few days and I’ve been doing the final clearing up after our last guests left this morning. I’ll be back tomorrow. Hope you’ve all had a good bank holiday weekend!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/09/2026 03:01

Dark chocolate or milk chocolate Single? 🍫
I had a home dye-job mishap a couple of months ago, reapplied new colour and have been living with it since. I just noticed the colour is fading, so am planning on getting a good amount chopped off and then re-colour. 🤞

Sounds like a success and a fun weekend Petal. 🙌🙂 You must have a very large yard and a lot of bathrooms. 🤣

I had the kids out to Science World today. Really haven't been sleeping, so after that blitz yesterday did absolutely nothing today other than my mum's IV's and watch some French learning vids with Havoc and help with repeating and pronunciation. Today was learning the difference between Je sais (as in, I know a fact) and Je connais (As in I know a person).

Pics: view out to False Creek from within the FIFA exhibit and a display inside.

Ah well done @petalpower! Hope it was fun and you're not too shattered. Resting a bit today I hope. Fun can be very wearing I find!

WintersFrog · 01/09/2026 10:16

I am steadfastly refusing to look at the recipe @Mumtobabyhavoc 😋 😆

I am finally attempting to address the stone that's gone on around my middle in the last year.

Hope you get some rest! I also get anxious about the boxes that i need to tackle. I am hoping that my step by step approach with have it done by the end of the month. I got two boxes of books and CDs posted off yesterday. I am £16.48 better off now! There is also a bit for the charity shop pile so I might stroll into town with a couple of bags full while I'm on a roll.

Chocolatey with bright bits sounds nice @SingleThreadJoiner2

I don't mind my 'silver highlights' too much which is just as well as I'm too tight fisted to pay for professional colouring and I'm allergic to box dyes. Also I swim regularly and my natural hair copes better than my coloured hair ever did.

In other news I got the rest of the house ship shape. Today I plan to make soup in honour of the start of autumn.

I hope you all have a nice day ☕️ (no 🍰 here sadly 😢)

Peridot1 · 01/09/2026 11:08

Morning all.

Glad the weekend went well @petalpower.

So my plans and week have been derailed somewhat. Two weeks ago we got a new bed for DS. He hasn’t really been happy with it. Thinks it’s too short. His previous bed was Ikea and we didn’t realise that Ikea beds are just a bit longer than UK standard length. It’s also pocket sprung and he doesn’t like the dips that causes in the mattress. Anyway. Yesterday he says he is being badly bitten at night and he thinks the new bed has bed bugs. We were already cleaning his room out so then that turned into moving him into the spare bedroom for a few nights till we sort his room. Which meant tidying that and cleaning it and making up the bed.

Then completely pulling his room apart. I am totally convinced it’s not bed bugs but just in case….. DH and I are being bitten too so I’m pretty sure it’s just mosquitoes. DS doesn’t agree….. although did say there was one in his bathroom last night…..

So. Lots of bedding being washed. Thoroughly vacuuming. Including pulling out all the furniture.

And need to sort the bed/mattress issue….

The whole house needed a deep clean so it looks like I’m starting with bedrooms…..

While trying to keep on top of the usual stuff….

Normal list making will resume tomorrow!

Have a great day all.

RunningKatie · 01/09/2026 12:37

Timetables are out for school so much grumbling here.
Paid for piano and tennis, not for me obviously!
Looked up my pensions so we can calculate how long we need to work, dh is 4 years older than me but has had such a rubbish run of health pushing him to retire at 67 would be cruel.
Have spent 45 mins tidying in dc1's room. They mostly sat there whilst i worked away but it does look a little better and the desk is accessible for revision etc.
We are out for desserts this afternoon and the theatre tonight.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 01/09/2026 13:14

@Peridot1 what a saga! Just what you need. Crossing my fingers for you it's nothing serious!!

@Mumtobabyhavoc I would say tending towards milk chocolate. Maybe 65% milk? 😁

🎺 Uniform audit accomplished this morning and much to my relief we are well supplied in everything except PE t-shirts (unless I can do magic with bleach and bicarbonate and vanish and vinegar). Also set aside a large bag of outgrown stuff to pass on.

@WinterFrogs congratulations on getting rid of two boxes! I have five bags waiting for the charity shop, will aim to drop off a couple this afternoon.

watchPhone · 01/09/2026 13:50

Afternoon. It's just taken me an hour to get 3 documents printed. To add insult to injury - I printed out one document 2 x.

Today

  • fret about the blisters on my feet - I did a long-ish walk yesterday.
  • print out docs for sibling - DONE
  • builders next door are taking the roof off, so it's a bit noisy and SpiritDoggo doesn't like the noise, luckily she will be out on a walk shortly
  • didn't get round to sewing last week, so need to do it today/tomorrow, but all prep is done. Machine is up and waiting
  • trying to work out who can fix my car - all the local garages are geared towards MOTs and servicing - I think I may need to get it recovered to a specialist. That can be a next week's problem. How to describe a problem when you dont know what it is without sounding thick.
  • Train tickets to Manchester - DONE
  • I need to hoover my walking boots - they have sand in from dune walking 😄
I am seriously thinking of a job change; or whether i need to ride out a low mood. I have it good in so many ways, maybe a next week's problem, or maybe the answer will come to me on a mountain 😄have a good one, SoE
autumnangel · 01/09/2026 14:11

Ugh...had the migraine from hell Friday right up until yesterday. All I did at the weekend was work and sleep. Thankfully it went yesterday. I take medication for migraines and I've not been completely consistent with it. Must make that a priority and it really knocks me when I do get one.

Off work for 3 days now. I can't remember the last time I had 3 days at home with no other plans than to get myself organised.

However, in classic me style I have spent the day doing...nothing! I've put one load of washing on and that's it. I'll need to get out the house this afternoon and do a few errands so I don't end up with cabin fever and I can feel somewhat slightly accomplished

I really want to get better at coming on here more often and replying to people. I know its not a requirement but I do enjoy reading about your lives and I want to find out more.

@WinterFrogs the rollerskating lesson was a birthday gift from my brother. I've been once before recently and it's such good fun. I'm going to Miami in December and would love to rollerskate alongside the palm trees and the ocean...

petalpower · 01/09/2026 16:47

What a pain about the bed @Peridot1 . Sounds like it’s given you lots of extra work.
I do feel very tired today @WintersFrog . I’ve been to aquafit as well as getting on top of putting the house back to a better state after the weekend.
Jobs done today:

  • picked mammoth courgettes (probably marrows now) and left for free pick up at the end of our drive
  • picked, griddled and froze aubergines from the greenhouse
  • updated parking app with new bank card
  • cleaned the parasol which a fox pooed on whilst it was laid down
  • 4 big baskets of ironing
Now trying to work up the enthusiasm to dig up some potatoes for dinner tonight. It’s just me and DD here and I’ve ambitiously chosen a new recipe to try. Also need to put the ironing away.
Peridot1 · 02/09/2026 11:14

Morning all.

sorry about your migraine @autumnangel. They are rubbish.

I am still washing bedding and stuff from DS’s room…. And it’s raining today so can’t hang anything outside.

And I’m annoyed about the whole bed saga. It turns out that although the website says standard UK king sized beds are 200cm long they aren’t. UK beds are still based on the old Imperial measurement of 6ft 6inches. Which is actually 198.12 cm but they round up to 200cm “for simplicity in everyday descriptions”. And the mattress is actually 197cm. We wouldn’t have bought it had we known so now we might have a bit of an argument. IKEA beds are actually measured in metric and always have been so are 200cm. So DS is right and his new bed is too short as he is 6ft 2.

Today’s list:

  • wash duvet - done
  • PT session - done
  • dishwasher - DH did
  • kitchen tidy and surfaces to clean
  • laundry
  • start tidying off landing which has all the unwanted stuff from DS’s room
  • decide what to do about bed!

Have a good day all.

autumnangel · 02/09/2026 13:50

How did your new recipe turn out yesterday @petalpower?
Hope you get the bed sorted @Peridot1 that is annoying.

Yesterday I paid my holiday, went to the charity shop and took 3 bin bags to the dump. Then I went to DH's memorial and changed all the flowers to make it look a bit more autumnal. However....I also spent 4 hours and 26 minutes on my phone between social media and playing games. No wonder I get nothing done around here!

I'm making up for it today though as so far I have cleaned out the pantry, fridge, freezer and one kitchen cupboard and done a load of washing I've also done a meal plan and shopping list.

Heading out now to do the first proper food shop in a long time and go for a run.

petalpower · 02/09/2026 15:44

The recipe ended up being a bit less of a faff in the end @autumnangel . It was a new recipe from the Good Food magazine for shawarma spiced potatoes and halloumi wraps with tzatziki and salad. I’ll definitely make it again.

autumnangel · 03/09/2026 09:55

That sounds delicious @petalpower

Today I am going somewhere that is potentially going to be a bit emotional (I'll tell you all about it later) so I've made an appointment to get my nails done afterwards and that's all the plans for today. Hopefully I'll get a few things ticked off my list this evening but it's ok it I just sofa rot instead.

Peridot1 · 03/09/2026 11:45

Morning all.

Hope today goes ok @autumnangel. A nail appointment afterward is a great idea. As is sofa rotting if that’s what you feel like.

Still chipping away at things here. Still dealing with stuff from DS’s room. Blanket washed and on line this morning plus a load of his washing from his “chairdrobe”. And a load of my washing now on. Dishwasher emptied. Walk done plus plank as I’m doing a plank challenge this month.

About to empty a box of things from DS’s room. Files and papers so straight into recycling probably. Then I’m going to finish the utility room which I started the other day.

Two plants to plant this afternoon and some new pots to move into potential positions. And/or some weeding.

Have a great day all.

RunningKatie · 03/09/2026 15:03

Hope all is ok @autumnangel
Dc1 went back to school today, it did not go well. Friendship issues are a nightmare.
Dc2 back in tomorrow, hopefully that will be calmer and less teary.

WintersFrog · 03/09/2026 15:13

Hello! Fly by today. Sorry about school and bed woes.
Thinking of you @autumnangel !

That's recipe sounds delicious @petalpower 😋 I don't think I have ever done four baskets of ironing 🙃

I am getting somewhere with boxes though. And I have kept the main living rooms habitable. I need to do a quick blitz putting things away. I have half an hour before a call that I am expecting so I will crank up the music and get started

autumnangel · 03/09/2026 18:32

Sounds like you're really getting somewhere now with DS's room @Peridot1

Hugs to you @RunningKatie I wouldn't wish to be back at school and navigating all that.
@WinterFrogs a bit of music always makes the jobs feel a little easier doesn't it.
Today I went to a beautiful service to unveil a metal tree which is dedicated to organ and tissue donors. DH was just 38 when he died last year. His family and I agreed to organ donation and he went on to save 5 lives. The service was lovely and we got to meet other donor families as well as a recipient and his wife. I cried all the way through it but I'm so grateful to have been there.

This is rather outing if anyone knows me IRL but that's cool
I messed up the nail appointment (again) so that didn't happen. Instead I came home and had a nap on the couch. I'm feeling a bit more energised now so the whole house is about to get reset and I'm going to put a few bits on Vinted.

mumofoneisonozempic · 03/09/2026 18:36

Just a very quick hello from me to you all - i am back now for autumn/winter vibes 🍂🎄

Dd has been off school officially since April but effectively since Jan - she has stopped eating and I think its because she is just bored of being home.

She got into her sen school near us, so is back on monday, fingers crossed!

@autumnangel that is beautiful, and a lovely way to honour your brave husband 🩷. Will attempt to join you in a flat reset and listing stuff on vinted.

Love always to you all, on my fave thread 🩷🍂

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/09/2026 19:11

Lots of posts in the past day! 🙂
Sending support 🍫 to those that need it incl dc returning to school. 🚌

We start school after Labour Day here.

Didn't get to sleep until somewhere around 3am, I think. 🤷‍♀️🥱😵‍💫
Spent a lot of time online looking for sone decos for Havoc's upcoming birthday. I've ordered a balloon pack, but need a giant number and would like to mix in some balloons with the number on them. I would also like a certain backdrop, foil curtains and a HB banner. I plan to pop by the dollar store today (do you have those over there?)
I need to go through pics as well for Havoc's picture wall. I do a collage of pics from each month of the past year on the kids' birthday then put the pages into a binder afterward.

Birthday prezzies arrived from Amazon yesterday. The packages were at the door when we came home. Havoc saw one was a scooter. 😱 I said the packages were for a neighbour who is on holiday. Havoc asked where they went. I said, Peru. I'm really surprised that landed because Peru is a bit of a running joke that I usually reply with inspired from Paddington Bear who is from Peru.

I did a Costco run last night after dinner and found Havoc a pair of shoes for school. Havoc loves them and they only cost $30. 😁
I already have the indoor shoes and these are outdoor shoes. Havoc will need new rain pants and rain boots as well.

I've be toilet training Baby as well. Doing bare bum while at home. Slow process, but little resistance.
