We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

Sleepy wave 👋 @Mumtobabyhavoc It's part cloudy part clear here so I've seen bits of it come and go. Mostly the bright crescent. Can't see much else. I woke at 5am and hauled myself out of bed so i could say I've seen it. Glad you and the kids got to in the end.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/08/2026 06:22

Even with a veil if cloud you can see the shadow on the lower right as the moon come out of shadow. We're a bit chilly and in s dark field atm having moved locations. It looks like the clouds are about to part.

Lovely photos @Mumtobabyhavoc (the food and the moon!)

I had intended coming back to update last night (after my rollerskating lesson!) but I was so tired. I ended up watching a documentary and looking at excursions for my cruise at the end of the year and that was about it.
I’m working a 10 hour shift today so won’t get much done. On the list of things I could do if I set my mind to it:

  • Run
  • Clean out the freezer
  • Book doctors app to get bloods done
  • Go to the dump
  • Take bag to charity shop
  • Collect prescription
  • It's pay day today so I need to pay credit card and set up spreadsheet for this month

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/08/2026 07:41

Autumn, big 👏🥳🙌 to you for starting a running program.
Winter, hope you got back to sleep after getting yourself up to see the moon. My phone camera managed to pic up one decent shot of the red moon, but we could only see white with our eyes. My guess is atmosphere and latitude make a difference.

Kids and I are all cuddled up in bed. They had a good run around at the park this evening.

Hi all- great pics of the moon!

Hi to everyone. Just a quick drive-by wave to all.

About to go and visit a potentially new accountant. Birthday afternoon tea later and i need to make some food for it.

Cleaning is endless and ongoing.

Peridot1 · 28/08/2026 10:19

Hello all.

Great pics of the moon @Mumtobabyhavoc. I forgot about the eclipse which is annoying as I was awake….

Then I fell back asleep and got woken up again at 7 to say my new garden pots had just been delivered…. Ordered four large terracotta pots as they were 30% off.

I have been re organising our patio area and trying to make it look warmer and softer as it is a large expanse of grey with grey furniture. It’s getting there. Just at the end of summer!

Dishwasher is emptied and I have a load of my laundry on. About to go for my walk. Then need to do three sets of squats. My PT has a WhatsApp group for clients and we do a monthly challenge of something and I have been rubbish for months so decided last week that for the last week of the month I would commit to walking each day and doing three sets of squats. So far I’ve stuck to it.

Will change DS’s bed this afternoon and vacuum and dust his room. Still need to de-cobweb upstairs generally so might do that while I have the vacuum out.

Cooking a new recipe this evening - Singapore noodles with prawns. DH usually does the cooking but occasionally I get inspired and do something. I have to admit that at the ripe old age of 62 I have never actually cooked prawns!

Have a great Friday all.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 28/08/2026 10:52

Happy Friday folks. I am biting the bullet after eight years and getting my hair coloured again - at the hairdressers now. Wish me luck and lack of regret! The dullness and grays were really getting to me.

Kirchen mostly packed up. Need to get guest room ready for guests arriving Sunday - currently a complete dumping ground.

And really really need to do a uniform audit before the child goes back to school next week...

petalpower · 28/08/2026 12:52

I missed the lunar event too, completely forgot about it.
Just a quick hello from me, hope to be back properly with you all next week. We are hosting our annual family weekend with people arriving this afternoon until Monday. Maximum is 25 for a bbq tomorrow night. Forecast looks interesting so I’m making a wet weather contingency plan. Younger generations will be camping in the garden! DH has decided that today is the perfect day to paint the back door. I have lists coming out of my ears but think I’m on top of it all!!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/08/2026 20:27

Inspired to post by Autumn.'s and Peridot's recent fitness starts: 50crunches, 15squats, 12overhead presses, 10curls, 15chest presses, 15triceps overhead extensions all using my baby barbell except for triceps I used dumbbells and no weights for abs. Did this while coaching my mum through her exercises after running her IVs.

Now back sitting with dc for YT French learning. Aiming for 30 mins as lunch needs to get on the table somehow before packing everyone up for my mum's hosp med appt.
Oh, also made the bed and got kids to put their pj's into laundry basket and put toys away. 👏✅🥳

We had an absolutely amazing thunderstorm last night, the lightning was awesome. So much rain too, Dh slept through it of course.
Really looking forward to a long weekend, I've tacked on a few days of annual leave till the small people go back to school too.
Been to the library today and to the uniform shop which had sold out of jumpers. Which is fine as it's not desperate, they fit, they've just seen better days. I'll order them once the initial chaos has died down.
This weekend I'm going to put suitcases in the loft and declutter the bathroom. It's being ripped out in a few weeks and I don't want to be packing up stuff we don't need. Obviously we do still need 20 bath ducks even though the bath is coming out.

WintersFrog · 29/08/2026 07:39

Crikey you lot are all go! Are you going shower only @RunningKatie? Daft question - presumably you're not going for a wash stand and pitcher....
It seems like 5 minutes since you were all talking about term ending and now here we are!

I'm on it with weights now too @Mumtobabyhavoc. My mum does seated exercises in the care home which i believe also involve resistance bands. She's looking amazing ( although still not very mobile but that's down to having had a stroke) You're multitasking skills are impressive, helping mum at the same time. Great moon pictures!

I think my need to sit in a dark, sm free corner for nearly the whole of August was directly related to several years worth of multitasking, so I am working on alternatives.

How is the hair looking @SingleThreadJoiner2? Are you happy with it?

I hope it stays dry for you this weekend @petalpower 🙏

How were the prawns @Peridot1? I am a bit the same getting fleeting fits of enthusiasm for an afternoon in the kitchen. It soon passes though and then I'm back to functional cooking. Time to ditch the added crisps and coke though.
How many squats in a set do you do? I've just gone up to six with a weight added. Goblet squat or something with 5 kg kettle bell.

@autumnangel that is a long list! Which task did you pick? If any 🫂 I'm quite intrigued by the roller skating session. What's it like? Are you a beginner or experienced? If i get fitter i quite like the look of our local climbing gym. They do lessons there ( and have a crash mat which feels safer than roller skates - though you have knee pads perhaps)

If you're reading @watchPhone good luck this weekend and have a great time! Hope the weather is perfect 🙏

👋 @FourSeasonsLobelia hope all is well.

Right more coffee then must go to work. Just the morning then my peaceful afternoon with a book hopefully.

Have s great day all!

@teachyourself @WideOpenBeaches are you still about? (Says she who ghosted you a 😳)

🫂 to @mumofoneAloneandwell too if you're lurking xx

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 29/08/2026 08:06

I think I am @WintersFrog! Definitely with the length, the colour is nice too but actually wondering if I should have been even bolder...

Peridot1 · 29/08/2026 10:23

Go bold @SingleThreadJoiner2!

@WintersFrog - I do sets of 12. At the gym with my PT I use a 12kg kettlebell - she snuck that up from 10 when I wasn’t looking! At home my heaviest weight is 4.5 kg though.

The prawns were good. DH said it “wasn’t bad”. I’m taking that as praise.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - that’s an impressive list!

@petalpower - hope the weekend goes well. Such a shame about the weather.

Wishing you well @watchPhone. Hope it goes well.

@RunningKatie - enjoy your few days off.

Enjoying the rain this morning. Sat outside under cover with a drink first thing and it felt really peaceful and smelt so fresh.

A few bitty things to do today. Didn’t do too much of my list yesterday.

Kitchen needs a good clean. Need to change DS’s bed. Still haven’t de-cobwebbed anywhere. Utility room is a mess. I feel a brain dump list coming on. Have house jobs to do plus garden jobs and sheds to tidy and sort so outdoor furniture can be put away plus the garage needs a good sort out. It will all start to spin around in my head and overwhelm me so I need to get it onto paper and make a plan.

Have a great Saturday all.

watchPhone · 29/08/2026 12:56

morning /afternoon! My trip is next weekend I am just trying to get organised this week (unusually !)

meanwhile I am sitting here idly pondering where my debit card is, and wondering why I am allowing a sopping wet SpiritDoggo to drape herself all over me! As long as she is happy eh?

WintersFrog · 29/08/2026 16:05

Soggy doggy must love you @watchPhone 😍 Do you lose your phone as often as your debit card? If not perhaps consider setting it up so you can pay with phone? Samsung wallet or somesuch. I was ahead of you there with your trip, whoops!

@Peridot1 I did similar in garden - propped up a golf umbrella so I could sit outside in the rain. I'd love to get a little kiosk or something in a sheltered corner.

I have a list about as long as yours! Similar things on there too. I have things of mother's to sell and try to increase her savings pot. House is on the market now and I got clearance in for the garage as there was so much in there. And I have become a little overwhelmed with it filling two rooms in my not very big house, so I really must sort it and box it up. The local hospice shop has done quite well out of it too. And I want to give the kitchen a scrub as well.

I keep reminding myself that once it's done, it really is done! This is not long term even though it feels like it. And when it's done I hope to refresh the paintwork which has not been done since 2013, except littlest's bedroom.

I am rather impressed with the 12kg kettlebell! I aspire to catch up with you @Peridot1 I have carried some big boxes lately though 🤔 Gave up the horse volunteering as my knees won't cope with another winter's worth of mud. And also work has got busier, as well as dealing with an extra house.

I am agog about the hair colour now @SingleThreadJoiner2! I am glad you love it. Have you gone short? I'm attempting to grow a pixie cut into a bob, and it's really messy at the moment. I would like it long enough to pin it up when it's windy like today though.

Right, best tidy the kitchen. I've only put a wash on since I got back from work. A Cuckoo's Calling kept me tucked under a blanket with my kindle for a couple of hours. Saw the Strike series on telly but the book has so much more depth. I do love Tom Burke though. He looks a lot like my son in law. My favourite is Ruth Sheen. She's brilliant in everything and she plays a wonderfully feisty part in this.

I have done a brain dump 😳 Or a stream of consciousness 🤭

It's wild here! Hope nobody is blown away, esp @petalpower's party!

WintersFrog · 29/08/2026 16:20

I've been meaning to add a pic taken locally of the lunar eclipse. It's from the bbc site and credited to somebody but now i can't find the page 😞

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/08/2026 20:00

Does it feel like fall suddenly to anyone else???? It is lovely here, cool and damp. The air is so refreshing. It is reminding me of how delicious the air was when I returned home after many trips south. We had light rain early evening last night then around 11:30pm or so heavy rain for a bit. Temp is now 17c and will only go up a few degrees more according to the forecast.

I actually feel somewhat rested and relaxed so far. Nothing is really pressing today. Kids are mellow and watching cartoons on Netflix (Cory Carson, it's cute).

It's just one more week free until Havoc begins kindergarten. Just writing that put my stomach into a bit of a knot. I just want to go back two years with Havoc and do it over. It's been really hard juggling it all and Havoc really has had the short end of the stick with my attention and patience.

Agenda today will be to clean up the med supplies once my mum's IV is done. Do a google for what's happening in metro Vancouver and figure out where to take the kids today.

Winter, I note your warning about multitasking ad infinitum. It's a one way ticket to burnout and mental shut down.

OP posts:
WintersFrog · 30/08/2026 08:24

So much so, @Mumtobabyhavoc! I think August mornings often feel quite autumnal but this year so much more so. I met a woman out walking the other day and she said isn't it lovely to have air to breathe, and I totally knew what she meant. It is a relief. And we haven't even had smoke here.

Spot on re burnout and shutdown. I think we're often 'guilty' (for want of a kinder word) of not realising what we're doing whilst in the thick of it. I was fortunate to read a book that my kindle suggested, and the author talked of the power of doing nothing - with the science behind it, and I just though 'what am I doing?' and downed tools (as far as poss) for a month. I've come back with a clearer plan on how to proceed. I didn't even drop any of my actual commitments, but I gave myself space in between them. Dropped being 'perfect' and what people might think, basically. Both are works in progress though.

I feel you about Havoc @Mumtobabyhavoc. In hindsight it goes so fast. I'd sometimes like a do over with my family, knowing what I know now. But despite the chaos, I'm here to tell you it turned out ok 🫂

Bit of gardening calls today I think. I'd go to the tip too, but for probable bank holiday queues.

Have a good one everybody 🌞 🍂

RunningKatie · 30/08/2026 20:20

Parenting is such a tough job @Mumtobabyhavoc that nobody warns you about. I would love to go back in time to when mine were littlies and we'd go off on adventures like you've done with yours. You're doing amazingly.
Today dc2 and I did a spontaneous adventure, 2+ hrs to the coast to the conservation charity to visit the animals. He had a great time, and I'm shattered.
I've just loaded the washing machine and changed our bed, so excited that the new bathroom is having the airing cupboard put back so we will have storage. Such joy.
We are going for a no bath house @WinterFrogs - bit of a dither over it but I can't see us moving in the next 10 years despite my wish to be further from other people, so we're getting a large shower put in. And I'll just hire holiday cottages with baths for dc2 to take all the ducks to!
I'm going to load a giftcard onto my phone and then make a pot of tea, would rather have a large wine but I'm being wise.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/08/2026 02:46

Thanks for the lovely and appreciated support everyone. 🩷🩷🩷

Woke up around 9:00am; got my mum's IV's done; easy breakfast of warmed bagels with butter and smoked salmon cream cheese; washed a load of laundry and hung it up to dry; vacuumed then washed the floors including wiping dry on hands and knees with old towels which pulled up a lot of dirt, so obv sponge-mopping isn't great; cleaned mop then bleach washed bathroom floor as tiles and grout are quite grey and the grout really needs to be re-done 📋🙄; have now put towels on a long wash then I will re-wash with bleach.

I need to buy new towels and washcloths soon. 📋🙄 The ones I have are 8 years old now. I read that towels used to be much better quality and would last a good 10 years. I remember we had really plush Ralph Lauren towels that did last ages and my mum used to buy gorgeous towels from the Bay when I was a kid. The ones I have were from Costco, medium quality, and I'd say 8 years is fair.

Now going to help my mum with her bath and exercises; a bath myself after that as all sweaty from cleaning; finish my exercises (squeezed in shoulders/biceps/triceps with dumbbells earlier); and make dinner. The plan is to toast the yummy sourdough I bought yesterday, spread with guacamole, plop some poached eggs on top and have the rest of the tomatoes from the garden on the side. I'll need to get back into the garden tonight/tomorrow as there are a couple of beefsteak tomatoes I'm waiting for. Neighbour planted a mixed variety, and it's been a chore lovely surprise to see what is growing. 😉🤣

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/08/2026 06:34

Forgot to list that I thoroughly the bathroom today.

I'm now baking cookies, choc chip cranberry oatmeal, at 10:30pm. Kids are still awake. Have told them no cookies tomorrow unless they get to sleep. Baby has come to check, again, that cookies are allowed in the morning. 🤦‍♀️😂
