Omg that storm @Mumtobabyhavoc! Congratulations to @FourSeasonsLobelia DC on exam results.

Thank you for your concern folks 💕

Big 👋 to you all. Glad you are all ok despite life's ups and downs.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 25/08/2026 08:51

Aaaaah...... Our @WintersFrog Smile So good to see you!

In the morning frenzy, so will come back later but OMG that storm @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Love to all. Thanks

petalpower · 25/08/2026 08:52

You’re back @WintersFrog ! We’ve missed you! Hope everything is ok.

WintersFrog · 25/08/2026 09:14

Thank you 😊

All is well, thank you. Although i have once again spent over an hour on here when i had planned to do some gardening in the cool. Though think it's cool ish all day. No work today but off to see a friend in a bit. I love Tuesdays. Very little is expected of me on Tuesdays.

Peridot1 · 25/08/2026 09:32

Wow that is a storm @Mumtobabyhavoc.

Lovely to see you @WintersFrog. Don’t feel you need to apologise. Or that you need to keep up.

I am off out for my walk once I’ve done the dishwasher and then I need to go shopping. Paint brushes and some supermarket bits. Then change a bed which I didn’t do yesterday. De-cobweb my bedroom. And the hallway. This afternoon I will be helping DH paint the window frames of the garden room. Still regretting painting it at all!

Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/08/2026 10:10

Awake here at almost 2am. 🙄
Currently Googling lunch ideas for Havoc's school lunch-box. Have re-checked school schedule as well (gradual entry for K, so 1hr, then 90mins, or something like that). Feeling sad about it! 😭

Got into garden earlier. Cut back mint, tomato plants and lavender. Removed lettuce that was done and the gooseberry plant that helpful and kind neighbour planted. It's a creeping ground-cover and is too aggressive. I already have mint and tomatoes fighting it out. 🥊🥊
Took kids for a drive and then to playground.
Saw a lovely moon. It's a blood moon lunar eclipse here on Thursday night, but i think it'll be cloudy. 😔
I remember Havoc seeing the super moon in August 3 years ago as we were driving home and yelling excitedly and pointing at it, so I detoured to get a better look and parked for a while. It was a rare moon that year, I think (3 or 4 years ago?).

Got alarms set more morning as specialist is calling at 9am to review my mum's recent CT.
Will need coffee. Lots of coffee.

Still awake.
You'll be able to see the lunar eclipse before dawn over your side Friday. 🤓🌒

Hope you got some sleep @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Welcome back @WintersFrog!

I've got a meeting starting in three minutes and of course my computer is doing a forced update and reboot 🙄

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/08/2026 12:06

4:00am. Still awake. 🙄
Unbelievably, there's a Yellow Warning for Thunderstorms your side. That's the same warning we had.

I've heard about the thunderstorms, must remember to close windows tonight!
Cleaner has been, she's a wonderful woman, she did threaten to quit when she saw the new bathroom plan but I hope she was joking.
Feels like school is getting real @Mumtobabyhavoc - we've got just over a week to go still but I'm dreading it. Both dc take packed lunches as the queues for food are crazy, but it does get boring doing the same stuff. Sometimes I mix it up by giving them the wrong lunch box! Also, I was making my own lunch by this stage, I've gone wrong somewhere.
Good to "see" you @WintersFrog
Feeling tired this afternoon so off to sort school uniform, but first I'm making a mug of tea.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/08/2026 18:11

Good tips, thanks Katie!

I got up with the alarm at 7:45am, so am operating on about 3h sleep. Feeling "okay" though as am on my 2nd latte (which I made 1/2 caf).
My mum's 2nd IV is almost done.
Put a load of laundry on.
Spoke with one of my mum's specialists.
Arranged medication etc delivery.

I see wildfire smoke has returned. 😩

OP posts:
Mumtobabyhavoc · 25/08/2026 19:20

Have put laundry into the dryer and vacuumed.
Going to make s pot of oatmeal for everyone shortly.
Was wondering why I smelled "wet" last night while in bed. Checked sheets, took a quick look for leaks. Then though rain must be on the way. Still smell it. Kind of musty. 🤔
Just figured it out.
It's me. 🙈
Well, my pj's, actually.
Obviously, they weren't completely dry when I folded laundry yesterday. 🤦‍♀️
Will add. "Re-wash pj's" to my list.

OP posts:
WintersFrog · 25/08/2026 21:06

We have thundery showers forecast from the early hours tomorrow, but no weather warnings yet. Mutterings about flash floods in some areas though. Sorry about the smoke again @Mumtobabyhavoc. I looked at the wildfire maps a couple of weeks back and they seemed to be everywhere!

I hate that 'wet' smell too. I love the scent of outside line dried clothes though.

I have done very little that's useful today but I did have a lovely long phone call with youngest DD and a beach walk and lunch with an old friend, so it was a nice one. I think i literally just cooked leftovers for our tea and washed it up. And folded a few clothes to put away, and that's it.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be a busy one though. I have finally repotted all my plants that needed doing. They are all looking quite pleased with themselves and I am feeling all smug.

Next term has come around very quickly! Just over a week till littlest goes back and GN starts reception.

Hope you got to your meeting @SingleThreadJoiner2!

How was your walk @Peridot1? Can you get an early night @RunningKatie? Sorry dc shared germs 👎

The moon looks beautiful tonight, and not even full yet. I didn't know about the eclipse. I think it's early morning here but need to check.

Best wshes to all 💕

Peridot1 · 25/08/2026 22:22

I’m in bed feeling very sad about Dolly Parton. What a legend she was.

@WintersFrog - my walk was nice thanks. Followed by a quick trip to the supermarket and posting a letter.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/08/2026 00:30

Yes, news coverage of her passing all day here. She was an icon.

OP posts:
autumnangel · 26/08/2026 06:51

Good morning! A rather productive morning so far I have:

  • been for a run - week 3 run 1 of couch to 2 5k, I can’t really call it running right now but I’m getting there
  • ordered my prescription
  • finished my audiobook - The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros. I am absolutely not ok after reading that 😭
  • Wrote to do list for work
  • Sent an email I’ve been putting off for a while

Off to work now but I’ll be back later with an even longer list of accomplishments (I hope!)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/08/2026 07:06

Well done @autumnangel 🩷

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 26/08/2026 09:31

Well done @autumnangel! That is a lot for so early in the day. I tried Couch to 5K a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Until my knees decided they weren’t enjoying it!

Will go and check out that book.

I did a bit of a brain dump list last night for admin bits I need to do - booking appointments, taxis, messaging people etc. Will start working my way through that.

Otherwise today:

  • cleaner is in later so need to tidy around bathrooms and hallway
  • de cobweb my bedroom
  • usual dishwasher and kitchen
  • help DH finish painting
  • plant new plant
  • laundry
  • change a bed
  • walk

Have a good day all.

watchPhone · 26/08/2026 10:31

Morning.
Today

  • get rid of all the dead leaves on the plants
  • desk is tidy, but I need to get rid of the empty drinks bottles and coffee mugs 😄
  • some sewing is in order today, as is ironing
  • order some new hiking socks; I hope they arrive soon - done
  • need a plan for when sibling is on holiday end of month and I am home alone - in terms of getting 'stuff' done uninterrupted 😄
  • behind the blind in the office is a bit of a dead fly graveyard, so need to get the hoover on them.
  • that blind also needs a good clean - it's very dusty. Or maybe I just need to swap location, before I find more stuff to be done
  • I am doing the 3 peaks next weekend so I want to get ahead on planning food and snacks.
OK, off to fetch hoover and ironing board for 5 mins in between meetings, have a good one, SoE
WintersFrog · 26/08/2026 16:01

Poor old Dolly! She was only ill for a short time it seems. Love her music.

No rain here 😞

Omg @watchPhone 😲 That will be epic 😍 You are an inspiration! I'm not all that inspired tbf as like @Peridot1 I have knees!
They wouldn't take me up one peak let alone three!
I have been swimming and lifting a few weights though so all is not lost.

I did my first ironing in over a year today. Needed to be done. So rock and roll here: we have leftovers for third day on the bounce 😎

I need to brain dump but I'm doing the next best thing by sitting on a deckchair in the garden and pondering.

I am impressed by how much you achieved before it was even morning @autumnangel

I will look up The Last Letter but probably don't need anything that will make me cry. I've just finished Black Woods, Blue Sky by Eowyn Ivey. Just started a Victoria Hislop but it's not grabbed me yet.

☕️ 🍰 to all

RunningKatie · 26/08/2026 18:22

Well, it might be August but I saw a gritting lorry on my way into work today.
Other than that, all is a bit bonkers trying to work and make time for the dc.
Very impressed with the three peaks challenge@watchPhone - hope it goes well.
Also loved Dolly Parton, she was such an amazing woman, her generosity was wide reaching. So very sad.
I need to sort my reformer pilates classes out, I paid for sessions that I need to get booked in. Will do that tomorrow!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/08/2026 08:52

We'd call that a sand or salt truck Sue.
Any chance it was taking sand for bags in preparation for flash flooding?

I've got a load of laundry in the wash.
Made blueberry pancakes for dinner at 10pm having spent the evening in emergency with the kids.
We were at a lovely playground then stopped for a visit with a friend on the way home late this afternoon. After we said our goodbyes and were at the car, Baby told me about a berry they'd picked and eaten. 😳
So we walked back and found where it was picked from. I took a pic and did a google image search and it was from a yew hedge and that the seeds in the berries are significantly toxic (whole bush is except the flesh of the berry). 🫪
Got the kids into the car and called poison control while I drove to the hospital. Baby was monitored for a few hours at hospital and given an ekg. I've been keeping my eye on Baby all evening and all still seems fine. 😅
Sweetly, as we were leaving hospital, Baby said, Mummy, I'm sorry I ate the berry. 🥺

So, starving, we scarfed dark choc digestives on the drive home. 😛

In retrospect, and I just thought of this, I'm betting Baby thought the yew berry was a huckleberry (ours are orange/red) which I taught the kids about this summer while doing forest walks etc as they grow everywhere here and we picked and ate them when we found them. 🤔
Regardless, the doctor said they see situations line this a lot and that Baby is at the age where things like this happen.

Did any of you get the thunderstorm I saw in the forecast?
I am just seeing the horrible news about the flash flood in Nepal/Tibet with 100's of people missing. 😟
And actor Tim Curry died, age 80. 😦

Hello all, I haven't managed to read back the last few posts, will do that later...

Today’s my day off and I really wanted to get out and about but I’ve decided to crack on and sort this house out (not getting anywhere fast though) So far I have:

  • Sold something on Vinted so packaged it up and posted it along with 2 letters that have been waiting to get posted for weeks
  • Stripped my bedding and got it out on the line along with 2 other loads
  • Filled up the car with petrol
  • Folded and put away another load of washing
  • Attended a webinar about pensions. I’m even more confused now so I’ve arranged a 1to1 session to find out more
  • Charged Ring doorbell and put back
  • Wrote packing list for my holiday at the end of September - I'm determined this time will be different. I'll be packed in plenty of time and actually have a good night's sleep the night before instead of running about

I'm heading out in 45 minutes so need to get ready and hopefully I can sort the washing and remake the bed before then...

WintersFrog · 27/08/2026 20:01

Gosh @Mumtobabyhavoc I hope Baby is ok! What a worry - and so easily done. Hope you're ok too ❤️
@autumnangel that's all looking very positive! Isn't it funny how sometimes things feel doable and other times simple tasks feel impossible. I am very impressed that you attended a pension webinar and think I should probably take a leaf out of your book.

@RunningKatie another one of our number doing fitness classes! I am glad to have rejoined as you lot inspire me so much.

That's fitness and pensions added to my list!

I think we also have aquafit and a PT person among us don't we? I need to upgrade from my weekly swim and occasional walking videos.

That flood news came as a shock! Poor souls 😔

Yup @Mumtobabyhavoc we got a short but loud storm at 3am accompanied by about three hours of heavy rain. More is forecast and doubt we'll see the lunar eclipse. Just off to check what time that is.

I ran a couple of errands today and moved some boxes out of my mother's house. The basics have been done but nothing special. Dropped books that world of books don't want to charity shop. These things seem to be very ongoing!

Time for a bubbly bath I think. Night all 🛁 🍷

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/08/2026 00:49

Raining here, too, Winter. No eclipse for us.
It's a bummer because the moon was gorgeous the last two nights and we were really looking forward to driving up to the SFU Observatory for the viewing. It's supposed to peak just after 9pm PST here, so 5am your time. Apparently the northern lights will be visible as well.

Busy day here:
woke up to delivery driver with my mum's meds;
put meds away in fridge, consolidated supplies into one box;
got my mum her meds then into first IV;
got kids breakfast;
load of towels washed/dried last night folded;
sheets in the wash;
second IV done;
gave my mum a bath;
got myself and kids dressed;
sheets into dryer;
dishwasher loaded and turned on;
took mum (and entourage!) to CT appt at hospital;
back home and made lunch;
made bed;
large load of clothes on to wash;
snack for Havoc and coffee for me;
hung up laundry to dry;
started dinner;
out to garden to pick tomatoes;
Several calls back and forth to one of my mum's specialists' office the to doctor and good news is he feels no issues he needs to have further involvement with 😅, so that's one thing ruled out;
plated dinner.
(salmon and prawns on brown & wild rice with tomatoes and corn on the side)

Kids eating heartily!!! 🥳🥳🥳
(butter makes it better!) 😉
Kids ate all the corn before I got to it 😩... to make it fair, maybe I'll eat all the ice cream?
