We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

@SingleThreadJoiner2 - thanks. I don’t think so but DH is a lot more bland in his tastes shall we say?! 😀

RunningKatie · 20/08/2026 16:25

Loving the lampshade @Peridot1 - it is a thing of beauty
Well done on ds's GSCEs @FourSeasonsLobelia - we have a year to go, I've started working out 6th forms as they have to change schools. It's going to be an interesting year.
I need to clean up, the cleaner missed a week when we were away and we have friends over tomorrow eve. I need to hoover etc., and also shop for snacks and drinks. Just logged off work so of course I've sat down with my phone.

Hello all.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - impressed with your late night painting. I never do anything once dinner is done.

@SingleThreadJoiner2 - the only problem with Stonehenge is how close they built it to the A303 road, 😜. If they were that clever they should have worked out that thousands of years later cars would slow to a crawl as they passed and there would be constant traffic jams. It is pretty impressive though. I took my dad a few years ago when we lived in Somerset as he’d always wanted to see it.

@RunningKatie - it’s this one. I have it on a dark blue lamp. Which is on a dark green sideboard.

Did you get it on sale? 🤞
It's lovely!

very tired here.
dealing with insomnia, I guess?
It's nice to hear good news about exams. 😀

Thanks for good wishes re DS everyone. Smile

Hope you got to sleep @Mumtobabyhavoc

I'm trying to just make little achievements today. So I am doing a tip run; dumping one charity shop bag and going with DS to the shops to buy new uniform. Sigh. More money.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Peridot1 · 21/08/2026 09:26

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I did get it on sale. Love a bargain!

An @petalpower quick trip yesterday afternoon. Posted a return, dropped some of DH’s now too big trousers off in charity bin in car park, picked up prescription for DS and got a few supermarket bits. Did DS’s laundry and that was about it. Oh and drumroll please I finally did the coffee table!

We had a plate rack added to the end of the kitchen to display some plates and it was fitted on Wednesday. Yesterday while fiddling around with putting things in I managed to drop a plate I bought in Australia last trip. It’s been sitting on the kitchen countertop since March unharmed!

Today is normal kitchen/dishwasher, change a bed, cobweb duty, gym, vacuum downstairs.

Have a good day all.

petalpower · 21/08/2026 10:32

I had one of those trips already this morning @Peridot1 ! Half hour trip out to local
large village: picked up prescription for
me, picked up parcel for friend/neighbour, popped into co-op for groceries, went to butchers and greengrocers, ordered keg of beer at micro brewery for family event next weekend and ordered meat for family bbq next weekend. Lots ticked off today’s list!

watchPhone · 21/08/2026 12:24

OMG I meant Landscape Artist of the Year. @Peridot1 that lamp is lovely and hope your son has a smooth first week in his new job and congrats @FourSeasonsLobelia on the GSCE results.

Today

  • SpiritDoggo is at groomers so will need to pick her up shortly - DONE she is looking very fluffy 😃
  • bottom of sofa cushion has splits in that I need to get the upholstery needles and cotton and sort out. I might cost up getting it reupholstered as it is a lovely shape and very comfortable
  • need to tidy up - lots of cups and mugs scattered
  • lol, need to move out of living room, it needs a hoover as well I can see glitter everywhere. I need to put the rug in the washing machine; there is clean washing piled up, shoes... the list goes on.
  • I am very hungry so will go and sort out some lunch now
Right I will go and multitask with dishes, washing and lunch and things will look much better and ready for the weekend. I might go crazy and crack out the furniture polish, have a good one, SoE
Peridot1 · 21/08/2026 12:37

Busy morning indeed @petalpower.

@watchPhone - I only have the lampshade. The lamp itself is lovely too though.

DS has had a really good first week thanks. He’s in the office four days a week and working from home on Fridays. Much better for his age I think. And it’s closer to home so he leaves later and is home earlier and can drive if he wants. Don’t want to be too outing but he’s working for a large multinational company who are a household name in oral health products amongst other things. Last job was with a Canadian-American brewing company. He seems really happy and positive so far.

Reupholstering is so expensive @watchPhone. Neighbours had a wing chair done and it cost a fortune.

autumnangel · 21/08/2026 16:18

Hello! I hope you are all well. It’s been a while and I’ve been missing you all. I’ve caught up on the last few pages, life sounds busy for everyone yet you all keep going.

I’ve been keeping busy and most days I’m feeling ok and maybe I’m now a tiny little bit optimistic about the future. House is still a right mess though (not sure that’ll ever change!)

Currently on the train from Glasgow to Manchester for a solo adventure and a concert tomorrow. I was hoping to read my book but its busy and I can’t concentrate so I’ll have a look at the to do list and see what I can get done.

Lovely about your ds. 🙂
I've been thinking about having my couches recovered. Hmmm.

@autumnangel I'm so glad to see your post. 🩷
The scenery is beautiful. 💕

Lovely to see you @autumnangel. Enjoy your adventure!

RunningKatie · 21/08/2026 18:42

Looks lovely @autumnangel - hope you have a wonderful trip.
I'm stuck in with dc2, they are running a lovely temperature so I've had to cancel drinks with school mums. It wasn't meant to be clearly. Hoping for a quick recovery as we've got 2 weeks of school holidays left.
The keg of beer sounds fab @petalpower- dh would love to be at that level of organisation.
Tomorrow depending on how dc is then we might attempt tile shopping. And I need to change our electricity supplier. Such is the excitement in my life.

autumnangel · 22/08/2026 09:48

Thanks everyone, glad to be back and feeling somewhat 'normal'.

Hope dc2 feels better soon @RunningKatie shame about the drinks.

The wifi on the train was shocking so I couldn't really do much. I did go through some photos as there's so many I need to delete. I honestly thought I had done a good lot of them but only deleted about 300 😩I'll probably try and do 100 or so a day cos it's a rather boring task. I take screenshots of things I want to make / places I want to go...I'll need to live to 100 to do it all 😂

Todays one job was to sort all the webpages I had on my favourites bar (A LOT!). That's now been done so hopefully it'll be easier to find what I'm looking for now. It's a beautiful day in Manchester so I'm off to do some exploring.

Happy Saturday everyone 💐

Peridot1 · 22/08/2026 10:15

I do the screenshot thing too @autumnangel. Really need to clear mine out. Good use of time on a train! Enjoy your day.

Hope DC is better today @RunningKatie. Sorry you missed your drinks.

I think my tasks today will include helping DS sort his desk area out in his room. He wants to get a monitor for work as he will be working on big spreadsheets. His desk is a mess as is the shelf unit beside it and I have ignored it for ages but he said he wants to do it so I’ll bite the bullet and help him.

I also want to rearrange the furniture on the patio. Our house is quite big and blocky at the back and I’m trying to find ways to soften how it looks. Current thinking is to put a pergola along the middle section which is recessed and create a nice covered sitting area. ChatGPT has helped. DH has yet to be convinced…… He never is by my ideas! But step one is to move furniture around. It doesn’t help that all our outdoor furniture is grey.

Other than all of that I think it will be a quiet day. We were at a party last night which involved a 20 minute walk each way plus a lot of dancing.

Have a great Saturday all.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/08/2026 12:48

Hi all- great tto see you @autumnangel

Hi and waves to everyone.

Today i am sorting out paperwork while watching The Avengers: The Infinity War with the DCs.

Once I am on top of it I aim to STAY on top of it.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/08/2026 00:08

Ok. 🥵
Last night I did a load of laundry and hung it up then a load of towels before bed. ✅
And today, after getting home from the dc's activity this morning, they fell asleep after brunch, so I PAINTED THE BIG WALL!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

From prep to clean-up it was two hours. 😅
I've now got 4 fans oscillating it. 🤣
(sounds a bit kinky!)

Going to power on and pack a pic-nic and take kids out.
Managed 1/2 of the Wizard of Oz last night in Burnaby outdoors in the civic square.
There were about a dozen condo and business towers around us and maybe 300 or so on the grass watching the movie. It was nice.

Hello. Last week and a bit of the school holidays! We thought we'd give the D a bit of a quieter time and haven't organised any holiday clubs, just one intensive swimming course (short time every day), but hadn't factored in the mayhem of starting our kitchen renovations... So trying to arrange a couple of playdates as well, ideally not at our house!!

House tasks is basically just packing up the kitchen and using it as an opportunity for a light declutter. Of course this means we now have four charity shop bags that need taking! Little and often maybe, since most of them don't have parking anywhere sensible nearby...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/08/2026 08:58

Single, would love before/after pics of your kitchen!

Took kids to another outdoor movie last night. Left just before what turned out to be a massive thunderstorm rolled in. The storm was amazing and frightening at the same time. I've never seen anything like it. It travelled up from the equator and went as far north as the Yukon. It was self sustaining, so gained energy as it moved over land (if I got that right). Flash-flooding. Trees struck and exploded. At least one house hit. I think 139 cloud to ground strikes, but something like 15,000 flashes of lightning. If interested, there are tonnes of pics/vids on reddit, vancouver or vancouver thunderstorm, I think.

Anyway, we were up quite late because of the storm, but I did manage 2 loads of laundry washed/hung up today, took Havoc shopping for school clothes and cleaned bathroom sink/floor/toilet. Will try for tub tomorrow.

Good luck with the kitchen renovation @SingleThreadJoiner2. The pain will be worth it!

@Mumtobabyhavoc - that sounds like a humongous storm. Will have a look at some footage. Our next door neighbours are in Vancouver at the moment.

Other than a party on Friday night we had a quiet weekend.

I spent time rearranging furniture on the patio which is now looking much better. Have ordered an outdoor rug for under the sofa set. Bought a couple of new pots and have ordered plants for them. Bought a Verbena plant to replace one that died. Will plant that today.

We also started on touching up the paint on the garden room we put in last year. Knots were filled in and sanded and sealed. Repainting starts today. Really regretting painting it at all. Should have just treated and sealed it. If I could turn back time…..

Anyway. Today’s list:

  • walk - prioritising that this week
  • deliver village bunting back to owner - will do on walk
  • dishwasher/kitchen - I do a bit of a more thorough clean on Mondays
  • change a bed
  • laundry
  • plant new verbena plant
  • water pots on patio
  • painting
  • menu plan for the week

Have a great Monday all.

Hope @WinterFrogs is ok and enjoying her social media break.

watchPhone · 24/08/2026 12:35

Morning, mumtobabyhavoc - well done on that big wall.
A faffy little bits of stuff for today -

  • finance admin day as pay day tomorrow (hurrah!)
  • a work list as long as my arm
  • chuck out some old busted frames
  • order some random stuff from amazon, suede cleaner, garmin watch charger (there are TWO somewhere), bamboo skewers (amazing for cleaning in nooks and crannies) ready for a 6am tomorrow splurge 😄
  • one load of washing on and done, need to dry and then NEXT
  • cut out pattern for an experimental dress with pockets 😃This may or not have been on a previous list
  • I am not getting to sleep very well, so back onto the magnesium sachets today, cut off time for morning coffee and no caffeine fueled drinks for me today.
  • need to find some plasters for my poor blistered feet
SpiritDoggo was very cute yesterday, I was home alone watching the football and sobbing (!) at the Kevin Keegan tributes and she jumped on my knee and 'washed my face'. She made up for the cuteness by being an absolute cow and demanding a walk straight after.

Have a good one, SoE

RunningKatie · 24/08/2026 20:41

Day off today so dc have been to dentist, dc2 finally referred for braces.
Been for a swim, and I've had a small nap on the sofa as dc2 shared their germs.
Another day off tomorrow and the cleaner is coming so dc need to be up before 9. This will be such fun.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/08/2026 20:51

Peridot, it really was the thunder storm of a lifetime. I have never experienced anything like it. Being right under it while driving, being completely surrounded by lightning was both exciting and frightening. It was so close. Thunderstorms only happen a few times a year here and are usually short and nowhere near as severe. It rarely touches down or causes significant damage.

Katie, I am dreading the return to school, and f/t for Havoc, because of sickness. I really don't know how I'm going to cope with it. It was so bad last school year, especially that d&v brought home.

Laundry now folded and packed up some of Baby's outgrown clothes for donation.
Thinking about tiring kids out on a hike so I can get some more painting done tonight.

Hello! I am very sorry I left so abruptly. I didn't mean to be rude or worry anybody. There has just been so much going on at home and I needed to stare at trees instead of scrolling 😳

I am going to go and catch up now 💕
