We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

So happy to hear that @SingleThreadJoiner2
Throwing parties can be so stressful, but it sounds like you are brilliant at it. 🥳👏🤗

An all day drive Petal? We did that, and up to three days driving when I was a kid to go visit grandparents a couple provinces away.

Peridot, how long does it take you to read a book? A book a week might be 3 1/2 years of reading, but obviously my math might be off. 😁 I am now thinking I really do need to pull out my old econ texts after all. Seriously, when Havoc was a newborn and I was making formula I would check and re-check the measurements and directions as I was so tired that I wasn't sure I was measuring correctly. Baby brain / exhaustion really does a number.

Speaking of exhaustion... I got the kids breakfast then went back to bed and slept 2 more hours. Have now got towels in the dryer, a load of clothes in the wash, put away all the clean clothes, gave my mum a bath, cleaned the toilet and sink, helped my mum do exercises and have now got her on her IV. I'm going to get lunch on as soon as my mum's IV is done and get the kids out.

Hi all- hope you are all well. I'm enjoying reading your updates. I've never tried key lime pie!

Mother out of hospital today (yesterday for us now). She has to be super careful about going out and being in public as she is just too immuno-compromised. DCs and I are going away for a week or so to give the parents some space and to go and tour some sites.

It's certainly not been a relaxing holiday! But it has been good to be here and to be able to take over cooking and housework etc.

Hope everyone is fine, and loved ones too.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/07/2026 22:26

That's a relief for all of you that your mum is able to be at home and a good plan to go off on a bit of sight-seeing for a week, Lobelia. 🤗💕

Key limes are difficult to find outside of the States, but an easy swap is regular limes. Use fresh-squeezed lime juice in place of lemon juice in your lemon meringue pie recipes. A nice dessert is to make the pie filling and place into dessert cups on top of graham cracker crumb bottom as you would for an actual pie. Then whipped cream on top.

Just trying to keep kids still to eat their lunch and having a latte with cinnamon. I know in Italy/lFrance lattes are a hard No unless it's breakfast/morning, but caffe latte, "latte" is normal here any time of day. Any coffee drink is, actually, so me drinking iced lattes all year 'round is normal and actually a very Canadian thing. 😂🤷‍♀️🍁

I found a "spanish latte" on a menu this weekend, apparently made with condensed milk so very sweet.
I only drink black coffee so it's entirely wasted on me!
Dc2 has had a tooth fall out so will hopefully get onto the braces waiting list next month when we visit the dentist.
Tonight I need to remove my chipped nail varnish, and have a think. My summer bucket list of joyful things has "complete a craft project" on it. I need to decide which and then make a start.
Hope the IV'ing is continuing well @Mumtobabyhavoc and the trip is too @FourSeasonsLobelia
Party sounds fab @SingleThreadJoiner2
Hi to everyone else too!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/07/2026 22:12

Single, I can't do Spanish lattes as i'm lactose intolerant and, so far, no lactose-free condensed milk. It's just as well!

Also hoping things are okay with your mum Lobelia.

Summer goes too fast! We're half-way done already. 😢
Just on my way home from downtown by train. I only drove part-way to avoid parking fees/trying to find an open spot.

It's hazy and I think some of it is wildfire smoke. I'm going to get the kids out as much as poss before the advisories start.

Morning all.

A wish list for summer sounds great @RunningKatie.

Glad the IVs are now going ok @Mumtobabyhavoc.

After being happy schools were finished @SingleThreadJoiner2 it appears schools here are not yet finished…. So still noise and traffic issues here…

We ended up doing an extra job of defrosting a huge chunk of ice which had developed at the back of the fridge yesterday. Just not great timing as it was just before we were about to cook dinner. Fridge is now pretty clean though…..

Other tasks were changing my bed and washing bedding, planting two new plants, sorting out a corner in the patio just outside the doors and some normal laundry.

Just waiting for supermarket delivery and then I’m heading out for a walk.

Today’s tasks are laundry, clean washing lines as I am having to rewash some bedding from yesterday as they ended up with marks on from the line, start an ironing bag, vacuum my bedroom.

Have a great day all.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/07/2026 05:22

Hi all- hope everyone is well and fine. Thanks

Mother is out of hospital and having to isolate. The parents wanted a quiet time just resting and so the Dcs and I have gone away for a few days to give them space. We have headed for Sydney and will do a few things then head back again via Melbourne. We head back to the UK in 3 weeks so still a good amount of time to be around.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/07/2026 05:32

Lovely to hear from you, Lobelia. Best wishes to your mum and dad. Have a good time on your road trip. 💕

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/07/2026 05:48

Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc . Smile. Thanks Hope you are okay and your mum also. ❤

For the night we managed to find a caravan park on the beach with availability. I'm really winging it right now with directions and accommodation but we have been very lucky so far. Off to the heated pool then a burger and chips meal. The DCs have bunk beds which they are over the moon about. (Who knew it was to be so easy to please teenagers? I'm sure it's not meant to be like that.... ) Hmm

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/07/2026 08:06

Road trips are so fun! It sounds like your kids are loving it, Lobelia. 💕

My mum is doing ok. I'm a bit on edge awaiting a further diagnosis and treatment plan, but trying not to think about it too much.

An Amber Alert is being broadcasted. It showed on my phone then on TV. Do you have that system in the UK?

I'm just going to hang up some laundry to dry and go to bed. 🥱

Morning. @FourSeasonsLobelia - enjoy having some time touring.

Today

  • try to book an outdoor swim today - tried yesterday and gave up - done
  • bunting, have ordered some fabric paints which should arrive today
  • finance admin - pay day this week (hurrah!)
  • trying to leave rooms marginally better when I leave them than when I enter (nicked from someone here I think)
  • am working my way through a stack of half used notebooks - one may go in the bin today (double hurrah!!)
  • 6 days until the loft gets partially boarded and operation 'get rid of the garden shed' begins 😄
  • need to book in some time off for August but also need to find out what the GNephew wants to do if anything special. I am hoping he doesn't want to try surfing as the lessons are super spendy; it was a sort of suggestion when I didn't know how much they were - that will learn me 😄 I am generally quite generous, but the cost for 3 people to have a surfing lesson is £300 plus. Dithering, as we only see him this one time a year.
  • need to find some time to hand over pilates socks!
  • just had a very strange lunch and now I want something 'nice'. Just remembered sticky toffee pudding from yesterday's meal deal.
  • I have gathered up some clothes that were vinted purchases and am going to put them in the charity shop bin - they should go under the heading of what was I thinking. Cannot be bothered to re-vint them.
  • Just remembered I have had no answer from email enquiries re my car - I guess I'll have to phone them.
There are more words than actions items there 😄have a good day, SoE

Day 3 of the school holidays... D has been at holiday club so far so not too bad. Juggling work and getting ready for holiday (to home country, but it has beaches 😎), and trying to do little extras where possible - sending shoes off to charity, disposing of crafting detritus, starting to book next year's clubs 😮😮

D asked me this morning why I was still working if it was the summer holidays and I tried to explain the concept of annual leave days to her 😅

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/07/2026 06:59

Excellent list SoE! 🤗
Work is so unfair Single! If only AL could be in step with school hols. 😔

I had the kids out all afternoon. I took them along to a med appt across town then we spent a couple of hours at Playland. It was hot. apparently 36c and feeling like 42c with the humidity. 🥵 I had packed ice packs with us and we took breaks in the shade using the ice packs to cool us down + umbrellas to keep the sun off while walking around. We managed lots of rides, though, and did a Costco run after which included getting hot dogs and Cokes. 😁
I got into the garden for over 2 hours after dinner and have just put the dishwasher on and a load of laundry now that I've got all the windows open and the fans on.
I made a nice refreshing salad with lettuce and cucumber from the garden. I'm on cappuccino froyo now. 🤗
My neighbour has put a gooseberry plant into my garden. 🤷‍♀️ Has anyone seen the Hanging Basket thread? 😂

Day 4 of the holidays, I'm wfh'ing but also providing meals, technical support and barking "if I have to tell you to clean your teeth again then.....". Teeth have been cleaned!
House feels so chaotic, I do feel I need a reset day already, that might be Sunday.
Reformer pilates this evening, I am really enjoying it. Plus food shop to collect and dc1 needs trainers.
We've also started watching a series on tv, all together for an hour in the evening with no distractions. I am loving it especially as dc1 is quite good at spotting and calling out anyone on devices!

Have given baths (me, too); did a bit of gardening (cutting back peas) and had neighbour's dc over to pick some herbs; made bison burgers for dinner; and now thinking about getting kids out. Didn't do it this afternoon as Baby slept for a couple hours.
Need to Google type of mold on peas.

Hi all. Drove 5 hours today to see a friend in her town. I’d forgotten how big Australia is! But there are worse places to spend a Friday afternoon.

Daily Project Round 10
Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/07/2026 08:42

Oh, how lovely Lobelia. This makes me want to dig out my old pics of Australia. 😍
I saw the cold weather warnings and I hope you're far from that. Have a prawn sanga for me, will ya? 🤗

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 24/07/2026 11:04

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I’m exhausted just reading that! That’s a lot.

@FourSeasonsLobelia looks lovely. And yes Australia is big! And cold in parts now apparently. My friend in Sydney said it was 6 degrees this morning.

Hope @WinterFrogs is ok.

Lovely day here and I am just back from a walk around the fields. Did most of the kitchen before I went so just have to do one side. Did some laundry which needs hanging out. And then I need to order a new bed for DS. His is really creaky apparently. It’s about 10 or 12 years old and definitely due for replacement. Also need a quick supermarket run.

Have a great day all.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 24/07/2026 11:28

Peridot, sometimes I wonder, What did I do today and why am I so tired?
It's the constant multi-tasking, I think.
Slower pace today, but lots to do. Your field walk sounds nice. 🙂
